1 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/27/2022

Passenger side headlight and driver's side tail light not working. Bulbs have been replaced and tested as to being good. Went on internet and found this to be a very common problem with Dodge and Chrysler vehicles, many times requiring replacement of the tpim. Grounds have been checked as good. Dealer says repair requires replacement of the tipm for $1,600. 00!! vehicle lighting are safety items covered by vehicle laws. These are safety issues and customers should not be held hostage for ransom for their poor design. Dodge and Chrysler should be replacing these tipms when they start failing without cost to customers.

2 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

My throttle body keeps going in and out which cause me to have to get an alternator replaced twice plus a crankshaft twice. Now my car is smoking which is the valve cover gasket . Also my car lights went out one at a time so my driver side lights wnt work at all in the front and the passenger side front won't work just my signal on the passenger side. Also my dashboard won't work properly it keeps goin on and off as I turn on other lights in my car . When I signal left my car light on the roof comes on. I spent $12000 on this car from a dealership and have done nothing but put money into it more than I paid for it.

3 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 12/09/2021

Driver's side headlight stopped working and the bulb is still good. Called the dealership and apparently this is a common problem they know that they r trying to charge 1200 dollors to fix. They should have to fix the headlights because it's the manufacturers fault that they don't work correctly. Can't drive this car anymore cause you can't see to drive at night. Because the headlights don't work and it's not because of the bulbs. It's the manufacturers installation that was done wrong. .

5 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/15/2021

I was driving at night time and my left side lowbeam headlight went out. Then briefly after the right side. I put my highbeams on to finish my trip home and then right before I made it home they both went out. Upon having the vehicle diagnosed it would be a $1000 part plus labor known as the tipm. My friend has his own garage and he jumped power from my foglights. My headlights now work but he said he won't be long until other things start failing. Now my dash lights went out 2 weeks ago while I was on the interstate. I immediately pulled over and tried turning the car off and on and nothing. So I turned on my hazard flashers and drove 25 miles home with no dash lights. They will flicker on and off so rapidly I turned my dimmer switch the whole way down so it doesn't distract me while driving. Apparently the tipm in these cars is a widely known issue after very little research I found over thousands of failed units in people's vehicles. Dodge should be liable for this mess!.

8 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/20/2020

I recently brought a used vehicle, when I took it for a test drive everything ran smoothly and things were working just fine, no problems. I drove the car home and when I got out the vehicle and tried to use the keypad to lock the doors, it didn't work and actually started the car than the alarm went off. I had to start the engine and shut it back off and manually go and lock all doors because I also noticed the lock door button on the door did not work but the window buttons does. I immediately called them and informed them of the issue that I was experiencing. About 1 week went by and I started to feel the car dragging when trying to accelerate as well as the check engine light and gas cap light coming on. And most of all I noticed how quickly the mileage was moving versus the mileage I signed it at. I also called in and reported what I was experiencing, they suggested I bring in the vehicle to a shop they contract with to see the problem and resolve it. I took the vehicle in on the next available day for me for about 4-6 hours, I was called back to pick the vehicle back up. The check engine light and gas cap light was off but nothing else as far as the electrical problem within the car, and the dragging feeling as well as the mileage troubleshooting. I wasn't satisfied with the work that was done, so I called again to report the troubles and request for a refund because I was not satisfied with the vehicle and how high the mileage goes when I only drive 25 miles back and forth 6 days a week. I've had the vehicle for 8 weeks now, and this car maintenance is poor as well as I have a strong feeling the cars been tampered with because of the damage to one of the vents in the car on the dash board, as well as the car needing an oil change already and I only had the vehicle since March 20, 2020.

17 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Totally integrated power module problems. Having all kinds of cascading electrical problems with this car with only 70k miles. Driver's side low beam will no longer work. Engine intermittently stops/starts. Acceleration issues, etc. Chrysler wants over a $1,000. 00 to address this issue, and the replacement tipm would likely fail in similar manner shortly thereafter. Extremely unsafe car day or night.

Car shaking while driving engine light on and dash lights keep flashing.

19 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

The lights and all dash gauges turn off while driving and all the warning lights on the dash come on. The engine light stays on until the car is turned off. When restarting all lights go away. This happens most often when when I am braking. No pattern for when or what speed. Abs seems to kick in for no reason during this electrical failure. Power has been lost and car has died while driving. I am told this is the tpim module fault that requires replacement for $1,500. 00! there is large and common problem with this tpim and Dodge has wrongly not provided a recall for the Caliber.

20 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

Power in vehicle began to drain 47 miles from my house going 60 to 75mph after going 75 to 80 mph temperature out side is about 50 degrees. The car acts as if it were going to stall the radio power went out. After that I tested to see if it were the lights still worked and upon turning the lights on all lights in the car dimed completely. I went 28 miles to my appointment with no accessories on to include the heater. And radio would not get power until sitting for 30min. On the trip retuning home 30miles in to my trip returning home going 60 to 75 miles highest speed for 20miles of the first 30 miles the car power started to drain. Just took it to big o tires today and was confirmed no battery issues the battery is in good condition. I have to spend $100 to do testing now. It is winter here I can not risk my life in a car that can not operate in the cold or after only 44000 miles acts like it will not operate. It happened before at highway speeds last year when I hit 35000 miles. I did some research online that this has happened in warmer climates as well at 55000 miles. Please look in to this I no longer trust my car to drive 75mph on highway. And I dear not go 75miles away from home if it can't take a 150 mile trip its not worth paying of a car last check the loan is $11,000. If the problems were known the car should have never been resold by any dealer. If I was not able to use another car I would be more upset than I am now this car is only good for an elder to go to the store and back. I wont be using this car outside my city limits its not safe.

25 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

My drivers side driving light was out so I bought a new bulb. That didnt fix the problem so I looked online and saw everyone was having the same problem and it seems to be the tipm which is around 1000. 00 to fix. If we are all having the same problem I would think it's something that Dodge should be taking care of not the consumer!.

26 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

Head light went out, after checking the bulb and found it good. Did some research and found I need to invest $1200. 00 to replace the tipm. Head lights are a required service on any automobile to drive on public highway. When is Dodge going to take responsibility and issue a recall and solution to fix this problem before any loss of life is incurred. By their knowing this problem exists they are open a large law suit when an injury occurs.

27 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated when the lights are turned on the driver side lights fail to illuminate. The approximate failure mileage was 61,055. Vf.

28 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 12/05/2013

While driving on the highway in the dark both of my low beam lights went out leaving me with high beams only. Have found out like numerous other Caliber owners that my tipm needs replaced due to corrosion and that all the wiring needs checked for corrosion as well. Have been told this is a common occurrence with the Dodge Caliber and there is no recall. Since I do not have any warranty left on my vehicle I will be paying for this on my own if I choose to fix it. Since I drive approximately 100 miles round trip to work 5 days a week and am having health issues that require me to travel to the doctor frequently, I will have to find a way to get the money to fix this issue as it is not safe to drive on the highway with no low beam and I can't adjust my work schedule to be able to only drive in the day light. I was wondering how I was going to afford to have any christmas for my family before this due to having serious health issues and now I have to figure out how to pay for a part that should be recalled on top of that.

29 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 11/12/2013

We've been told we need a fuse box at a cost of $1025. I see many other people are having this same problem. Why isn't Chrysler fixing this? we're on social security, we can't afford this.

30 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

I first lost the low beam on my driver side head light. I replaced the bulb only to have the same problem. Later that day I was stopped at a red light, my car then stalled out. I put it in park and restarted it. The check engine light started to flash there was little to no power. I managed to pull my car off the road put it into park then restart it again. The check engine light stayed on but was not flashing. I got my car home. I count my blessing that my car didn't die while going at highway speeds. Or lose all the lights and cause an crash. I'm worried to drive it now but I have no choice if I want to keep working. This is a very common issue from what I have read. The totally integrated power module needs to be recalled before it kills people. It is unsafe and causes the car the become a death trap for the driver and all the people around it.

31 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

My car drive side light is not working and the brakes keep having problems.

32 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 08/28/2013

My car started making a noise and idling high last year. It started cutting itself off and eventually it wouldn't start. I replaced the alternator and battery. Now less than a year later 2014, the low lights don't work and it is starting to make the same noise and cut itself off. Now I'm being told its the total integrated power module.

33 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/19/2013

It is raining in my vehicle. Rain is pouring in through the sunroof and entering my car through the dome light, passenger and driver side support pillars, and onto the passenger and driver side floor and seats through a faulty drainage system. There is already a service bulletin out for the 2007 model for this issue. I went to Dodge today and they will not fix my car per their service bulletin: 23-043-06 subject: water leak from headliner, because it is out for the 2007 model. They said the extended warranty I bought through Chrysler will not cover the parts or labor and they will not apply the service bulletin to my vehicle because I own a 2008 vehicle. The issue, not taken care of leads to electrical problems, as reported by other owners on various blogs that pertain to this same problem. This company has irresponsibly produced a 2008 model with the same problem as the 2007 model, however, they will not fix the problem. In addition, the particular dealership I went to at 9600 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, FL, wanted me to pay at $105 diagnostic fee in addition to the warranty deductible of $100 if the warranty was to cover the problem that Dodge created in their counterproductive manufacturing methods.

34 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/12/2013

While driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber se in a street between 40mph and 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly shutdown itself. Five second later and after pulling over as close as I could to the curve of the road, the car died. I tried to restart the engine to move it out of the way of the traffic, but the vehicle did not start. Smoke started coming out under the hood, and after further examination, I saw sparks and smoke coming out off the fuses' box. I disconnected the battery and waited for the smoke to clear up. Using a flash light, I found out that one of the circuit card in the totally integrated power module (tipm) shorted and melted part of the plastic cover. The vehicle couldn't be put in neutral, and the break pedal and steering wheel were inoperative. If this incident happened in a high way, I am sure that the incoming traffic could have hit my car with speed over 65mph due to suddenly deceleration and lack of vehicle's response to the driver's commands. My wife, three years old daughter and I could have been involved in a fatal crash.

35 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

Left low beam cut out while driving. I replaced the bulb, still not working. Next day, abs, esp, brake, traction control lights illuminated. I checked all fuses and found nothing. I replaced all fuses just to be safe, still nothing. I called the dealership to ask what the problem could be. I mentioned the low beam and he immediately said that the tipm needs to be replaced. He stated that he had replaced 3 of the same model that month. After being told the cost of the repair, $ 1,200, I was upset. This is a costly repair. There are numerous complaints found on the internet, especially the Dodge forums, with these same issues. Many people believe that this is a safety issue and it really is. I have not had the part replaced, but after reading a few complaints of the right low beam also failing, I will not drive this car at night or during adverse weather conditions. I really feel that we as consumers should not be required to pay for a part or its replacement, when the car was built with faulty equipment. Hopefully, Dodge will admit this and issue a recall for the tipm before some gets hurt or even worse.
