2000 Dodge Caravan. Consumer states airbag light intermittently stays illuminated the consumer also stated when the air bag light illuminated, the horn did not work. The consumer complied with the recall. However, the dealer informed her the clockspring was not the reason the air bag light remained on and there was no problem with the clockspring. The consumer stated she was not given any paperwork on the vehicle stating the clockspring was in working order. When the consumer went to an auto repair shop six months later, it was determined the clockspring was bad.
The horn and cruise control suddenly stopped working and the air bag light came on and wouldn't go off. I went online to see to repair it, and discovered that there had been a recall in 2005 for this problem with doge Caravans. I never received a recall notice and the dealer told me I have to pay for the repairs. Is there anything that you can do?.
There was no incident. The van hasn't been driven in 3 years. Air bag light is on and horn don't work.

In addition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. The right turn signal indicator operated intermittently and the horn did not work. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle has not been repaired. 1) driving vehicle on vacation. 2) air bag light came on and horn failed to operate. 3) clockspring in vehicle needed to be replaced. (old clockspring is available).
Air bag light came on intermittently about three weeks ago. Two days later, the air bag light went on and stayed on. I then noticed that the horn and the cruise control did not work on the steering column, however, the horn operates when using the keyless entry system. I called a Dodge dealership on may 24, 2004 and was told that the problem was most likely a bad clock spring that needed replacement. The work requires removal of the steering wheel. I researched this clock spring problem on the internet and it became apparent that clock spring replacment on certain Jeep and Chrysler models is fairly common. Some models have been recalled because of the clock spring problem.
I own a Dodge Caravan 2000. The airbag light came on and the horn stopped working. I asked the service advisor at koon's Ford (falls church, va 703. 241. 1000, dealer code 35-44341) if this was normal and they said this was the first car they had seen with these problems (clockspring). I researched this on the internet and I found that 5% of all 1996~2000 Caravan models have had the clockspring replaced because of these problems at the cost of the consumer. I believe this is a safety issue, that the 1996-2000 Dodge Caravan should be recalled and the clockspring mechanism should be repaired free of charge. Please let me know if I can provide further information. Thank you for your attention to this important safety problem.
04 v 480 000/air bag clockspring: the air bag light remained on while driving. The dealer was contacted, however they informed the consumer that their vehicle was not covered under that recall.
Without warning clockspring failed, causing horn not to work, and air bag light to illuminate. Cause has yet to be determined. Dealer notified. Ak.
The air bag light came on and the horn and cruise control stopped working on 18 July 2002. Repairs were delayed until I had $224 to pay the dealer to replace the clockspring on 8 August 2002. Technical service bulletin number 0801001, NHTSA number 620059 and engineering analysis ea01-007 describe this problem with this vehicle. Recall number 01v153 describes this problem with another Dodge truck. All mechanics contacted knew immediately why all steering wheel wiring stopped working at the same time. This is a common problem that should result in a recall.
Consumer stated airbag light comes on and goes off at times.
