Problem: fuel fumes in the cabin of my 2010 Challenger stationary and in motion (city and highway). The fuel tank is located under the rear seat in Dodge Challengers, chargers and the Chrysler 300. Internet searches regarding fuel fumes in the cabin revealed numerous complaints regarding fuel pump o-ring leaks. There are u-tube videos available for the home mechanic. However, it is unreasonable to expect that an owner perform this repair due to the exposure to gasoline and the possibility of fire or explosion. My Challenger is a limited edition mopar10 with meticulous maintenance at the dealership when it was purchased. It had only 60,958 miles when I took it to the dealership on 01/28/21. They had to replace the fuel pump o-rings at a cost of $396. 00 ($96 in parts and $300 in labor). I have never had this problem in any vehicle that I have owned, new or used, since 1978. The exposure to gasoline fumes is a well known health hazard especially in a closed environment such as a vehicle cabin. For the car with only 60k miles with meticulous maintenance being performed by one dealership and a safety issue with many complaints on the internet, warrants an investigation of Dodge and Chrysler repair records on this issue. A $400 repair is 25% parts and 75% labor. I respectfully submit that a recall has be issued. Please note that my Dodge dealer has been exceptional regarding customer care. However, they did not offer to repair this defect free of cost because no recall exists on this issue. My dealership is jim click Dodge in tucson, arizona. The repair invoice number is ddcs759163. You have my permission to use my personal data on this invoice to create a recall. Thank-you, randy sturgeon, retired federal law enforcement agent.

2014 Dodge Challenger srt with 17505 miles on it from new. Without warning, fuel pump cut out while driving on highway at 65 mph; motor died and the car shut down (including power steering). Luckily, was able to coast to stop on highway shoulder without crash. Had it not been a weekend with light traffic, could have been very bad. Fuel pump diagnosis provided by dealer two-days later after car was towed to shop.

Noticed fluid leaking in front of rear passenger tire. Upon further inspection I found it to be gasoline. Then I looked under the rear seat and found a puddle of gasoline accumulated in the fuel pump area on the right side. The car had been parked so the puddle on the ground and under the seat were very noticeable. This is not safe at all!!!.

We had one of our 2013 Dodge charger ppv fail to crank. After determining that engine was not getting fuel, we removed fuel pumps. We found drivers side fuel pump electrical connector had gotten so hot that it melted top pump cover and created a fuel leak. This condition happened inside fuel tank which seems like it could have caused a fuel tank fire. We replace both fuel pumps with new cover. We have 7 of these vehicles but this is the only incident that we are aware of so far. I do have old part and pictures.
Fuel leak: auxiliary fuel pump leaks when over 14 gallons in tank. Causing fire to road, not vehicle. 62,000mi when leak was identified.

Gasoline leaking around fuel pump under the backseat inside the passenger compartment. Leaking underneath vehicle in front of rear passenger tire. Vehicle has been sitting in driveway overnight. This happens every time I fill the gas tank. The smell/fumes are overwhelming inside the vehicle and there is a pool of gasoline on my driveway. Upon research, this is a very common occurrence with Dodge vehicles with no safety recall. This has been going on for close to a year with no help from dealerships.
Takata airbag, fuel system, key module, electrical system. The car stalled while it was stationary I had it towed to Dodge and they said the fuel pumps we're bad, got fuel pumps changed car still won't start. The lights in the interior won't come on, the doors locked and unlock out of the blue, the key is stuck in the ignition. My VIN shows recalls but there are other recalls for yr mk and model but not listed under my VIN however my vehicle is experiencing the same issues.
One of the two fuel pumps in my 2010 Dodge Challenger had some sort of crack and started leaking. It has right over 60,000 miles on it. We keep this car in the garage attached to are home. We came home one day right after we filled the gas tank up on the car and we smelled gas when we came home that day and we thought it was on elf the other things in the garage so we removed that thing. The next morning we woke up and the smell came in the house so I went online and started looking up gas smells from 2010 Challenger and found a forum of Challenger car owners from 2009-2012 and they all said it was their fuel pump leaking so I went home and hoped the sweat up and cover and share enough the fuel pump was leaking gas and it was dripping all over and running don the tank we removed the car from the garage and it never went away we contacted the dealer and said it was not under warranty and would not help us even though there is a fault in the pumps in the cars.
Fuel leak by rear passenger tire. Leaks when car is parked and off. Pressure from heat outside or engine running. Dodge dealer pushed appt. Out 2 weeks. Took vehicle to own mechanic and it was found to be leaking from secondary fuel pump on the top of it. And fuel leaked in transit and constantly in driveway.
The passenger side fuel pump has developed a small hole and is leaking fuel into the interior of the vehicle. The cabin smells of gasoline after being parked for 5+ minutes. Only occurs at higher than 3/4 tank of gas.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while refueling the contact noticed an odor of gasoline. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. The contact was informed that there was a fracture to the top of the gas tank on the passenger's side rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that the fracture resulted in fuel leakage at the fuel pump. The contact stated that fuel leakage was also evident underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000. Ah.
The alternator recall was replaced and three weeks later on 5/1 the call stalled out quit in the middle of the road and towed the car to the dealer on the next day (Saturday). Dealer could not get to it until Tuesday. Again, I notice fluctuations in the fuel system week of June 7th. Gas gauge did not move for week from driving it a few times. Although the car shows 214 miles to empty. On 6/17, the car had to be towed again showing same systems as before with the fuel pump.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Challenger. While driving various speeds from a completed stop, the vehicle stalled. A message appeared on the instrument panel to come to a complete stop and to select the appropriate gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated on two separate occasions. The contact stated that the failure occurred five times and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer gave the contact a data recorder to record issues in the vehicle. The dealer determined that the failure occurred due to a fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated there was video documentation of the failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 300.

In early October 2014 I started smelling gas fumes inside my vehicle. I took the vehicle to a local repair shop. It was determined that my fuel tank had a factory defect where the fuel pump locking tabs were molded into the tank. The leak was around the seam where attached. This is directly under the rear passenger seat on top of the fuel tank where it would have been impossible to have been hit by anything. The tank was leaking fuel on to the exhaust system at the rear of the vehicle. We were very lucky that there was no fire. I approached Dodge on more than 4 occasions to recover the cost of repairs which were $1,736. 05. I have been refused each time. They are aware that the tank is defective as I have sent documentation and pictures to show them. I have asked for the name of the vender who made the tank and have been refused. This is a defect in manufacturing! the tank is available for inspection. I need help to recover my cost for someone's faulty product. I have owned automobiles for 48 years and have never had to replace a fuel tank until now.
