1 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

Battery was replaced because it went dead. Lost power steering. Windows going up and down on their own running down new battery. Found fuse that runs side mirrors and power steering to be good but is showing the fuse box to be grounding out when fuse is removed. I have heard of alot of issues with the windows on this car. Nobody can seem to locate the problem. The car was sitting still and engine not turned on. If I leave windows open, weather damage is done. Dangerous to drive without power steering. Afraid it might catch on fire due to the grounding out. There are no recalls referring to this issue. Why and what can I do about getting this resolved when mechanics can't find the problem?.

2 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/03/2017

My 2010 Dodge Challenger srt8 completely shuts down while driving for no apparent reason. The engine turns off and I lose power steering. It does this repeatedly while driving at all speeds. All electrical components work when this happens but the power steering makes it very hard to turn the vehicle which makes it very dangerous in traffic or on the highway. I have to put the vehicle in park press my ignition start button to turn the car completely to the off position and restart the vehicle. There are no check engine lights that illuminate after this happens so the Dodge dealer does not know what the problem is. The last time this happened my abs and traction control light has illuminated and my esp, traction control and anti lock brake system was disabled and hasn't been enabled. After starting the car the esp, tc and abs light illuminate and stay on. I have taken my vehicle to the Dodge dealer three times and they have said that they are not able to find the problem because there are no trouble codes or a check engine light on. I have read online that this is a very common issue that thousands of owners of Dodge Challengers are experiencing with the same result that the Dodge service departments can not find or duplicate the problem. This random engine shut off has happened around 40 times. It's happened on the highway in motion at speeds of 75 mph on the city street from 30-50 mph and when leaving an intersection after the stop light turns green leaving me stopped in the middle of the intersection in danger of bieng hit by oncoming traffic. It has also happened while turning in a intersection and the vehicle stopping with oncoming traffic heading towards my vehicle. I have nearly been hit numerous times due to this problem. I have proof of my vehicle taken to the dealer to resolve this issue with no luck as to what the dangerous problem is.

Car turned off while driving for the 9th time. Rapid automatic down shift of gears while turning left then to right. Green light, aprox 45 mph, taking left turn. Wrong way. Hit brakes hard, turned wheel to right. Car died after wheel began turning to right/during turn. Lost power steering and power brakes. Very difficult turn, stop, and restart. Vehicle did not store any codes. Dodge/Chrysler says this is "not serious" because there are no error codes saved in the car and they cannot duplicate the failure. 6 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

I was driving my vehicle and was waiting to make a left turn at the intersection. My battery appeared to be losing power and I lost my power steering. I believe the alternator went bad which led to the battery dying while driving, causing me to lose power. This was dangerous as I could have lost power and may have caused an accident. I will be taking it to a mechanic to get the alternator replaced. I see Dodge has some recalls on alternators but not sure if it applies to my vehicle.

Failure Date: 06/07/2015

Car turned off/shut down by itself while driving, resulting in loss of power steering and brakes, for the 7th time. Speed relatively slow around 30 mph, and not turning sharply. Driving in residential area. Lost power steering and power brakes. Very difficult turn, stop, and restart. Vehicle did not store any codes. This is the 1st failure on the newly replaced pcm but 7th total since I bought the car new. . Dodge/Chrysler says this is "not serious" because there are no error codes saved in the car and they cannot duplicate the failure. They say if it was serious, there would be a code. They are not willing to look/ investigate further because there are no codes and it didn't die on their test drive while hooked to their diagnostic equipment. Service manager gene at waldorf Dodge said the srt help center/case manager recommended changing the transmission fluid & perform tune up; both performed 15k miles ago. (ridiculous. This is how women get treated at waldorf Dodge. He also told me the srt Challenger has a timing belt in the front of the engine-not). This is dangerous!!!.

9 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

Car shut down/powered off/turned off on it's own, while driving. Rapid automatic down shift of gears braking from about 65 to turn/while turning left onto side street on road. Car died after steering wheel began turning to left and car was turning. Lost power steering and power brakes. Nearly slammed into embankment and blocked intersection area. Very difficult to control/hard to safe vehicle: hard to turn, stop, and restart. Check engine light did not come on/no odb codes stored. This was specifically scary as people drive through here fast and visibility is very short. After this event and the event in July, I became afraid I could die in this car. I took it to the dealership. They said a few error codes were saved in outer car systems that showed communication with pcm had been lost. They were replacing the pcm. However, replacing the pcm did not correct the problem. It has died 3 times since I started driving it in the spring this year. This is dangerous!!! the dealership refuses to investigate further. Please help.

11 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

I was driving down the road and my instrument panel started going crazy, lights were coming on, the speedometer was jumping up and down, then my radio and air conditioner shut down, then I lost power steering, and about 30 seconds later the car died in traffic on a busy highway. It was towed to the dealership and the next day I was told that first I needed to authorize the purchase for a battery so they could get it to come on, which I did. They called back later and told me my problem was that my ignition switch was stuck in the on position which caused it to fry the ignition switch and my battery. I contacted Dodge and they gave me a case # in which I followed up today and was told they were sorry there is nothing more they can do. They even told me that there have been similar issues and that Dodge was looking int the problem, but for now they couldn't help me. Another thing that really bothered me other than my car flaking out 200 miles after the warranty expired is that I get a letter in the mail the same day from Dodge about extending my warranty.

18 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/23/2011

I've had the same issue as many have described when your Challenger loses all power steering and braking ability while making a right turn at low speeds. Luckily I was pulling into a car wash when this happened and not at my sons elementary school where the deadly potential of killing school kids was there. . . By the way I was on the way to pick up my kid when I made a last minute choice to get a quick wash. So as stated by everyone else here, put the car in park an was able to start right back up afterwards. Not knowing this was an issue that others were having, I opened the hood and started looking for lose cables or popped caps and such and finding nothing. Also prior to turning the car off I jumped into the hidden epic menus and took pictures of the important data such as chime codes, ccn software version just in case there might be an update. I noticed the oil pressure was at 0!!! after everything was back to working I check the same detail and it was at a normal 25psi. So took car into Dodge and as normal, "we couldn't find anything and there are no issues that I know. We also couldn't reproduce it. " really? you couldn't reproduce an issue that I told you appears to be random from all the other people that have had this happen? it's like they just don't give two [xxx] about people's lives? so I'll call corporate tomorrow and see how much they don't care either. By the way, this is the first time for me and I was at 17,250 miles. Car model is the rt automatic. Let's hope we can get them to fix this before people get killed.
