4 Ignition Switch problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Vehicle shuts off while key is in the run position. This has happened multiple times. There are no special circumstances when it happens. It may happen when starting or shifting into gear. It has happened while driving both in city and country driving. While driving all systems shut off including the headlights, power steering, power brakes etc. . . This has happened to me while driving at night just as I was approaching a corner. It also is a hazard to oncoming traffic as the vehicle goes dark and would be hard to see. If you hold in on the key sometimes the vehicle restarts on its own if you are still moving sometimes it doesnt. If you hold in on the key the vehicle will continue to run fine. It doesn't matter if you are holding speed accelerating, turning,or going straight. This is definitely a problem with the ignition switch which should be replaced however research has made me decide this is not just a single vehicle problem so I am making an official complaint out of fear of injury to the public. This style switch should be recalled in my opinion. Thank you for your time.

10 Ignition Switch problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

2013 Chrysler Town & Country touring van. To our surprise, shortly after owning the vehicle it would randomly just shut off all power while driving on the road or expressway. The first time this occurred we were on I-75 when all power stopped, the quickest thought was to put the van in neutral and restart the vehicle. We began to attempt to problem solve and kept zoning in on the fob and ignition area. My daughter and I were driving trying to re-enact a time it had stalled when I had gone over a speed bump. I began to tap the fob and it completely lost power and shut down. Each time the fob was tapped the power would shut down. (we took video on our phone). We were elated to finally have an answer. My son in law who is very savvy in automobiles and researching on line found there were over three hundred (300) complaints for this exact issuea faulty ignition switch. We had taken this vehicle in to two reputable car repair service centers, one being a Chrysler dealer and neither could duplicate the problem. Once we targeted (solved) the issue, I took it to my reputable service center who confirmed it indeed was a faulty ignition switch. I felt the need to express my heart as this is/was a very disturbing situation to be driving and randomly without warning have this van completely shut down in very busy day to day traffic. Also during all this my husband unexpectantly passed away as we were trying to find a resolution for this, fortunately I persevered to solve the problem as no one else could figure it out. I am hoping you will take into consideration my plight for restitution for the emotional, physical, financial and most of all the safety distress this situation has had on my life. I hope Chrysler will stand by its superior quality and standards. I have high regard for the minivans through the years as this was the third one we have owned.

13 Ignition Switch problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/03/2018

My van was inspected by our mechanic for an ignition switch issue, where the ignition switch moves into the accessory position when driving, stays in the "on" position after the key is shut off and the key fob is removed and at times will not allow the key fob to turn into the "on" or "accessory" position. When this happens, the vehicle is still drivable, but various features, like air conditioning, back up camera, radio, etc are not available. Not sure what all features are available, like airbag. Our mechanic has seen this issue reported by other 2010 Chrysler Town & Country 3. 8l touring and Dodge caravan owners and has been informed that they were eligible for the l25 recall. When I contacted the dealer that I purchased my 2010 van from new, they told me that my van was not included in the l25 recall. Need to have this issued reviewed again, since my 2010 van is having the same issue that has been reported for other vins.

My Chrysler town and country had performed the recall on the ignition switch however my van still shuts down while driving. At first it started upon morning when first starting out the day, but now it shuts off even after 45 minutes of driving the vehicle causing me to loose control of the steering and having to be cautious so that I wont be rear ended or worse. I have taking it in to be diagnosed but the technicians after having the van hooked up to their diagnostic machine are still unable to see anything wrong. No error codes are showing. Also now, while parked and the engine off with no keys. . . My doors will just open by themselves or automatically lock. It did it yesterday morning however my car was running, the van locked sounding my alarm that sounded as if I had pressed the key to lock. 27 Ignition Switch problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/26/2016

My vehicle shuts off while driving making it very dangerous. The ignition switch clicks and the van shuts down at the same time consequence: if the ignition key inadvertently moves into the off or accessory position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash. This is what I found out to be the issue in most cases. There was a recall back on June 2014; they fix that problem in my vehicle on June 2015; now is back again; they say there is no recall on this problem, but it continues resurfacing. This problem happened four ( 4 ) time in the month of November 2016 already during driving time ( vehicle in motion); also some times won't even start right away; back in 2014 it was call: recall campaign id 14v373000 dated June 26, 2014. Could be recall l25 or r03. Not sure which one is the correct, they have told me r03.

31 Ignition Switch problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

This vehicle has given problems with the electrical since I got in brand new in winter 2009. When driven for more then a couple hours, all the electrical will flash off for a few seconds, to include my power steering headlights, dash lamps, etc. I had the recall done which replaced the ignition switch which supposedly was the problem. Now that this recall has been done, my key gets stuck in my ignition, the tire pressure system randomly turns off, and to top it off the electrical still flashes on and off after driving for more then an hour or two. The dealership has stated they don't know what causes this as it never happens when they test drive it. Another problem that I've had since day one, is with the transmission. When you slow down to make a turn and press the gas to speed back up with the wheel still turned the transmission will jerk into gear. This also has been looked at multiple times and the dealership did not know what was causing it.

34 Ignition Switch problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/07/2016

I have a safety problem with my car we purchased 2 months ago this is the second time it has happened and it should be repaired with a recall. The ignition switch on my 2015 Chrysler Town & Country VIN 3 2c4rc1bg3fr609290 works perfectly until you shut off the engine, then it allows you to remove the key easily in any gear, this allows the car to roll which has happened to me twice when distracted and the selector did not get to park. The first time was at night and when I put my foot out it felt like I was on ice, I did react by stepping on the brake and did not hit anything. I took it to enterprise car sales where I purchased it and they had the mechanic check it out, he said the ignition switch was dirty which repaired the problem until a few days ago. It happened in the daylight this week again and I could feel it and see it because I was on a greater incline & could see what was happening. In both of these instances there was no warning that the car was not in park. This is defiantly a safety problem that should be repaired, as the first time if I had not raised my foot fast enough I could have been pulled from the car by the door & possibly run over, as it was rolling backwards in the pitch dark night.
