4 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 10/07/2014

Driver's side headlight went out again. And then one day the car wouldn't start. Jumped the car and it started. We just had the tipm replaced a few months ago. This time they found a burnt tipm connector pin. They replaced the connector and could not duplicate the no-start condition.

5 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

The car would not start (lights worked, but engine would not turn over). After replacing the throttle cable and box, as well as some broken wiring, the car still would not start. The mechanic then towed the vehicle to a Dodge dealership, where the computer was reset. The car ran for another week after it was first "fixed," and then again did not start (same problem as before). Additionally, the light to indicate that the air bags were not functioning turned on prior to the vehicle not starting. This is more frustrating because we have had extensive issues with this car (replaced all tie rods, bushings, control arms, have a broken door from the hinge breaking, and had multiple tires wearing unevenly due to the car's suspension problems) already, and have sunk well over $6000 in repairs this year alone.

6 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/29/2014

My wife and daughter were driving down the highway when the car with no warning shut off almost causing an accident this is not the first time the car has gave us problems with shutting off while driving or not starting at all, the last incident the car would not start and I was out of town so she had it towed to the dealership and the said there was a mouse best under the air filter causing it not to start, I am a certified automotive and diesel technician I service this car frequently and there has never been signs of mouse intrusion this last incident was a little over a week ago when the car stalled at highway speeds so I trailered the car to the shop I am employed with and diagnosed it myself , I found several recalls on the tipm module for the 07 Dodge Caliber on the online repair website alldata so I called multiple Dodge dealers asking if the car was due for a recall and they said there were never any recalls on the vehicle I don't feel like I should have to pay 300$ for a module that Chrysler has recalled and is causing thousand of people to be stranded and injured, not to mention having to wait weeks for the module because so many if them are on back order needless to say this have been a very agitating situation.

8 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/12/2013

While driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber se in a street between 40mph and 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly shutdown itself. Five second later and after pulling over as close as I could to the curve of the road, the car died. I tried to restart the engine to move it out of the way of the traffic, but the vehicle did not start. Smoke started coming out under the hood, and after further examination, I saw sparks and smoke coming out off the fuses' box. I disconnected the battery and waited for the smoke to clear up. Using a flash light, I found out that one of the circuit card in the totally integrated power module (tipm) shorted and melted part of the plastic cover. The vehicle couldn't be put in neutral, and the break pedal and steering wheel were inoperative. If this incident happened in a high way, I am sure that the incoming traffic could have hit my car with speed over 65mph due to suddenly deceleration and lack of vehicle's response to the driver's commands. My wife, three years old daughter and I could have been involved in a fatal crash.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/22/2011

First incident occured in the morning, vehicle stalled and restarted on it's own going around a curve. Later that day in the afteroon, vehicle stalled going around yet another curve this time not restarting. After being towed to a dealership, the pcm was flashed and I was told all would be well. Stalls on off ramp of interstate 30 miles later going 55 mph. Towed again, tipm module was replaced. Vehicle stalls again and restarts on interstate five days later going 75 mpg, dealership claims no problem this time, no codes and cannot duplicate issue after a 148 mile test drive. Stalled again a month later going down a hill at 15 mph, pcm flashed as no error codes were stored for repair at 9,931 miles. 12/08/11 vehicle stalls again going 70 mph on interstate on a bridge over a river with heavy traffic at 10,542 miles. No accident, car will not start for owner with two attempts, turns over once and stalls for two driver on his three attempts. Car started once towed to dealership. Dealership states started for them to pull into garage was was just notifed Chrysler engineers believe the problem this time is a win module. Car has stalled whilst moving now 5 times and has been disabled over 30 days total.

10 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/10/2011

Every so often the car will not start when you put the key in the ignition and turn it. It does nothing, makes no noise. It acts as if you did nothing. You turn the key and nothing happens. Most times, when you turn the key back to the original position and try again, it will start as if nothing was wrong. It is just weird. This has happened to me at least 15 times over the past year and a half.

11 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/16/2008

Car wouldn't start because of defective tipm. I often travel the freeway and was experiencing a brief pause in the fuel systems while trying to accelerate. After research I have found that this is a common issue with a variety of Dodge model cars and feel that this could be very dangerous to the public in general. I feel the implications that this type of system failure has on these models as well as their safety feature is numerous. I also quite sure that the company is well aware of its defects, yet they are doing nothing to protect their consumers.

12 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 02/20/2008

After purchasing my Dodge Caliber in February or 2008 I noticed the gas gauge was not consistently accurate. It took a total of 6 months for schaefer and strohminger to "fix" it. I called them afterwards to tell them it was better but not completely correct and they put me off several times. They said they would call the engineer and follow up with me. That never happened even after the ceo of the vehicle maintenance department told me I met the lemon law requirements. During this time the car began to hesitate from time to time when starting. I also asked them about that problem. They could not figure out the problem after having it in the shop twice. About a year later the car wouldn't start and left me stranded at work. It was towed to the nearest dealership. I called ahead to talk to the mechanic who knew exactly what my problem was because he'd had several others need to be replaced already in the Caliber. It was the wireless control module. While still under warranty they replaced it. It's been a few months now and the car has hesitated while starting 4 times already. Obviously there is a fault in the wireless control module unit they are using. Finally, I'm taking it back to have them check the water in the driver's side tail light and wet carpet behind the driver's side seat. I'm very dissatisfied with this car and do not plan on buying from Dodge or schaefer and strohminger again.
