Today is July 17, 2018. I discovered there were 6 recalls on the 2008 Dodge Avenger I purchased a month and a half ago, but the dealer never bothered to disclose any of this information to me. When I asked why the sensor light was on I was told it was nothing important, just the air pressure on the tires due to leakage, and all it needed was a cap on the valve stem. The caps on the valve stems of two wheels were replaced but the light stayed on. A few days after the purchase, I was driving about 66 mph when the car started jerking as if the fuel was gasping; it scared me to death! two weeks after the purchase, the engine light came on while I was driving on the freeway, and wouldn't go off; the car must be taken in for diagnostic which I'm told will cost almost $100 to find out why the engine light was on. I'm afraid to drive it with the engine light on and the other light blinking, so the car will just set in the parking area until I can raise enough money to pay for the $250 deductible on the extended warranty I purchased for $1,500, and the problem may not even be covered by the warranty. Also, first the dealer sold me the car without a key fob which I knew nothing about it until the horn started honking and lights started flashing when I unlocked the door to get back into the car a couple of days after the purchase. The sales person told me I could get one made at a discount, but when I went back to purchase it I was told I was mistaken. After shopping around it cost me over $100 to get one made (though the dealer would have charged me over $200. ).
The trans mission fluid is leaking. The windshield wiper hook up under the hood is broken. The gas cap is broken. I just put on a new alternator on 9/28/2019 and also the engine light stays on.
The 2008 Dodge aveneger had 6 recalls. My 2009 Dodge Avenger is doing everything the 08 was recalled for.
The car would just shut off while on the freeway and would take long time to power back on. Head rest air bag deployed while driving causing to lose control of car. Windows unlocks while driving. Dealership using the same totally integrated power module that are on recall Chrysler 2000.

Brake recall: the brakes grab or slow to stop causing it to not stop in a straight line or jump, flutter or hesitate to brake. Engine recall: got car 6/2017 clinging noise, after 70,000 miles, all oil changes 1000 miles before its due, started after the 2 oil change. Small of burning wire smell. (oil change 4 days go now engine light on) fuel propusion system recall: car seems to shift funny when pushing gas, struggling for gas to flow when pushing the gas.
Brake engages. Engine: not accelerating, strange sound. Just purshaced the car 1 month ago.
The electronic throttle control light comes on and off randomly . Sometimes when driving it will experience loss of power and or rough idling . Sometimes it will seem as if the gas pedal is being pressed on its own . Sometimes it will lose power and only do 10 mph even with the gas pedal floored . Sometimes the car dies completely . Usually turning the car off and back on again will somewhat fix it where it will at least drive .

Electronic throttle control is not working my car loses power and won't go over 25 mpg if that which could cause a accident if I am driving along then all of a sudden that light with two lighting bolts come on and the power goes. I have seen on the internet several people with this same problem and wonder why Dodge is not doing something about it. They must know because this part is under warranty for only three years and that is when it goes is after three years warranty is up. I like Dodge and will probably keep buying there but I wish they would look further into this problem and fix it they could gain a lot more loyal customers if they did. This problem happens when in drive or driving some where and it will not go up hills at all stalls out when this is happening.
Running rich and code p2004 has to do with intake being stuck open.
Our 2008 Dodge Avenger spews fuel out of the fuel port while fueling at any gas station every time we put fuel in the car. Our Dodge 2008 Dodge nitro had a recall for the same issue and was repaired, why isn't there one for the Avenger?.
Loss of power and prevented the vechile from accelerating past 10-15mph. Ive been going into dealers for same type of items. They just keep resetting code. Send me away. Today I was stranded. Need help.
There are two existing recalls on my vehicle for the fuel system and the electrical system. I have contacted mopar on 2 separate occasions and have been told my VIN number is not one of the cars affected. I do not believe this to be true and want something to be done.
I feel these. Recalls should be done on my car because I don't feel safe and was beg informed about any of them and my car is having issues due to them.
The brakes suddenly failed. I was able to stop the car by standing on the brakes. I if I had been in traffic I would have crashed. The engine was shaking very hard and it would not accelerate to get it off the road. Two lights came on. The electronic throttle control and the one that shows a picture of a car on a slippery road. The next day the lights were off and it behaved normally. Then it reoccurred. I am taking it to a dealer but sudden loss of braking is unacceptable and from what I read on the internet a lot of people have had this same issue.
The air bag warning light illuminated. Few days later began hearing a clicking under the dashboard behind the glove box. Received notice for recall. Due to location nearest Dodge dealership is 2 hours away. Decided to wait. A short time later, the car began to lose power briefly intermittently. Once again, due to location decided to wait. Two days ago the car stalled completely while traveling at 45 miles per hour. No steering, no brakes, nothing. Scared me. Trying to find someone locally to look at it. Today it died in the middle of a very busy intersection. Once again, coming to the intersection the car dropped below 1,000 rpms and then dies.
My car has 70,000 miles on it it leaks transmission fluid leaking oil bad the suspension is leaking on the right la air condition vent every time I put it on defrost it flickers for about 5 minutes even when the car is off the windshield wipers come on by their self anytime only highway seems like when I accelerate the car stalls on me has lost a lot of power I have the whole replaced in it every 3000 miles y'all did it for the first three years now I keep it up it's also leaking water out of the radiator I feel the bottle up about a gallon a week my brakes squeal all time I replace them once and I bought the best they had and they still squeak mainly in reverse after 50000 tousand miles is car has gave me nothing but problem after problem I've almost got it paid for I was trying to hurry up pay it off so I can get rid of it and getting me something else I would like a Dodge truck if they are dependable thank you for your time francis houston author ray jordan jr.
Gas spills out when pumping gas even after the pump shuts off. Dodge said they will not cover it. This is a safety hazard.
I bought this vehicle on 11-04-2015. After just one day the check engine light came on & obd2 scan revealed air leak in fuel system. New gas cap installed & check engine light continues to stay on. I plan to get the vehicle checked out by Dodge dealership if this issue continues. I would also like to know if there is any way to come back & edit this comment if problem is resolved. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Avenger. While driving approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle hesitated as if it were going to stall and the electrical system warning indicator and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the failure was directly related to NHTSA campaign number: 3v043000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 60,000.
While driving at about 35 miles per hour, I lost speed down to about 15 miles per hour. I had to stop, turn off the engine and restart. The issue did not reoccur, but there have been a few more times when the acceleration has decreased and then just started again and I took off faster than I wanted to go.
I was stopped at a red light; once the light turned green, I stepped on the gas to go and the vehicle jerked lightly; the warning light for which I now know is the throttle body sensor, blinked on and off; I attempted to give it gas but it would not go past 10 mph; the rpms went up but the speedometer would not move; I have not had any other issues with the vehicle after owning it for 5 years with regular maintenance; the brake down occurred at 101,700 miles; the vehicle is currently being repaired at Dodge dealership at a cost of $530.
After pulling into highway, accelerator ceased to work once speed hit 15 mph and etc warning light flashed. Pulled into parking lot, turned car off and back on, and same problem repeated. Research revealed numerous instances of the same problem all leading back to problems with the throttle body. Cleaned throttle body and problem went away until three miles down the road when it returned--this time accelerator worked until 30 mph.
Throttle position warning indicator (red lightning bolt) lit while at highway speed, sudden loss of power, could not drive vehicle over 35 mph. Problem happened twice during a two week time frame, during cold/ snowy conditions.
After being stopped in traffic for a few minutes I released the brake to accelerate, the car began to sputter and stalled immediately afterwards. I then put the car in park, turned it off and it restarted with no problems. It has done this once a week for the last three weeks. The check engine light has not come on at any point. I ran a diagnostic with the obd2 and it produces no codes.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and the service engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id numbers: 08v528000 (power train) and 09v047000 (fuel system, other). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000. Djr.
The throttle body on my car has to be replaced. My son has had numerous incidents of the car running rough, seemingly not getting enough gas, and the final straw before taking to the shop was when it the engine died as he was driving. This car is only three years old with approximately 62,000 miles on it. It is not at all acceptable for this part to go bad given the age / miles of the car. After speaking with several shop owners and technicians, I've found that this has been a common failure on late model Dodge vehicles. In addition the the throttle failure, he has no heat coming in the passenger side of the car. Only cold air as if something is stuck open. This began the later part of last winter when the car was just two years old. He just dealt with it at the time due to lack of money. With winter coming, this will need to be addressed right away as well. Then we have the power mirror not working on one side. Which also began last year. And last but not least, the airbag light is on. I did see that there is a recall having to do with one of the airbags. I will schedule that right away, but it remains to be seen if that is why the airbag light is on.
While driving to work today I lost all power and noticed a red lighting bolt on the dash. I would try to accelerate but could not going more then 1600 rpm's. I pulled over and killed the engine. When I started it I was able to drive for about 1 minute and it happened again. I was able to get home and later found out the lighting bolt was the electronic control throttle body. I called the dealer and they want $550 to install it or $330 for a new part. Reading forums I seen that many people have this issue and need to replace the entire throttle body because there are little plastic gears that get stripped. I found a place on line for $180 and will replace it but I think it is disappointing that I am replacing this part when I only have 60k miles on it.
The etc(electronic throttle control) light came on and essentially put the car into limp mode and almost caused my wife to end up in an accident driving at roughly 75mph in rush hour traffic. Took it to the shop and they replaced a valve and said the codes were reading that it had restricted air flow. The problem happened again resulting a potential accident on the interstate. Through research, I have come to find out its the throttle body and Dodge's inability to put quality into their parts. Example being the plastic gears within the etc unit of the throttle body. I understand that problems occur and parts break but with the amount of complaints that I have seen about this particular issue, Dodge needs to be held responsible for putting this kind of low quality craftsmanship within their vehicles.
The seats move around as if they are not bolted down properly. Any speed if you hit a small bump or so much as move other then straight it’s extremely noticeable. I don’t think it is safe and my kids are in this car daily and I was hoping a recall would have already been called on this because I know I’m mot the only one with this issue with both front seats moving around as if it’s a carnival ride. And the cruise control stopped working in 2016. Also has always made a weird sound under the hood and come to find out I have had a bad transmission the whole time I have owned this car, also a common issue I have heard from many people. Also these cars have several different censor problems that keep having to be replaced as well as energy draining batteries more than they should. The hoses and injectors also have been a major problem. I thought I just got unlucky with my car but everyone I know has soooo many problems with these cars it’s actually crazy they didn’t stop making them sooner. I’m the only driver and owner of this car and drive like a grandma I have been told so I do know it’s not how I have been with the car, also regular oil changes and maintenance as needed on top of thousands to keep her running as I bought it brand new and refuse to let it die on me after it’s paid off.
