Cruise Control Problems of Dodge Caliber

When in cruise control at between 70-75 mph and going up a long incline (cajon pass) the electrical light comes on and the car quits running, and to date starts again after losing about 5mph after several heartbeats. This has been happening intermittently since the car was new with less than 6000 miles on it.

The cross member on the underside is badly corroded and should be replaced but is a little expensive. I have had to already replace both control arms, both ball joints and one had already been replaced by after market ball joint. The struts have had to be replaced as well. A car with these miles should not need all this front end work. I have seen this to be not just my situation. My cruise control worked when we bought this vehicle with 85,000 now does not work.

Cpsc: i1340364a. 2008 Dodge Caliber. Consumer stated while driving the car at 70 mph down the interstate the power suddenly went out, and the car was decelerating speed at the same time. The consumer stated the cruise control was activated, and just as she was trying to pull over, the power returned, and the vehicle took off, trying to get back to 70 mph. Ever since the incident, the vehicle would stall while accelerating. I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber sxt manual transmission. The vehicle has a cruise control problem which neither the dealership nor Chrysler will fix. The problem with the cruise control is it will turn off and not set if at or above 75 mph nor will it stay on if over 70 mph and the vehicle is experiencing a load like a hill. I was told that the vehicle was operating as designed however they checked my vehicle against one on the lot and could not get the one from the lot to produce the same action. When I purchased the vehicle the cruise control would not turn off for this reason. I am now afraid if I do use the cruise control that since it will turn off by it's self there is a possibility that it won't turn off which could cause an accident.
