2009 Dodge Avenger. Consumer writes in regards to defective tire air pressure sensor. The consumer took the vehicle to a service center, where it was discovered that a tire pressure sensor had developed a hole in the threaded side that caused loss of air. There was no indication of damage. Apparently, it was just a hole.

4 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger equipped with bridge stone turanza el41 tires, size: 215/16. 5r17. The contact was adding air to the tires and noticed that the plastic valve cover was missing, causing air to seep from the tires. The contact drove to his residence when he then noticed that the front passenger side tire had become flat. The tires were taken to a local tire shop where the contact was advised that the air presser senor failed. The tires were not replaced and the air pressure sensor was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 32,111. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring); however, the contact is currently experiencing the failures associated with the recall.
