** from dealer - diagnosis says - primary line b: d1 c/s multiple warning lights came on in dash (like a x-mas tree) and vehicle will not want to drive after that. C/s has to turn off and turn back on to get to move. C/a tipm – total integrated power module – verified customer concern found vehicle with loss of comm dts with tipm no VIN mis match dtc present and more than one module aginst tipm recommend replacement of tipm and retesting at this time. The tipm module controls most if not all of the body functions of the car or truck. Everything from wipers and headlights, starting system and so on. It accepts signals from many diff switches and modules in the car and translates them to the connected systems. $2128. 00 is total cost of repair at Dodge lithia – this should be a recall. There are only about 63,000 miles on her vehicle. ** safety of driver (my mother in law who is [xxx] or niece) put at risk because car just slows down and stops while driving. She pulls over, stops car, then when she starts car again it's okay for a while until it does this again. ** safety of those on the road, if her car dies while she's driving it and she has to pull off, if car won't drive, she is stopped on the road or highway with other cars behind hopefully stopping to let her pull off the road. ** yes it was inspected and reproduced by dealer. Dealer (Dodge lithia in kennewick, wa) gave us this information above primary line b, etc lights all come on dash looking like a christmas tree. . . . ** no warning lights for this specific issues, only that all dash lights come on like a christmas tree, we paid $300 for one mechanic who couldn't diagnose. Now Dodge has said it's a $2000+ fix - and hopefully this will fix the issue??? ** the only symptom is dashboard lights up, car slows down (DE-celerates) and then won't go. Car is turned off, then turned back on and it drives again, then it happens again. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Horn started honking on its own.
The air bag light and sound are going off without any collision or accident type. Just randomly started going off. Airbags have never been deployed and goes off with or without weight on the seats.

The entire underneath of my car is rusted out. I was driving to work one day when someone pulled out in front of me and I had to hit the brakes. That resulted in the subframe and front drivers axel to break as I’m driving! the sunroof leaks when it rains and half the time the electricity doesn’t work on the sunroof button. My doors have completely stopped auto locking and my hazards will randomly start flashing without pushing the button. Steering is absolutely terrible, it feels like you’re skidding on ice or hydroplaning the entire drive.

I recently only had my 2012 Dodge Caliber for a year now and out of that year it’s been giving me problems since I had it! the car had completely shut down on me for weeks while I was in the process of burying my father in law who gave me covid after he passed. Weeks later we ended up figuring out what the issue was which was the tipm. I remember having to tap the battery with a wire for it to start and it didn’t matter what the weather looked like. Well that didn’t last long because it broke down on me again after I’ve replaced almost everything there was under the hood; the battery, the alternator, the fuses to the tipm and relay, the brake light switch, the ignition switch and all the fuses. Now here it is I’m making a car payment and still paying insurance for a vehicle I haven’t driven in months. I ended up researching this car and I see these cars are not reliable and I wish I would have known especially with two small children I already have! I recently read that this vehicle was in a dealer auction but never was told why; not once but twice actually. I despise these cars if I knew what I know now I would of never got this vehicle. I still owe 5grand on this car at that so I’m right back at square one but this go round got two extra bills that I waste money in.

Passenger side headlight and driver's side tail light not working. Bulbs have been replaced and tested as to being good. Went on internet and found this to be a very common problem with Dodge and Chrysler vehicles, many times requiring replacement of the tpim. Grounds have been checked as good. Dealer says repair requires replacement of the tipm for $1,600. 00!! vehicle lighting are safety items covered by vehicle laws. These are safety issues and customers should not be held hostage for ransom for their poor design. Dodge and Chrysler should be replacing these tipms when they start failing without cost to customers.
My throttle body keeps going in and out which cause me to have to get an alternator replaced twice plus a crankshaft twice. Now my car is smoking which is the valve cover gasket . Also my car lights went out one at a time so my driver side lights wnt work at all in the front and the passenger side front won't work just my signal on the passenger side. Also my dashboard won't work properly it keeps goin on and off as I turn on other lights in my car . When I signal left my car light on the roof comes on. I spent $12000 on this car from a dealership and have done nothing but put money into it more than I paid for it.
Car slowed down and electronic throttle control light and traction control light came on was dangerously slow to accelerate and would not maintain speed.
On multiple occasions vehicle completely shuts down and locks up when slowing down and turning. Almost rear-ended and then t-boned in middle of intersection. Takes several minutes to restart and unlock steering wheel then drives fine.
I was driving at night time and my left side lowbeam headlight went out. Then briefly after the right side. I put my highbeams on to finish my trip home and then right before I made it home they both went out. Upon having the vehicle diagnosed it would be a $1000 part plus labor known as the tipm. My friend has his own garage and he jumped power from my foglights. My headlights now work but he said he won't be long until other things start failing. Now my dash lights went out 2 weeks ago while I was on the interstate. I immediately pulled over and tried turning the car off and on and nothing. So I turned on my hazard flashers and drove 25 miles home with no dash lights. They will flicker on and off so rapidly I turned my dimmer switch the whole way down so it doesn't distract me while driving. Apparently the tipm in these cars is a widely known issue after very little research I found over thousands of failed units in people's vehicles. Dodge should be liable for this mess!.
New parts , problems still exist. New battery being drained and/shorting out. Negative terminal is getting hot. Has burned up 2 new altinators! battery light comes on shortly after new battery installed. New alternators and batteries are being ruined. Prior to all this car would stall in traffic. This car is unsafe! also can smell something burning under the hood even when ignition is off. I have disconnected the battery in fear of this car catching fire. Faulty ticm? I'm at wits end! money pit! should have a recall. All ground connections are good and both battery terminals have been replaced. Nothing I have done has solved the problem.
For the last two weeks I have been losing throttle control. I have replaced both electronic throttle bodies. Nothing is helping. This vehicle is unsafe to drive because yoy never know when it is going to shut down on you. It could be at a red light or going 65 on the highway. This needs to be a recall.
The electronic throttle control went out on me as I was entering the freeway. The etc is basically the car losing all power but the vehicle does not shut off only the gas peddle loses all power. It was very scary when your litteraly carrying your entire family including your doggy.
The front calipers will not engage when brake pedal is pressed. The brake pedal sinks to the floor and has no stopping power. The master cylinder was replaced and calipers are new replacements. After replacing these parts it now smell of burnt brake fluid but there is no leak and the problem seems to worsen. The first time I was doing 45-50 on a county rd when a another car pulled out 20 feet away and I was trying to slow down when I lost the front brakes as pished in on the pushed in on the brakes the pedal sank and they didn't engage. I then bought the new calipers and it was fine for about a month. The second time I was stuck in traffic on a busy city street when the abs brakes failed resulting in me running a red light and almost getting hit. It has corroded and took hunks off aluminum from my front driver rim. I have not been able to figure out what the problem and keep replacing parts for it to tear up new ones.
2007 Dodge Caliber. The tipm box is malfunctioned, and continues to be. This is an issue associated with the stock, factory tipm box.
The tips is shorting out. Going to cost 2200 to fix. This is a recall in other vehicles around the same year. Why does it not apply to the Caliber. Seems to be an issue. Looked into several forums with same issue that keeps popping up.
This problem occurs when the vehicle is stationary and in motion. The vehicle will start to freak out by losing all of its gauges and controls, also the air bag, electrical, abs and check engine will come on. There was no warning signs when this initially occurred. I took it to a dealer and they claimed the it was the tipm (total integrated power module) and its super common with Dodge products. I was informed that there is a recall on other Dodge products for this very issue but not the Caliber. I do not understand this nor how if this is a problem on other models from the same year it can be covered under warranty but not for this car.
Every now and then we will be driving the vehicle and the windshield wipers will stop working. I check all the fuses and everything seems good but they stop. The only way to get them back working is to remove the negative battery post from the battery for 10 minutes. I done research and they were saying something about the tipm module. We are concerned for our safety. All this happened in brevard, nc pulling into ingles.

I have had this problem since the beginning of ownership. The car won't start, I have had so many batteries thinking this was the problem. The car won't start even with a new battery or the battery will have to be replaced within months. I plan to go somewhere and can't because it won't start. . . Like right now. I haven't been able to start it in days. Sometimes by wiggling the wires I can start it but now it is so bad it won't start.
Dash light not working at night. Can't see speedometer at night.
While driving my car speed lowered and the trans temp light and esp light and traction control and etb module light came car won't go over 40 and remains in limp mode even after taking it to the shop.
Luckily, I was on a city street. The vehicle lost power and slowed significantly, almost stopping completely and began to reboot as if it were just being started. I am complaining because I do not feel it to be safe for consumers on any road. I have a 3 year old son and I would very much like Dodge to fix this problem before my, or anyone else's family, gets whiplash from a rear collision. I'm reaching out to NHTSA because, I lack the tools and knowledge to fix it myself, and don't find it fair that I pay for a mistake that Dodge made in making the car.
Started vehicle which had been running perfectly fine, just got a oil change a few days prior. Started driving and the car starts sputtering like it was going to die. The etc symbol started to flash and car would only go 5-10 mph when this happened I was already driving at 40mph when the car just started to slow down to the 5 miles and sputter.
I recently brought a used vehicle, when I took it for a test drive everything ran smoothly and things were working just fine, no problems. I drove the car home and when I got out the vehicle and tried to use the keypad to lock the doors, it didn't work and actually started the car than the alarm went off. I had to start the engine and shut it back off and manually go and lock all doors because I also noticed the lock door button on the door did not work but the window buttons does. I immediately called them and informed them of the issue that I was experiencing. About 1 week went by and I started to feel the car dragging when trying to accelerate as well as the check engine light and gas cap light coming on. And most of all I noticed how quickly the mileage was moving versus the mileage I signed it at. I also called in and reported what I was experiencing, they suggested I bring in the vehicle to a shop they contract with to see the problem and resolve it. I took the vehicle in on the next available day for me for about 4-6 hours, I was called back to pick the vehicle back up. The check engine light and gas cap light was off but nothing else as far as the electrical problem within the car, and the dragging feeling as well as the mileage troubleshooting. I wasn't satisfied with the work that was done, so I called again to report the troubles and request for a refund because I was not satisfied with the vehicle and how high the mileage goes when I only drive 25 miles back and forth 6 days a week. I've had the vehicle for 8 weeks now, and this car maintenance is poor as well as I have a strong feeling the cars been tampered with because of the damage to one of the vents in the car on the dash board, as well as the car needing an oil change already and I only had the vehicle since March 20, 2020.
Transmission constantly over heats dispite having the fluids flushed and changed. The inside light flash like they are going out and the transmission whines and whines at 60 to 70 mph. I've had this car since 2013 and have had 3 recalls. These vehicles seem to be extremely unsafe and I'm not sure why they're still on the streets. All of this happens while driving anywhere.
The throttle light came on and now my car is wont pick up speed only 10mph and its puttering and jerking. So I replaced the throttle body unit and did a relearn on the car and its still acting funky. I saw its a recall on the 2007 Dodge cablier other ppl are complaining about this same problem . . Its very unsafe to drive a car like this with my family.
Cluster lights, back lighting for climate control knobs and tail lights flicker three times and then go off. This happens any time when turning on lights, whether at vehicle start-up or when driving down highway. Makes for unsafe night time driving.
My 2008 Dodge Caliber stalled out when driving & had the electronic throttle body control lights go off. ( we traded instead of fixing) not 1 week later my 2014 Dodge avenger has this same electronic throttle body control and stalled on the highway!!!!! the shop that is trying to fix this just has another avenger fixed for the same issue ! why have these not been recalled? if someone gets hurt stalling out on a highway because of this, there is going to be issues.
The recall u have that u say has not effected mine has. I've already put a new engine in the car and a gas tank, all the lines and now the car is still shutting off/down on its own. The recall is exactly wat the mechanic says needs done and he doesn't have the equipment to do the repair. No advanced read out machinery to change or reprogram. I need this recall on mine. There's no way u got every one that was recalled. Like I said jeff bradley is the mechanic that's fine all the work the new motor the gas tank and lines, and now it's still shutting down. There is no dash lights that cone n at all.
Car shuts off while driving check engine light comes on car will bot drive ofer 20 mph. It is very dangerous to just shut down. Seen many issues with the dame thing and it is being said it is tipm. They dealer has said they go bad repeatedly due to corrosion because of a bad design. It is crazy having to pay 2000+ dollars to replace the same part multiple times to be just shut down in the middle of a road or interstate while driving. Has happened 5 times so dat.
When in cruise control at between 70-75 mph and going up a long incline (cajon pass) the electrical light comes on and the car quits running, and to date starts again after losing about 5mph after several heartbeats. This has been happening intermittently since the car was new with less than 6000 miles on it.
At first, the service engine soon light would begin flashing when I hit the accelerator pedal and I lost power. Could not go over 35 mph. Then by the time I made it off the highway, the light stayed flashing all the time. And I have not been able to regain proper power at all. It uses a ton of gas and when sitting in park, if I push the break pedal, there is a clicking noise under where the shifter is located. With losing power on the highway, other traffic and myself were in danger. I looked online and many many ppl have the same issue with no luck of fixing the problem even after hundreds of dollars at the mechanic. Also, many have filed complaints and have gotten no where and very negative responses when calling Dodge. I dont have hundreds of dollars for repairs as I am on disability. Hope this has became a recall issue and I dont have a huge out of pocket expense. I travel to drs alot.
There is a known issue with the tipm in these vehicles and they have been recalled in other models with the same tipm when this module fails the headlights stop working and there is no repair other then paying Dodge to fix it and they want 1000$ they have recalled other models of Chrysler jeeps and Dodges which have this same module but not the Caliber. I believe this should be addressed. My lights failed when I was driving at night. So this is a major issue.
While driving vehicle during winter, heat shut off. After turning heat back on (moving knob to off position and then back on) there was an electrical smoke smell in the cabin. Once the vehicle was parked, a large amount of smoke appeared to be coming from the air conditioner blower control knob and the area above the knob was hot to the touch almost to the point where I was concerned that I may need to call the fire department to have them check for fire. When car was turned on again, the blower motor would not start.
