1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

As documented in the previous report.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

I need to address a serious issue regarding the car I purchased in 2020 from a private vendor. Upon taking the car to crown Dodge dealership in ventura county for repair, I had to pay roughly $700 out of pocket for the service and rented a car from hertz for the days I was without my car. However, upon receiving the car back, it still had unresolved issues with the electrical components and dashboard noise. It is unacceptable that the manager at the dealership did not prioritize my safety or the quality of the car I purchased. Since this car is my sole mode of transportation, I demand a prompt resolution to this matter. I expect immediate assistance in addressing these concerns. Thank you.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2024

Was driving normally going 65 mph on the highway when white smoke was emitting from inside the steering wheel. Between the dashboard and steering wheel. Engine was fine and no warning lights came on. Everything ran great except for the white smoke. I don’t know what it could be. Luckily it didn’t catch on fire.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2021

The car has an intermittent issue where at highway speeds it will go into almost a limp mode. Basically the check engine light comes on and car loses power and won't go over 45 mph. I have to pull over and shut car off. It will restart and operate normally for a random period of time. Very dangerous when on the highway and have to pull over to the side of the road. From the forums I belong to, this is a very common problem. There are even members that have bought a brand new Challenger and had this happen to them after a few months. The code that usually appears from this is misfire on cylinder 1 and even the dealerships don't know what causes it and hard to diagnose since it happens randomly. Love the car but very annoyed that this keeps happening and no one can figure out the fix.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that the trunk opened independently and the passenger window did not close and roll down independently. The manufacture was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in the customer satisfaction repair for the Smart glass window switch, which caused the passenger window to open independently, the window not to close securely, the battery to drain, and the engine not to start. Bob baker Dodge (5555 car country drive, carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)-814-9664) determined that the passenger door switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 105,000.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2019

Headlights and taillights flashing spontaneously while driving day or night dash lights flashing also when this happens. This happens on the highway side street everytime the car is started and driving it just randomly happens. It started July 31,2019 and was diagnosed August 5 2019 took to Dodge dealer and told the tipm needed to be replaced and that this is a common electrical malfunction with Chrysler Dodge fiat with this malfunction my airbag lights are now on , windows do not want to roll down door locks are malfunctioning now as well so I could be trapped inside my vehicle while waiting for Dodge to get the part in.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2019

My passenger door latch went out. There's a recall for 2011 Challengers but not 2010. My 2010 has the same issues as the 2011 recalls. I had to replace my door latch because my window kept jumping up and down while my car was off and killed my battery. My local dealership had no idea how to fix it or what was causing my window to jump up and down. I had to tell them I read online that the latch was the issue. After replacing the latch the problem was fixed but two weeks later I rolled my window down while driving and it will not come back up. Of the 2011 Challengers have the recall why doesn't the 200 have the same recall because they are having the same issues.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

My vehicle while driving and stationary the passenger side window rolls up and down on it's own causing my battery to drain.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2018

A battery light came on my dash, a few minutes later several indicator flashed on (the abs, the brake, and esp/bas flashed on and my vehicle powered off completely while driving on the highway. This is extremeley dangerous and have been reading this is a known problem on Dodge models. How can this be corrected?! if this is a repeat problem, why isn't it yet a recall? the car is just shutting off while driving with no warning.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2017

Tried to start the car and all the dash lights, interior lights and radio worked just fine. Got someone to give me a jump and it started right up so I went and bought a new battery and that worked for about 3 days then the exact same thing happened again. This time I took it straight to the local Dodge dealership and after 2 1/2 days they say it's the total integrated power module, or the tipm.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Takata recall (s43 - 16v-352, July 1, 2016) - "the front passenger airbag inflator housing may rupture while deploying during a crash. The potential for such ruptures may occur in some of the subject airbag inflators after several years of exposure to persistent conditions of high absolute humidity and/or heat aging. In the event of a front passenger airbag inflator rupture, metal fragment(s) could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in additional injury or death to vehicle occupants. " I own a 2010 Dodge Challenger and am still waiting to have this recall fixed. There was a similar recall on this vehicle July 14, 2015 (r37 / 15v-444) -"the driver airbag inflator housing in your vehicle may rupture, due to excessive internal pressure, during normal airbag deployment events. This condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity for extended periods of time. The inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death. " an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. This is my only vehicle that I use to transport my teenager and toddler. I am at risk every day when I am driving my vehicle. Knowing that this serious problem exists and cannot be fixed is extremely unsettling. How many more injuries and deaths is it going to take before action is taken???.

The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

Purchased new in 11/2010. 2 years into ownership, on about 4 occurances, engine would shut off, loose steering control and brakes at the same time while making a slow right hand turn. Problem disappeared and thought it was a fluke of some kind. Now 3 years later it has started doing it again every time I drive it. When the engine dies you can barely steer and have to really pull hard on the steering wheel to keep from going into oncoming traffic. Brakes do not function properly either, you loose all power braking and it is very difficult to stop. I have searched the internet for this issue extensively. What I have found is about a hundred other different individuals on several forum sites describing exactly the same problem. Nobody had an answer to the problem and found just as many different things that people said were wrong ranging from ecm failure to several different modules and loose connections. When it first started it would only occur when slowing down and making a right hand turn. Now it does it at any time no matter whether sitting in a parking lot or driving on the street. You have to turn the key all the way off and then turn it back on to start it and there is always a delay from the time you do that till the time it responds. This is a very dangerous safety issue and a recall should be done as so many people have had the same issue without it ever being clearly understood what was causing the problem.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

I was driving my car in traffc and the car just shut down and it would not crank up ,I had to have it towed, because the gas pedal is not pumping gas into tthe car. And the key gets stuck in the ignition. Chrysler says its the acc pedal sensor.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2015

I was sold this car from a dealership with an open recall for the wireless ignition, it was not brought to my attention and I only found out about it due to me trying to get help for the other recall for the airbag. I have basically been told my life does not matter, I am expected to continue to drive this car until further notice even though it has 2 serious safety recalls that has already caused death and serious injury.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

Driving at night, I turn on the head lights and dash lights, they blink and go really dim! then I turn on the blinker it gets worst. Sitting at a light same thing.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Mystery shutdown. Intermittent electrical problems-shuts off while driving & lose steering & brakes. Terrifying. I¿m afraid it¿s going to kill me & my passengers. It¿s happened 7-9times, 3x w 5 passengers. Ave 1/10k miles. No common factor (slow, fast, rapid downshift, cornering, straight, side streets, country rds, highways, parking lots). Foot may have been on brake during all. Dealership found nothing wrong/no error codes. Cleaned throttle body & they sent away. Next time throttle body verified clean. July 2012 dealership said no flash to fix. I told them how dangerous it is. They gave me a Chrysler care number to file a complaint/get a case started on it. They wanted srt specialists in the loop. Other electrical bugs- not recognizing the fobs. Fob has been locked in the car twice. Signal drops out while driving & error ¿key fob not detected¿ flashes under the speedometer (pic taken at 70mph on 6/8/15). Summer/fall 2014, after ~4 shutdowns at low speeds, started happening at speeds greater than 45. Dangerous! it died going straight through a busy highway intersection at 45 mph at rush hour-nearly rear-ended. Then it shutoff while making a sharp fast turn at a blind corner; this time I almost slammed into the embankment. I knew I had to get it addressed before it kills me. 1st Chrysler claim 23728724 addressed 9/2014 by replacing pcm. Lost communication w pcm codes found. 2015 spring, shut-down starts again. Took to dealership in merritt island, FL ~9/8/15. Please check for codes, the car was shutting down again. Denied. Told to return to dealership that worked it 1st time. 3rd time 9/25/15, 3 senior engineer passengers when it died during rapid downshift turning event. During re-initialization, car abruptly jerked- passengers scared; inches from serious accident -slamming into a work truck & nearly rear-ended. 2nd claim 27895859 in work unknown.

2010 Dodge Challenger. Consumer writes in regards to NHTSA recall #15444. The part was not available.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

Windows are suppose to go down just a bit when door handles are touched to be able to open & close door. Mine dont work all the time. . It has done this when its cold & hot out--so temperature is not affecting door. Have taken to 2 dealerships who have checked them by trying them 1 time and said they worked fine-- I get locked in and out of car and have to forcibly open the door by hitting it with my full weight & shoulder to get out of car while its parked.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

Have a 2010 Dodge Challenger with less than 40,000 miles. Took car to shop at Dodge dealership due to the fact that my check engine light was on (at 38,000 miles). After not diagnosing my car correctly on 3 separate occasions, they finally "determined" that the car needed a new power module, and several engine sensors were faulty and not working.

30 Electrical System problem

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2013

My 2010 Dodge Challenger r/t roughly sat for 2-3 winter months, driven 2-3 times during that period. While starting it up in February the car started then stalled out. I turned the key back to off and then restarted the car. I was getting on to the highway making a right turn. After completing the turn, merging on the highway about 35-40mph the car stalled and I had to pull off to the side of the road. I restarted and continued to drive as normal for the rest of the day. On Friday March 29th 2013, I started the car and it stalled again. I restarted the car and went on my way to work. I was merging from one highway to another doing about 40-45mph on the onramp when the car stalled again. Luckily I was able to pull off to the median while 3 cars almost rear ended me since I had no power to the vehicle. I put it in park, restarted the car and went on my way. That same morning, I was going south bound on the high way in the middle of mourning rush hour traffic into the city. I was going between 65-75mph in heavy traffic in the high speed lane and the car stalled again and lost all power to the vehicle. After coasting for about 100 yards the car somehow restarted, power came back and I continued to work that morning. I have taken the care to the local Dodge dealership as of 3/31 and is being looked at to find the issue.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

My 2010 Challenger rt burst into flames at an idol. The engine wire harness shorted and caught fire. Thankfully I am a firefighter and saved the vehicle. It has less than 20,000 miles on it. I am furious due to the fact that Dodge will not cover it under warranty which it should be. It is a manufactures fault not mine. It was parked and idling when this happened. Thankfully there was no one around that could have been hurt. What if I was in grid lock traffic not a firefighter with out the proper extinguisher. A lot of people could have been hurt and their vehicles caught fire. I love Dodge. Have all my life. I am baffled that they will deny coverage. It sickens me the lack of integrity and care shown. I have tried numerous times with the dealership (meadowland Dodge of carmel NY) and corporate. Neither one could explain why my vehicle will not be covered. Nor did they help to find out why. Just a simple we are not covering you due to our faulty and extremely dangerous ticking fire ball time bomb. Horrible customer service and care. I will be contacting a lawyer. Its a $1200 part I will not be paying for this nor will my insurance and my copay to them. I don't care if I loose money in a lawsuit. It is the simple principle of the matter. This whole experience with Dodge has left a very bitter taste. This is inexcusable. Its like Dodge only cares about making money and not about their loyal customers and the public's safety or concern. I now have to pay for a rental out of my pocket. I have been with out my vehicle for over a month. Nothing has been done to it. Corporate took a month just to come look at it. Simply furious. I purchased this vehicle in full. Trusting the company saved up over 5 years including my combat deployment pay. I have been constantly let down by Dodge and the dealership. I am also considering making this public (news, forums, facebook).

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2012

I purchased a 2010 Dodge Challenger se approximately a year ago. Three days after picking the vehicle up, it was in the shop. The most recent problems involve the engine making a loud clicking noise. This will be the 4th time the car will be taken to the shop.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2012

While driving in stop and go traffic the check engine oil and esp light came on followed by four chimes and then car completely shut off and the steering locked. After several attempts, the car started up again and the codes turned off. Approx 1 month later the same thing occurred. I was making a turn on a roundabout when the same thing occurred during heavy traffic and almost caused an accident. I took the car into the dealership and they said there was nothing captured on the computer. They replaced the key fob and said that this should fix the problem. 4-5 months later, I was in reno, nv. I was driving 20-35 mph and again check engine oil light, esp and four chimes and the car shut off again, the steering locked, and I coasted until I came to a complete stop and placed it in park, started car and oil and codes turned off. 24 hours later when driving home on the freeway in heavy traffic, the same thing occurred!!! I put on my hazard lights and let the car roll, came to a complete stop, placed car in park and after several attempts, the car started and codes turned off. The following day I took the car back to the dealership and again they said they could not find a problem with it, as nothing was recorded in the internal computer. I asked for the car to be kept until the problem was resolved. They were not able to duplicate it in that one week. I asked for a CO pilot computer to be placed in the vehicle in hopes of capturing the problem when it occurred, as the codes turn off after car is started. Dodge sent out a rep to inspect vehicle. After inspection they stated nothing is wrong with the vehicle, they cannot duplicate the problem, and there are no codes stored on the computer. I am now faced with driving an unsafe vehicle that shuts off on me in the city and most dangerously on the freeway with no set pattern and the manufacturer has done nothing to fix it!!.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

The vehicle stalled after braking at around 15 mph. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but unable to shift into gear. As mentioned by many others, this is a severe safety risk and needs to be looked into. My vehicle was towed to dealer and an ecm flash was conducted, but I am afraid of this issue reoccuring like so many others.
