1 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 11/20/2019

When I start my car, it starts just fine and then about 1-2 minutes later the engine check sign will come on followed by a red lighting bold on the dashboard. Once the red lightning bolt comes on either parked or driving in a city street or highway, the car immediately starts making loud noises, shakes uncontrollably and speed reduces, sometimes to the point where it shuts off while I'm still driving on the highway or city street. It sort of starts forcing itself to move while in motion. While the light is still on, if I stop at a red light or stop sign and it's time for me to go or the light is green, when I push the gas paddle the car sort of tries to move with pushes, just as though someone was pushing it while parked and then all of a sudden moves with speed. To resolve it, I have to stop on the side and turn the car off occasionally , wait about 5 minutes and then start it for the car to drive normally once again until the red lightning bolt comes on again. The light comes on whether parked or in motion. At times I'd still be driving the car and when the lightning sign comes on, the car shuts off while still on drive in the middle of traffic. I've taken it to Dodge and other mechanics but nobody is able to fix it. It's really unsafe on the road with the sudden stops, pushes and shutting off.

2 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

I came to visit my son for a spring break in west virginia and I have noticed/heated a very loud noise. I asked my son what is that loud noise? I made an ocular inspection under the car and found very rotten condition sub-frames. I immediately very worried and took the car to the nearest car service repair to take a look at the rotten sub-frames. I noticed the car was very unstable while driving to the shop even at a low speed. The mechanic emmediately concluded that the sub-framed is so rotten and worried it would collapse. The mechanic recommended that the sub/frames be replaced. The mechanics called part supplier to order needed sub-frame parts. The mechanic was told my car has a recall for sub-frames and suggested to bring my car to the nearest Dodge service center in morgantown west virginia. Again it was very frightening driving the car to urse fidge authorized service center. I discovered that my car has two recalls: s60 and x69. I left my car st Dodge service for necessary repair. I told them that the car is very dangerous to drive. Another issue with the car is the engine losing power while my son was driving to west virginia university. I was driving and following my son's and suddenly he drove his car along the side road. I thought he was just resting but found later when arrived st the university that the car slowed down along I-68. This really convened me also because it is life threatening. The third issue I exprienced while driving the car, is the brake. Break bounced back and doesn't stopped instantly. This really concerned me si much also. It's a safety hazard. After experiencing the safety concern of this car which can cause lives. I'm really afraid driving this car. I would like to recommend that Dodge company must need to buy-out the cars that are out there to prevent injuries and preserve lives.

6 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

Since January of 2015, my car has been in the shop almost one dozen times for the same issue. While driving my car, a loud sound goes off in the engine and when the key is taken out of the ignition, the engine is still running. After a few minutes it bogs down and the car completely dies. I've had about six new starters because they have been fried. We've taken my car to multiple mechanics and they cannot figure out what the issue is. With a new starter in the car, it can last two days to a week to a month, but for four months straight it's been a reoccurring problem.

7 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Going down the highway and when down shifting to merge in traffic the car died. Got it to the shoulder of the road & it started but was making a horrible noise. Got it towed home & to garage where they took the motor apart & found it had 2 burnt valves. Took the head to engine shop & found that the head seats are broken and the other 2 are worn & also have to be replaced. Cannot find parts from Dodge & mechanic said he had to order them from japan. Now a job that should have been around $100 is costing us over $500. Very dissappointed that a car with that low milage would have something like this happen. I still owe 2 years on the car & by the looks of the complaints on the Caliber I should have never bought it in the first place.

8 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/09/2011

While operating the 2008 Dodge Caliber 2. 0l engine at approximately 45mph, the car instantly stopped without applying the brakes. Then the car would go from 7mph to 50mph in a rapid acceleration and then back down to 7mph. This was rather dangerous as I was almost rear ended numerous times despite having my emergency signal flashing lights on as well as driving in the far right lane. The car also experienced excessive back firing and one loud explosion sounded as if it occurred in the catalytic converter directly underneath the car. I was lucky enough to find an auto parts store last night and was able to have the tech there use the odbii reader and it indicated the error p0132 which is the oxygen sensor as the failing unit. The failure of the oxygen sensor nearly resulted in an accident as the Dodge Caliber was almost impacted by other cars in traffic as the other cars were not prepared for the Dodge Caliber to rapidly decelerate from 45mph to 7mph. The part was replaced ASAP the next day with bosch part # 15124 and upon testing for 20 minutes the car operated without error. I called Dodge to inquire about a recall or warranty work and they declined both. In regard to public safety, I request that a case be opened to investigate this situation and others like it. The desired outcome is to have Dodge recall the O2 sensors as this type of failure can be catastrophic when traveling on the highway at higher speeds with traffic.
