The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal whining sound while driving at various speeds. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who replaced the drive belts however, the noise persisted. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 35 mph, the vehicle began shaking and stalled while approaching a traffic light. The vehicle shut off as the vehicle came to a stop. After several attempts the vehicle restarted. Once the contact's husband made it to his place of employment, he had the vehicle towed to the residence and then back to the same independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective trans-axle oil pump. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 16v461000 (power train) which she linked to the failure however, the VIN was not included in the recal. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The vehicle will shudder and lose power when accelerating. You have to basically manually shift it if on a big hill. I didn't some research and seems to be a problem with this vehicle. Some people reported the problem starting around 12000 miles.

The vehicle shifts roughly from r to d and d to r. When accelerating at about 35 to 45, the vehicle delays the shift causing the car to shake before shifting to the proper gear.

1 week after I bought my van the car started vibrating when the vehicle was stopped (waiting at the light). I went to the dealer to ask them if there was a recall for this problem they first say that there was no problem and then I read that there was a recall for some vehicles having debris on the engines, so they replaced half of the heads in the engine. The vehicle stopped vibrating, but then I notice that when speeding or slowing down the vehicle does not responds to the change in gears or isn’t accelerating like it should. Also while coming to a stop the transmission would not downshift causing the car to lunge forward. It would vibrate when coming to stop.

Faulty transmission. Constantly hard shifts everywhere. Feels like the transmission is going to fall out of the vehicle every time you shift from reverse to drive ,or drive to park, or park to reverse. This is the second transmission on this vehicle. . I had the powertrain checked and the vehicle came out with no problems. Im afraid that I will be in an accident the vehicle shakes and stops abruptly while driving.

Think Toyota . I was accelerating from a light and let up on the gas but car kept accelerating . Next I put it in neutral motor kept racing. Got car stopped. In the middle of the road. Restarted car-still raceing. Next atempted to pull over so put my foot on brake and put it in gear van shook and shook til about 35 miles per hour{with brakes on} then a big thunk and it returned to normal. Xxxx in August it did smething similar. When aproaching a stop let up on gas {30 mph} van kept going pushed harder on brakes car shaking but slowing till the big thunk and then it stoped, part way into intersection. Not for the week of heart.

Transmission produces a loud knock and shakes car when placed into drive from a stop. Dealer stated that van shifts as designed and could not repair. Vehicle continues to knock and shake intermittently when placed in drive even when placed in drive slowly and with the greatest of care.
We have had many mechanical concerns with our new t&c 2011. We have taken our vehicle in many times to cerritos Dodge Chrysler dealership. After a failed attempt to fix something within the transmission, they completely replaced the transmission. There were still concerns and a week later the vehicle had belts and the water pump replaced. To date, many of our initial concerns still exist and are not being fixed. Concerns include: 1. Noises from under the hood. 2. Shudder/ shake while the vehicle is in reverse. 3. Keyless start malfunctions, it continues to read "defected key", after the keys have been reset, 4. While using keyless, the vehicle shuts off when putting the car into reverse/drive. 5. Rough idle, the vehicle seems to struggle to stay running. 6. When changing gears, the shift makes a clunking/grinding noise. The only consistent thing about this vehicle is its inconsistency. The dealership states that the noises are "normal". The regional area service manager has been contacted, and has sided with the dealership. Corporate has also been contacted, and they are investigating the current situation.

Vehicle has a shuddering effect while driving between 38-55 mph. The trans-axle has been rebuilt multiple times and lasts apprx. 12000 miles and then has to be rebuilt again. As the miles progress up from the rebuild the shuddering increases and the vehicle becomes a danger to drive. Chrysler position is that they fixed the issue and it is our problem. We are currently involved in a warranty suit against Chrysler, our attorney is krohn & moss. The case is scheduled for trial in Feb. 2013.

Brakes worn down in rear when driving 55mph and applying the brake the entire vehicle would vibrate Chrysler found out of round surface and cut rotors, problem still exists. The power sliding doors become inoperable Chrysler preformed a re-flash update problems still exists. Radio rer stops playing dvd's Chrysler preformed a re-flash problem still exists. This is brand new why all these problems? why was I sold a lemon?. All these problems I went back to the dealer at least three times for especially the transmission I almost got into an accident because when I was merging onto the parkway when I tried to accelerate it failed to move.

When going up hill (driveway) vehicle does not pull like normal, it hesitates and stutters. I must put it into low in order to pull the hill. Also, when reversing vehicle vibrates and moves very slowly. Vehicle drives fine in normal conditions, the only problem is pulling up hill after a stop and reversing at any time.
