1 Transmission Pump problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

Check engine light came on. Van was originally driving fine and not making any noises. Next day while driving to get the check engine light diagnosed on the city streets, the van wouldn't shift gears and stopped in the middle of the road. After an attempt to turn the van on and off to get it out of the middle of the road, the van would move forward and then slowly decelerate. When towed to the repair shop, it was determined that there was something wrong with the transmission. The diagnosis is a transmission pump failure. There is a recall due to transmission pump failures however we were told our VIN # wasn't affected. $3700 later we had to get a rebuilt transmission out of pocket when I believe this was related to the recall.

10 Transmission Pump problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/31/2020

After sitting at a stop at a drive thru service, the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate when stepping on the gas. Turned the car off and regained control. Drove for awhile and the transmission started slipping and then would lose complete ability to accelerate. The loss of power would cause the car to come to a standstill with traffic having to deal with my non moving car in the middle of traffic. Engine began to whine also. I turned the car off and would regain control for a short while until it would happen all over again. Took it into a mechanic and was told it was the transmission pump. It is recalled on other vehicles of the same make and model and year but it is not covered on mine. This was the first repair to any non body part of the vehicle. All fluid changes and regular preventive maintenance were kept up to date. It's worrisome that the transmission failed so early on such a new vehicle.

11 Transmission Pump problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

As others have described, I am going through the same issue with my vehicle. I was driving with my family to dinner about an hour away and as soon as we got off the highway the car shut down as I went to break. I had the car towed to the dealership where they scanned the car and the code came up as pump failure in the transmission. The dealership and the manufacturer have both told me there is no recall on this vehicle. Yet every one in this complaint forum for this specific vehicle have said they have looked online to check for recalls and one of the recalls for the 2016 Chrysler town and country is a transmission pump failure. Are other websites that run VIN checks giving out misleading information or is it that multiple people with this vehicle are all having the same issue with there car stalling out and losing motive power. The NHTSA should be taking this matter seriously. You say right on your website that this stuff fuels you. Start fueling away until some one gets injured or dies because of this issue. Check out vehiclehistory. Com this year model and make. It shows it right on there the recall that every one of us seems to be having in this complaint forum. Yet no one can find a history of the recall. Transmission pump. Loss of motive power. Its right there. Is the website lying? why was 20,000+ cars affected? where are the answers we are looking for?.

12 Transmission Pump problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

The mechanic told me it is the transmission pump that had seized and failed. He also said there is a recall on my year vehicle. My vehicle VIN is not included in the recall but it presenting with the exact same problem as the stated in the recall. My vehicle also has a cracked left cylinder head. Vehicle began shaking at idol. I brought the vehicle into the shop and was told it is code p0304 cylinder 4 misfire. I was told the left cylinder head needs to be replaced. Was told by mechanic this has been an ongoing problem with this particular engine but no recall issued for my vehicle. I believe that both of these issues should be covered under the recall. My vehicle was purchased at a Chrysler dealership and I've only had it for 2 years. I have maintained it well and had all services performed on the vehicle since I've had it. In its state it is no longer drive able and the cost of repair exceeds the vehicles worth, making it a total loss.

Car start making loud noise. I could not drive faster then 25 miles in hour( lucky was close by my business). That was transmission problem. Did research and find out that happening with a lot of cars, transmission pump failure. Some cars received recall, I didn't.
