** from dealer - diagnosis says - primary line b: d1 c/s multiple warning lights came on in dash (like a x-mas tree) and vehicle will not want to drive after that. C/s has to turn off and turn back on to get to move. C/a tipm – total integrated power module – verified customer concern found vehicle with loss of comm dts with tipm no VIN mis match dtc present and more than one module aginst tipm recommend replacement of tipm and retesting at this time. The tipm module controls most if not all of the body functions of the car or truck. Everything from wipers and headlights, starting system and so on. It accepts signals from many diff switches and modules in the car and translates them to the connected systems. $2128. 00 is total cost of repair at Dodge lithia – this should be a recall. There are only about 63,000 miles on her vehicle. ** safety of driver (my mother in law who is [xxx] or niece) put at risk because car just slows down and stops while driving. She pulls over, stops car, then when she starts car again it's okay for a while until it does this again. ** safety of those on the road, if her car dies while she's driving it and she has to pull off, if car won't drive, she is stopped on the road or highway with other cars behind hopefully stopping to let her pull off the road. ** yes it was inspected and reproduced by dealer. Dealer (Dodge lithia in kennewick, wa) gave us this information above primary line b, etc lights all come on dash looking like a christmas tree. . . . ** no warning lights for this specific issues, only that all dash lights come on like a christmas tree, we paid $300 for one mechanic who couldn't diagnose. Now Dodge has said it's a $2000+ fix - and hopefully this will fix the issue??? ** the only symptom is dashboard lights up, car slows down (DE-celerates) and then won't go. Car is turned off, then turned back on and it drives again, then it happens again. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I’ve only had the car since Aug. Im the second owner, it drove just fine. Then I got an oil change. Then the car began to rev down hill and struggled to make it uphill. Then my exhaust became excessively loud. Then the wheel became loose ,and started pulling alot. I was on my way to get an alignment this morning and the whole front end began to buckle not even a minute down the road. I tmade it in back the driveway before the front end collapsed completely.
Car slowed down and electronic throttle control light and traction control light came on was dangerously slow to accelerate and would not maintain speed.

Subframe on the vehicle at 90,000 was found to have severe huge rotted holes in the subframe that is supporting the engine. This can allow the engine to drop out of the vehicle at any given moment and cost to repair is $1200 which is insane.

The problem initially occurred in early November of 2020 when the vehicle would unpredictably stall at a stop sign or traffic light and would not immediately start for a couple minutes. After this short wait of 1 to 3 minutes it was possible to restart the car and move forward normally and the car could be driven without stalling for 2 or 3 miles when it would stall again and the engine would not start again for 2 to 3 minutes. In traffic situations this was unsafe to not be able to move the vehicle to a safe distance from heavy traffic. Finally, the problem started to occur after the vehicle was supposedly repaired and not driven for 2 -3 days and when it an attempt to start the car it would idle for 3-5 seconds and sound like it was choking before dying, and this was happening 2 weeks after it had been "repaired" by the Dodge dealer. This problem has repeatedly occurred over the two years since the original incident and has been to a Dodge dealership for unsuccessful repairs 4 different times; 11/20; 04/22 &05/22 and it is still at the dealership being inoperable. Each time the car functioned for a few miles and then broke down again. The dealer informs us that the parts that would most likely repair the car are no longer made by Dodge and the car cannot be fixed. Interestingly enough this model vehicle has had a variety of recalls starting in 2007 but never for the particular control modules that are no longer available which are the throttle control & power train control modules, which the dealer thinks might possibly be a fix but even that is not a sure thing. The Dodge dealer that worked on the vehicle presumably would have informed me about this situation at least before they had the vehicle in for now the 4th time in 3 years with the same problem with no solution. Up to the time of these breakdowns the vehicle was well maintained and taken care of and still has low mileage of just over 69,000 miles. Is the Dodge corporation at least partially liable?.
Luckily, I was on a city street. The vehicle lost power and slowed significantly, almost stopping completely and began to reboot as if it were just being started. I am complaining because I do not feel it to be safe for consumers on any road. I have a 3 year old son and I would very much like Dodge to fix this problem before my, or anyone else's family, gets whiplash from a rear collision. I'm reaching out to NHTSA because, I lack the tools and knowledge to fix it myself, and don't find it fair that I pay for a mistake that Dodge made in making the car.
The engine cradle has rusted through. I understand that there has been recalls in particular states to repair this issue on this model of car. I have replaced struts and all drive train with all new parts and the slamming is still present. Repair shop identified the engine cradle after removing and replacing all components and finding the rusted out balls joints in the engine cradle as the source of the issue.
Front subframe severely rusted and broken.
Got it from the dealership engine light came on right after I drove off and it's going to be 100 dollars to have them even look at it the parts.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that during a routine check up, it was noticed that the rear sub frame of the vehicle was rusted, inside out. The contact also stated that the engine made a lot of noise. The contact called the shottenkirk Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer (888-344-9954, located at 2301 e washington st, mount pleasant, IA 52641) and was referred to the manufacturer (Chrysler) the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000. Fe.
I purchased this vehicle knowing of rust but when I climbed under it I seen the subframe is almost rusted all the way through this is a major issue I've heard of a few other Caliber owners who's whole drivetrain fell out of engine bay due to this, this could be a dangerous problem if someone is driving at highway speeds Dodge needs to take action and recall this part and put a better component on the vehicles they produce.
Engine cradle rusted out after only 7years.

Was driving and lost all power when the lightening bolt light came on. Had the throttle body replaced and was fine for a few months. Now the light keeps coming on again and I've taken the car to the dealer at least 15 times and they keep relplacing different sensors and wiring. I have spent thousands of dollars for an issue that will not go away and no one can seem to figure out what the real issue is because everytime they fix one thing it seems to bring up other codes.
When in cruise control at between 70-75 mph and going up a long incline (cajon pass) the electrical light comes on and the car quits running, and to date starts again after losing about 5mph after several heartbeats. This has been happening intermittently since the car was new with less than 6000 miles on it.

Motor cradle is rusting out! that's very dangerous and there should be a recall on call Calibers. I can not afford to bay over $1,000 to fix my car. And the maker should use poor quality parts knowing how serious it can get. Recall recall recall !!.
Took our Dodge Caliber 2008 (manufacturer date: 11/2007) to a mechanic for repairs thought to be struts and was told the front cradle was rusted out and need to be replaced to continue any safe driving. This was a 2007 recall but was never included in any titled 2008 cars that were manufactured in 2007. This is a very dangerous issue and seems to be reported more often now at the 10 year mark. This is something that is not a traditional problem on most vehicles and seems to be a manufacturers defect. I would like to see it recalled, because the replacement cost on this is in the thousands and it is a severe safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power and independently decelerated even after the accelerator pedal was depressed. Also, the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to beyer Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (200 ridgedale Ave, morristown, new jersey) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal assembly was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 64,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. While driving approximately 65 mph, the electronic throttle control warning indicator illuminated continuously. In addition, the vehicle decelerated from 65 mph to 5 mph, and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was able to restart, but failed to operate until minutes later. The contact called john elway Chrysler at 970-281-4687 and was advised to bring in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber awd. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and acceleration. The vehicle also hesitated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed and needed replacement. The dealer was not contacted. The contact also stated that the throttle body was replaced five years ago by salt lake valley Dodge in salt lake city, utah. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was being repaired by an independent mechanic. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
Takata recall 4 different times this problem occurred! driving on highway car decelerates on its own with no warning. Could be fatal pulling onto highway! instantly lose rpms car goes into "limp mode" does not accelerate over 20mph or 2,000 rpm lights on dash lightening bolt, traction light, engine light. Had the throttle body replaced 3 times this would be the 4th time as my car still sits unfixed!! Dodge replaced the throttle body with a non factory one thinking that may have been issue. Now that my warranty is up no-one will do anything for me including aubrey alexander located in shamokin dam, PA. No-one stands by the vehicles they sell anymore. Its a shame I'm a single mother of 2 children, and work hard for everything I have, and I don't have money to continue to throw away to fix the same exact problem multiple times. This is so not fair. I will be contacting wnep & action news if this problem is not resolved for me. I lost a job and had to take leave from college due to unreliable transportation. Funny the very first thing I asked for when I walked in the dealership 5 years ago was a reliable vehicle I didn't even care what it looked like. Such a shame that Dodge themselves wouldn't, and couldn't fix the issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that after adding oil to the vehicle, the empty oil warning indicator illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was filled with oil, but the oil indicator falsely illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000. The VIN was not provided.
"takata recall" while driving the 2007 Dodge Caliber, it suddenly jerks and down shifts and rpms seem to sky rocket, the lightning bolt symbol illuminates and it drops speed and will not accelerate over 30 mph max, it tends to do this on hills or after you have to brake slightly for any reason and then accelerate again to maintain speed or to get up a hill. No matter how much you take it easy on the acceleration or how hard you push it, it doesn't help after it goes into this slow mode. The only way to get the vehicle to operate normal again is to pull off the road, put it in park, turn it off and then wait and restart it again, some times it has taken up to 5 times or trying to restart it before it finally restarts. This vehicle carries children in it every day, and it has became very unsafe to operate, having a great chance of being rearended or hit by another vehicle in the side due to loss of power unexpectedly.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the power steering failed almost causing a crash. The contact stated that the engine cradle was severely rusted, as well as the driver's side ball joint. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
It was raining and as it was raining my car started to blink all lights and started slowing down no mechanic can seem to figure out what was going on but as I was driving every warning light started going crazy the tachometer went crazy and so did my speedometer eventually my car started to slow down even though it the accelorator was pushed to the floor. And than eventually it just stopped all together when I tried turning the car back on. The started wouldnt engage and the engine would start till I put unhooked the battery and hooked it back in. This has happened on several occasions 12/25/2016 6/15/2017 and again today 11/3/2017 this has happened several times when my father owned the vehicle as well before I purchased it from him.
Tipm module does not power lights to see while driving and led to power drains. Led to complete loss of power on highway.
This has happened a few different time, but when trying to accelerate from 45mph onto the highway from an on ramp my Dodge Caliber 2010 started to jerk and wouldn't let me go any faster, which made my car actually decelerate. Also there were times when I tried accelerating to pass someone and it just wouldn't go any faster, but there were no jerks.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Caliber. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate more than 5 mph and an unknown warning sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and throttle control failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost power. In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The electronic throttle control warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caliber. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle lunged forward. The srs and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the driver side air bag spiral cable spring needed to be replaced and reset. A tune up was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
