Service Brakes Problems of Dodge Caliber - part 1

I had my 2007 Dodge Caliber rear brakes replaced today, at 83,487 miles. The service professional noted on the receipt that the “rear subframe is rotting out. ” he suggested that I contact Dodge, to find out if there has been a recall regarding this issue. Please advise as to how this problem may be resolved, with no additional, out-of-pocket cost to me, the consumer. Thank you.

The car was in park on a hill, when I turned off the engine, it rolled down the steep hill and the brakes or emergency brake would not work. I crashed through a fence across the street and into a building. The car was totaled.

Very bad design of muffler. It is very dangerous. The muffler has a hole on top. That heat effect the battom trunck, the hood get melted, heat sheild get burned and the road assistant tire get melted as well. I was lucky I was able to smell it. Also all body get very rusted and look hourrible.

The engine stalls when I take off more times than none I'm stuck idling in traffic almost causing accident the frame that hold motor mounts are bad I've replaced motor mounts twice in a less than a year the car heats up after 70 miles an hour I have 5o pull over and let it cool off this happens 3 to 4 times a week with the engine stalling and overheating didn't find out til after I leased the car from atoz auto on gen mcmullen and it's financed through car financial services I believe they knew the car was damaged I got scammed and have to pay 425 dollars a month on a car that can't be fixed I've spent a lot trying to fix the car.

When the vehicle reaches 3,000 rpms the temperature light comes on and the vehicle seems like it wants to go into neutral the engine light comes on the antilock brake system light comes on.

I am a single disabled mom who was involved in a head on collision on 7/21/2019 in austell GA off veterans memorial hwy. Prior to incident I just got out of a major surgery on my stomach that I was healing from. Acccident happened a week later in process of me healing. My stomach wound opened back due to collision along with other internal and external trauma to my body. I was heading home driving on right side of lane. Heard a very loud honk that startled me. I pressed the brakes. Car started maneuvering to opposite side of hwy. I couldn't understand what was going on since I was steering but it became very difficult for me to do that. As the car was going opposite my direction no moving cars was present besides one in left lane. Im managed to steer my vehicle away from left into right. Car in left lane hit my front end which led to a head on collision. The roadways was clear and weather conditions dry. I became very traumatized from even becausey car was very hard to control and maneuver. I feel that it is a car malfunction that caused my car to go opposite side of road. At the time I didn't know but I felt it was a brake malfunction. Due to my own research, I found out the braking system on these cars had a recall. I wasn't aware of this because I just purchased vehicle from a private owner before my stomach surgery. I didn't drive the since I was in er for 2 weeks. Drove it fully for a week and ended up in a wreck. I am suffering a lot mentally and physically from incident just trying to heal along with cooperating with law enforcement which I haven't obtained a police report from yet till this day. As of right now I have a pending claim with my insurance company. No info from other party insurance company as of yet. Nor do I have representation for my personal injuries. This traumatic event has put more stress and strain on my life physically and mentally.

Starting January 2019, I had spent $5k of underbody replacement: bent/rusty axle-f, 2 f-tires; front brakes & shocks, rear rotors, brakes & shocks, front & rear arms. The rear right wheel was locked & I was driving that way with both of my young grandchildren 3 months after I had tires replaced. I kept being told by a friend & my son, �have you had your car fixed yet?� the suspension sucked; I felt every bump & pothole! the noise in the front to right took over a year to fix.

Tl-the contact owns 2008 Dodge Caliber. The contact was driving at 70 mph when the radio and dome light just came on and then the vehicle shut off. The gas pedal had to be pressed extremly hard for the vehicle to stop. Multiple warning lights illuminated. The contact then drove the vehicle home safely. Then the contact called Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram greensboro 27407 (336) 790-9850 (336) 790-9850 where they explained what the contacts next move for payment. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage is unknown. Jw.

My daughter bought a used 2007 Dodge Caliber with 83,493 miles on it in 2016. In 2018 the car became very unstable and found the cross structure in the rear was so corroded and rusted it cracked in half. She, I, and others could have been killed. And I see now 100's of others that has the same problem. What do we do about this? eat $5,000. 00 ? this needs to be taken care of. . She was driving and I was with her at night and raining, on the freeway when it started to shake so bad I thought it was going to fall apart. We creeped it home and friends looked underneath and said omg. . So again,, how do we replace this? and what is being done? there were no notifications on this at all period. I don't care if it was 1 car. This needs to be recalled. . It could be a family with children, a head on crash, who knows. . It's dangerous. . Mad mother. . It happened on or around may 14, 2018 and I don't know exactly what the miles were at that time, gave a estimate. . This is as bad as having a drunk driver coming at you. . Please recall. .

This car has had the driver airbag warning light on in the dash for more than 20,000 miles. I do not know if they are "takata air bags or not. Also, the driver rear taillight has filled with water. I have been the sole owner of this car. Now the dash lights are flickering off & on when lights are turned on. The Caliber now has 96,000 miles on it . Thank you in advance for any answers.

Subframe rusted out ,brakes locking up.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caliber. After the vehicle underwent a routine oil change and tune up, the vehicle made an abnormal noise when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer was notified of the failure more than once and provided no solution. In addition, when driving over un-leveled land, the vehicle continued to make an abnormal noise and the suspension was unstable from the front to the rear. The contact was unable to determine if the dealer would provide a remedy. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.

On may 7th, 2016 I was involved in an accident. My car stalled and no matter what I did, pressing, pumping, or mashing, my brakes would not slow or stop the car. Now, my car has done this in the past usually right as I am coming to a full stop. The first month I owned the car, I casually told the service writer at my local dealership about it and they said not to use cheap gas. I told them that I use gas from shell, not cheap gas. Then it would happen again, I would mention it again, being told about using cheap gas. Which again, I told them I don't use cheap gas in my car. I believe my accident was caused by the issue listed in NHTSA campaign number: 08v528000.

I bought my car in 2009, ran great at first until I hit over 100 thousand miles. I was on my way out of town to see a family member in the hospital. It was 80 degrees out and my car just slowed down on the highway and came to a stop. I thought it overheated so I waited about 30 mins and started it up again. Today I was at the Dodge dealership to have them look at it, to find out why the passenger side front tire was making a noise(like it was going to fall off). They told me it was the controll arm and that I needed to replace it. Apparently I'm not the only one having these issues. Where's the recall Dodge?.

I have had a problem with anti-lock brakes. I could not control my vehicle; my steering wheel was shaking, front wheel felt like it was buckling and I could not control my vehicle; almost got into an accident. I have brought this to the attention of the dealer and he told me thats the way the brakes are; terrible he said. This was done when it snowed. I do not like anti-lock brakes because of that reason; I drove a chevy malibu and when I applied the brake pedal, it didn't do what my car did. Any suggestions would be helpful. I just won't be able to drive in the snow, that sucks!!!!! when I'm driving on the highway I hear a moaning underneath the vehicle, the dealer didn't hear anything; probable didn't take it out for a ride.

Owned the car for almost 4 years. Tie rods have been replaced 3 times. Recently had to replace, struts, ball joints, brakes on the front for the 5th time, back breaks are out and rotors as well had them replaced less than a year ago. Manifold had to be replaced. Barrings on the front and one on the right back. Went through a set a tires in less than 6 months. Has been to Dodge and other mechanics problems still persist.

Brakes on this vehicle are no good, very hard to stop. Ball joints no good steering on this vehicle is not safe either I have noticed all the recalls and complaints.

Found that the engine cradle is rusting out. This cradle supports all steering front suspension and engine/transmission. Have also found that this was a problem for the 2007 models and is still a problem on 2008 models. Although 2007 models are recalled and replaced but not 2008. This is a huge safety factor as stated all steering and suspension are connected to this cradle. If failure to cradle happens all loss of control of vehicle is inevitable.

There are currently 0 recalls on the 2008 Dodge Caliber 2. 0. However, a simple youtube search will bring up common issues with the lower ball joints, which cause extreme tire wear and even severe pulling to the left and right with very little control. The anti-lock breaking system as well as the throttle body are huge issues as well. However, it wasn't a youtube search that brought this to my attention but instead driving one and looking into it. To my surprise there are zero recalls on this vehicle.

Started out when I drive more than 23 miles, trans. Overheat light comes on, loose power. Going up hills, very little power. Rpm wraps between 3 & 4, normal driving, when stopping car jumps ahead if I hit a bump. Breaks squeak after replacing brand new, now engine overheat light, electronic throttle control light & malfunction indication light on. Had transmission filter and fluid replaced. Lasted 2 weeks. Worse now. .

I had an accident on Friday, January 18, 2015. The car in front of me put on breaks, and I was a distance away from the car in front of me when I put on breaks as well. However, when I attempted to break, it would not break normally as a car should. Also, there was no anti-lock break that kicked in. In addition, the airbags did not deploy in this vehicle. My car is totaled. Thankfully, I was able to walk away. There is something wrong with the breaks on this vehicle. I always felt like that. However, the experience that I had with this accident was confirmation for me.

The lights and all dash gauges turn off while driving and all the warning lights on the dash come on. The engine light stays on until the car is turned off. When restarting all lights go away. This happens most often when when I am braking. No pattern for when or what speed. Abs seems to kick in for no reason during this electrical failure. Power has been lost and car has died while driving. I am told this is the tpim module fault that requires replacement for $1,500. 00! there is large and common problem with this tpim and Dodge has wrongly not provided a recall for the Caliber.

Vehicle was involved in frontal collision with run off tire from a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck. Frontal driver side received damage to electrical wiring harness which shut down onboard computer system. Upon impact the vehicle seized operation and shut down air bag deployment. Steering control was lost due to half shaft joint was sheered apart.

The brake does not totally engage in park. Often the vehicle will not start until the gear handle is wiggled and played with to get it all the away engaged.

The car will lose all power when driving, almost at a complete stop. The first 2 times it happened were at night (the second during a complete downpour) and since I lose all power, the hazard lights won't even work so I have to get out of the car to alert other drivers so that they won't hit me!! so dangerous!! the first "fix" was to do a full computer system re-flash ($300). The second "fix" was to replace the transmission control module ($600). The third time this happened was 3 days after the second "fix" as I'd driven not even 100 feet from a parking spot, I turned the volume up on my radio and the car died! the 3rd "fix" will be upwards of $1500!!! Dodge knows about this problem. In fact, it is the faulty placement of the tipm that has caused this!! it was placed in a spot where it constantly receives damage from water and dirt on the road, which causes corrosion and then bam! loss of power!!!! Dodge has not created any recalls for this which is unacceptable! this problem, if it happens on any highways or in major intersections, could kill someone!!! I've done a ton of research and this is happening to too many people with the same exact model year car!!! I've contacted Dodge corporation to request a recall and/or financial assistance in this matter and they won"t do anything! I've owned this car for less than 3 months and I've already had it in the shop 3 times for this problem. When will Dodge realize that they have to do something about this? when someone dies????? I'm going to reach out to as many people as I can who have had/are having the same problem so we can get a lawyer involved!!! someone needs to do something about this problem and that someone is Dodge!!!!!!!.

My car drive side light is not working and the brakes keep having problems.

I was on my way to work, headlights and dash lights started to flicker, all the indicator light on the dash came on. Smoke started coming in the vents into the vehicle went to stop, brakes grabbed for a second then went out completely, even shifting the vehicle to park did nothing. Stopped the vehicle by hitting guard rail called police, within minutes the entire front end was in flames.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that the brake pedal became abnormally stiff, causing extreme difficulty when attempting to brake. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock: control unit/module) for the antilock braking system. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 60,000.

My fiancee and I got into the car and after I started it, it wouldn't shift out of park. Luckily we were close to home and I had internet on my phone so I could look up how to manually override the issue. If there's a manual override, it seems like they knew it would/could happen. My fiancee is disabled, if she had been driving the car (it is her car) and got stuck out in this 100 degree heat wave, she wouldn't have known what to do or have even been able to do it had she known what to do. I'm irritated because my research shows that this is a very common Dodge issue amongst many different models yet they have only issued recalls on certain models. I did call Dodge hq to find out if this model had a recall for this issue and obviously it hasn't. The drone just did their job of getting the information they needed. I can't stress this part enough, if they provide an override, they know there is an issue!.

I bought this vehicle used from ganley Dodge in bedford ohio. We have driven this vehicle aprox 12000 miles and have replaced or serviced the rear brakes six times at two separate dealers. The rear brakes have made a howling noise since the day it left the lot. Chrysler has attempted to repair this problem six times to no avail. Both dealers that have serviced the Caliber say that there is nothing that can be done to fix the problem, they also say it is cosmetic. After dealing with the dealers nonsense I called Chrysler directly, after a week of dealing with them they finally call me back to tell me that an engineer has stated that rear brakes making noise is a normal thing for this car to do. And that there is nothing they will do to fix the problem. I suppose this is what happens when you allow and american car company to be owned by an italian and german companies.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for routine maintenance when the technician detected that the front brake rotors exhibited severe rust and corrosion. The shims, front brakes and rotors were replaced. In addition, the inner tie rods loosened from the steering rack and the front control arm bushing separated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 23,167. Updated 06/05/lj the consumer stated that Chrysler has since repaired the vehicle. Updated 06/06/12.

When driving on highway car looses power break light comes on and off dealer states it's nothing get oil change from dealer stated nothing is wrong.

My sisters 2007 Dodge Caliber only has only 32236 miles on it and the ball joints need replaced already, it cost 800 dollars to replace them, I looked on line and everybody that has a 2007 Caliber is having the same problem there should be a recall on the ball joints, just look on line and u will see how many people are having trouble with the ball joints, how many complaints does it take to have a recall done, thank you for your time, please just e mail me back thank you.

Squealing brakes from rear brakes started after 9,000 miles. Drove it to dealership and they stated it was not a major issue and was common. Several days later the problem continued to occur and took it to a different dealership and the issue was loud squealing when stopping. They inspected the brakes and could not resolve the problem and had no fix for it. My car now has 11,800 miles and the issue still has not changed. People can hear this from several feet away since it is not a quiet sound. It is getting to a point that if they cannot resolve the issue, I will get rid of the car.
