1 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/13/2019

While driving my ignition "turns off", often when I hit a bump. It is as if I turn off the ignition and removed the key. They entire dash readout goes blank. I have found that if I press the key in it will sometimes come back on but I still must shift to neutral and turn the key to start. This seems very dangerous as it has happened many times while driving in excess of 55 mph. One time I accidently shifted beyond neutral into park! I believe that Chrysler had a recall on this problem in the two prior year models and I believe it should be extended to the 2012 model. This has happened dozens of times, the last time being yesterday.

3 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

We where driving in florida on vacation on June 12, 2017 when our 2009 Chrysler town and country started to have electrical problems . The wipers wouldn't shut off until the wiper motor burned up , the drivers seat wouldn't stop moving forward and back , the windows wouldn't go down , ac went out , the entire dash board light up and all the lights stayed on , the speedometer was dead , the gas gauge was dead , the turn signals didn't work , the dvd players didn't work . We took it to a dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong with it . It then did it again and it went back to the same dealership and again they couldn't find anything . On the way home on I-95 it started again . When we got home we took it to a garage that deals with electrical problems and he found out it was a dvd player in the front that was making it go nuts . He disconnected it and its ok but now nothing works , like the 3 dvd players, the heated mirrors , the remote start . This issue needs to be fixed before some one gets killed on the highway .

4 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

Upon entering and pressing the start button, the van starts and immediately dies. Dash is dead, but radio and center stack still lit up. Press the button again to shut everything off and try again. The van will usually start after a delay. This is in addition to cranking for a long time and not starting at all. This was happening even after we had the engine heads and transmission replaced under warranty. This was an intermittent problem but is now happening about 4 times daily.

5 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/03/2015

Instrument cluster and spedometer have failed. While driving my entire dash would turn off. No spedometer, no tachometer, no fuel, nothing. After a month or two of this happening on and off, my spedometer started getting inaccurate. It's now at about 37mph off. When I turn my car off, the spedometer goes to 0 (or below 0). When I turn my key to the right, it goes to 37mph. While I'm driving 20, it shows 57mph. If I'm driving 60mph, it shows 97mph. After performing a google search and reading through some tech blogs, we've found this is a very common problem with the instrument cluster and a broken circuit that needs to be soldered. We did that and have not had the problem with my dash instruments turning off since then, but the spedometer is still not accurate. We tried doing a spedometer reset which did not resolve the issue. I feel like there are so many people that have reported this problem, and it is unsafe for your instrument cluster to not be fully functional - that this should be a recall. I know people with jeeps and Dodge vehicles that have the same problem. I am shocked that this is not a recalled issue and can't wait to sell this. I definitely won't make the mistake of purchasing Jeep/Dodge/crysler again if you're unwilling to repair this defect for your customers at no cost. After a brief search, I see NHTSA id numbers: 10253857, 10469302, 10192636, 10093722, 10195148, 10203097, 10093722, 10137954, and 10062117 filed with same or similar problems as well as all the info I've found online.

7 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

This electrical problem has occurred 10 times since I bought the used vehicle in 8/2014. It has happened at stoplights and while I've been driving. All the lights on the dash go out, they all come back on like you are just starting the van and the windshield wipers go off as well. It has happened when I've been in park, making a left hand turn into oncoming traffic, driving down the road (45 mph) and waiting at a stoplight. Most recently on 2/6/15 it did it 2 times while I sat at the same stoplight. I have nothing additional hanging from the key fob and even tried the 2nd key fob I have and the same problem occurs.

8 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

While driving at various speeds the warning bell sounds, then the air bag warning icon lights, then all other warning icons light, then all gauges go dead for about a second, the the front wipers swipe 2-4 times. After that, if the air bag warning icon light stays on, the entire process will reoccur every few minutes. Sometimes it will stop after a few iterations, sometimes it will go on for hours. The problem seams to be more prevalent after the vehicle has been parked in the hot sun. Sometimes, disconnecting the battery's negative cable for at least 30 minutes will reset it until it is parked in the sun.

9 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

Van intermittently stalls at low speed unexpectedly. Gauges will fail at high speed, but has only died at low speeds. Occurs when cold outside. Must turn ignition off and on again to start. Sometimes must put in gear and back to park first.

10 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/24/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. While driving at approximately 65 mph, the headlights and the lights on the instrument panel flashed. In addition, the gauges failed, the windshield wipers activated independently, and a chime sounded. The vehicle was restarted and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system); however, the part was unavailable to perform the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. 11 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/05/2013

Driving my 2 small children to school and myself to work, I turned right onto a main roadway and the dash went dead, no speedometer, no gas gauge, no read outs, nothing, then about 5 seconds later the dash flashed back on and front wipers went on. This happened several more times between home, school, and work (35 miles one way). As I was leaving work, the dash went dead and stayed dead for up to a full minute several times between work, school, and dealership, before flashing back on and the wipers coming on. Limped to the dealership with my 2 small children in tow. They had to keep my van overnight in order to trace the electrical issue. Diagnostic was run, issue traced to a body harness in the 3rd row seat where a clip had broken off causing the entire system to shut down whenever driving over bumps (even small ones) or rough parking lots and roads. Chrysler was notified, problem documented, dealership was awesome but Chrysler refused to fix. $2200 to fix that I don't have, vehicle not repaired as it requires so much expense and at least 10 days to repair. That's 10+ days I can't afford to take off work. We will never buy another Chrysler product after 16 years of brand loyalty. Dealership tech has applied a temporary fix so the bus doesn't shut down and cause more issues, like total vehicle shut down. Will provide VIN if contacted directly.

14 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/22/2012

While driving down the interstate at 45 mph the traction control light indicator flashed and all the gauges zeroed out and the van lost power and steering control making it extremely difficult and unsafe to remove from highway. This has happened on three occasions in the past 3 weeks since I have purchased it from dealership as used car. Putting the vehicle in park then restarting it seems to fix the problem temporarily, although I am concerned driving it on the road with me and my children in the van. Now the engine light came on and had diagnostics run. Code p0406 - showing ecm has detected the egr position sensor voltage was too high, probable causes could failed egr position sensor, open or short circuit condition, failed egr valve, failed egr pressure sensor where applicable, or failed egr position sensor where applicable.

20 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/29/2007

I have a 1999 Chrysler town and country van and tnbis is the second time within the last 20 months the instrument cluster circuit board, part number 4874440, has failed. This circuit board, behind the instrument panel, controls most of the electrical circuits in the car. When it fails the gauges don't work, the warning lights don't work, the door locks fail, it affects the radio, and sometimes the car won't start. The problem is you never know when it will fail. This is the second circuit board we have had replaced. The two safety issues are the fact that the car may not start. The syptoms are very sporadic. Sometimes only the gauges are affected. Other times it won't start but may start the next day or next week. I was told this also affects the proper functioning of the driver and passenger air bags. When the gauges go out and the passive restraint system and air bag light goes on the chances are they would not function properly in an accident. Chrysler either engineered this circuit board poorly, causing the high failure rate, or their supplier is shipping defective parts. This should be a fleet-wide recall. I called Chrysler support and they said they would report the problem. The Chrysler file no. Is 16463834.

21 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/19/2006

: the contact stated all the gauges on the dash fail to work intermittently. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Also, the sliding door sensor failed to stop the door when it comes into contact with an obstruction. The dealer indicated the doors operated as designed.

22 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/11/2004

The instrument cluster will go dead as you are driving the vehicle. Non of the instrumentation will work not the fuel, tach, spedo, odometer or anything. Just as quickly as it turned itself off, it will turn itself back on and all of the instrumentation will work. Other problem, once started it will immediately shut itself off. After a few attempts it will turn itself off and then it will not start or do anything. If you let the vehicle sit overnight, usually the next day, it will start again like nothing ever happened. It does this frequently, but completely sporadically. It has happened to me approximately 9-12 times since I purchased the vehicle in may of 2003. The previous owner had it in the shop, (I have the work orders) for the exact same problems at least 2-3 times while it was under warranty and each time they told him that the problem was solved. The car was sold to me and within the month the warranty expired. I took it to the same dealership and they couldn't diagnose the problem but still charged me for a diagnosis fee. They tell me it is an intermittent problem and that I have to be able to duplicate the problem. When I have it towed to them they can't diagnose it and want me to pay for the repair even when I have a history to show that the problem was never repaired to begin with. I have seen many statements and questions about these exact same problems others are having with their Chrysler minivans posted to various internet web sites. How can I get this resolved so that the car drives without endangering myself or my family. I have emailed Chrysler directly on numberous occasions. I bought the car with 48,000 miles and it currently has 54,000 miles. I can't sell it because I wouldn't want to pass these problems on to someone else. Also, I can't trade it because the owner of the Chrysler dealership in my area,al berger of sarasota Chrysler has told me himself that he couldn't give me what it's worth because he knows it has these problems.

23 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/17/1997

Besides the failures just shown, there were additional electrical gauge failures on 02/28/00, 04/14/00, 05/08/99 and currently there are intermittent electrical gauge failures and other electrical system failures, including fm radio, door locks, electric window controls. Chrysler is not responsive and the dealer has not been cooperative. This vehicle has been a "lemon" since it was new but Chrysler has refused to repair anything not covered under warranty or a national recall. Dt.
