I have an urgent and safety issue with my 2020 Dodge Challenger hellcat. I was driving on road from work. When I was approaching a red light coming to a complete stop. I pressed the clutch to engage the gear into neutral. Suddenly I heard a loud snapping sound, I lost all pressure to the clutch and almost hitting the vehicle in front of me because I couldn’t get it out of gear. Nearly causing multiple car accident with all the cars infront and behind me on the road. I had to shut off the engine so the vehicle would come to a complete stop. Vehicle was towing into the closest Dodge dealership (sahara cdjr in las vegas). After 2 days in the shop, the service advisor just called me and stated that it’s the clutch pedal push rod that snapped and the entire pedal assembly need to be replaced, which would not be covered. I asked him and he confirmed it’s not a common thing to break at the low miles (14741 miles on the vehicle) but I need to reach out to Dodge customer service to see if it would fall under “defective parts” claim. Please help me open a case and take care of this issue. It is a very serious safety issue if the rod would just snap like that during normal vehicle operation. This could have needed very badly. Thank you!.

In your own words, tell us what happened. Cro I have an urgent and safety issue with my 2020 Dodge Challenger hellcat. I was driving on road from work. I know this has probably been posted. Driving last night with the wife and I smell fuel. Then the gas gauge starts to drop from full to empty in less than 3 minutes. I pull over, the car shuts down. I see fuel on the passenger side , just in front of the tire. Get the car safely towed home. I pop the back seat and remove the access cover for the fuel pump. See picture. This is how I found the fuel line. The green locking tab was not locked. Even though theirs a green paint mark to confirm the fuel line is secure. Obviously not. The locking tab barely engages and is so easy to move to the unlocked position with no effort at all. Stellantis should be embarrassed that a vehicle left their plant in an unsafe condition. Either the locking tab was not engaged fully or in my opinion a terrible design. It should lock with some effort. With the high pressure the fuel system is under there should be a better locking mechanism. This is a poor design. My car is not modified, has only 2,000 miles on it and has never been tracked. To me a design flaw or piss poor installation tech is responsible. The car could have caught on fire and hurt someone if it was in my garage. These lines should use aircraft style fasteners for the fuel lines, especially at the top of the pump. I have seen at least 12 other instances like this online. That means there are many more. There needs to be a recall that changes the fuel pump and a much more reliable fastening and locking system. These car were and are not cheap. I’ve never complained here or anywhere. I really enjoy the car. But now my confidence in the vehicle’s safety is very much in question. When I called Chrysler roadside assistance they said I couldn’t get a two until Monday 11-3. Wth! @dodgecares sounds like you don’t really care. The BMW dealership that I have bought two cars from where out in 30 minutes to help and get me and my car home.

On August 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 pm, my 2014 Dodge Challenger caught fire in the trunk area where the battery is located. I had just parked at my location and was about to get out of the car when I noticed a strong burning smell and smoke coming from the rear. Flames were visible inside the trunk. The fire damaged the trunk interior, wiring, and surrounding components, but the battery still functioned afterward. There were no warning lights or prior issues before the incident. This poses a serious safety hazard and could have caused injury or further damage if it had occurred while driving.

My shifter is messing up again recall u4 I believe and my its a recall on my vehicle ive had this vehicle for 2 years they stated the previous owner already had repaired but im imforming them I am still having the issue my car will literally stop going in the middle of the highway. Ive almost been close to getting in a accident and all everyone can say is it has already been repaired but I want them to understand that it may was repaired but it wasnt done correctly because something is wrong with my shifter/trasmission and electrical system. Which are both two valid recalls that I have. My shifter just blinks out of nowhere and just will stop at any moment. If the person behind me wasnt paying attention I couldve died or been harm seriously due to this keep happening while I am driving on the highway.

At only 68,000 miles, my check engine light came on with code "p0456", which indicates that my evaporative emission system has a leak. These leaks lead to increased emissions and fuel loss. The solution is to replace the emission system integrity monitor (esim). The life expectancy of this part is 150,000 miles. It should not leak at less than half its life expectancy. I contacted the local dealership and they reported that there isn't a recall on this part yet.

There is a fuel leak in the vehicle.
My car has come to a complete halt several times when I pressed the gas trying to get onto the speedway it will just have no power to it like it’s in neutral and I will have to hurry up and get over to the side and turn it back into park and then back into drive and pray that it goes. It doesn’t kick into gear like it should all the time my battery is always a hit or miss. I just spent $1000 on repairs and my power won’t even work. It’s an electric. And pray that it goes. It doesn’t kick into gear like it should alternator all the time my battery is always a hit or miss. I just spent $1000 on repairs and my power. Siri won’t even work. It’s an electrical nobody can get anything to fix it and now we’re out of state and it broke down again. It is so dangerous recently, the belt came off of it while I was driving and it caused liquids to explode and almost caused fire.

The evaporative canister was recalled for Dodge Challenger 2014 in 2021. The car was taken to the Chrysler Dodge dealership and they confirmed the repair. November 2023 the engine light came on. Another mechanic completed a smoke test and determined the evaporative canister to be faulty. Both Chrysler Dodge dealership and Chrysler corporate office refused to remedy the issue, despite this being a recall. A faulty evaporative canister is a safety issue due to emitting additional pollution and adding to the green house effect.
On my way to work on 9/28/23 my 2019 Dodge Challenger hellcat redeye engine just shut off at 65mph. I was in the left lane by the wall on i45 heading northbound. I instantly had a loss of power steering and braking. The engine just shut off. A check engine light came on and the dash said shift I to park to start. I was successfully able to get across 4 lanes of traffic to stop on the apron between o ram and side of freeway. When I shifted to park and to try to restart it would not start. Had to be towed to dealership where upon inspection they said the motor was locked. When broken down a valve just dropped into the cylinder and jammed into the piston and cylinder wall. Pieces also damaged the head and the supercharger and dealer says starter is fried. Mopar is digging in and acting like this isn’t an issue but online there are several class actions and forums about defective valve system in these engines. Had I been a novice driver or my wife with children jn the car she would likely not been able to get off to a safe place and stalled dead in the fast lane of a very busy houston roadway.

On 2/25/23 we started noticing the smell of gasoline around the 2014 Dodge Challenger, so we stated looking around the gas cap and down around the gas tank and noticed a small few drops of gasoline on the ground near the gas tank. But didn't notice exactly where the leak was coming from the tank or around the tank. So keep an eye out over the next week then we started noticing a bigger drip mark. We are not driving the vehicle due to leak from gas tank for fear of explosion and fire. We sent the car to our mechanics to check it out . He said the tank was leaking due to being warped, this was not the first time he had seen this problem in the 2014 Dodge Challengers. He said we will need to replace the tank. We are very concerned with this problem, we enjoy our Dodge and are considering buy a new one when the time comes, but will have to reconsider with this type of problem looming. So we parked the car outside and away from the house for fear of fire danger.
Leaking fuel on rear passenger side. Strong fuel smell inside cabin.

Driving car and the gas pedal quit working and coasted in gas station parking lot. Waited for a family member, after 15 minutes I drove a 1/2 mile to work. Upon parking, I reversed to align better, and the throttle went out again along with horn going off and the windows going up and down. In this time all lights were flashing on dash. It was taken to mechanic, who worked for Dodge for 14 years and he said this is a problem with many chysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. He is replacing the lipm to correct the problem. I believe this has been recalled in many other mopar vehicles and is unacceptable as this is my teenage's car. I pos to the ceo of Dodge to put his child behind the wheel of this car. What if this tipm burns/melts the board again? no warning, my child was on way to work on a busy road, speed limit 55mph and it a gas station was not to her right, who knows what the outcome could have been the car would not go and there was no shoulder either. You can do the speculation. I have not received invoice yet but the price for tow and fix is $751. 00.
Vehicle cought on fire while operational, in second the vehicle became engulfed in flames with no warnings.
I have been trying to resolve recall ub4 for the evaporative emissions canister since 6/4/2020. Since that time I've been "put on an waiting list" for the part needed to resolve the recall. Initially I was told that it would be 3 or 4 months wait for my place in on the list. I began following up with the dealership on 9/22/2020 at which time I was told to call back in 2 weeks and they would be able to order the part and schedule the repair. On 10/2/2020 I called again and was told the same thing. On 10/3/2020 I called the number on the reminder card that I received on 102/2020 and was told the parts were in short supply and "it's a mess". I agree, I don't think Chrysler is taking this recall seriously because it shouldn't take 4 months, and counting, to resolve an issue. The dealership that I've been communicating with is chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep, at 3175 e. Sahara Ave, las vegas, nv 89104. Phone 702-457-1061.
I was driving my 2017 Challenger rt with only 22k miles down a city street. And while approaching a stop sign and my front passenger wheel completely broke off. I was not able to stop or steering enough to control the direction of travel. Causing me to hit a gate and a street at a college. Sadly I'm suffering from a broke neck, femur, leg, ankle, fractured lungs and ribs, and a ruptured vessel in my heart. My wheels were never removed from car since I purchased it on 5/13/2020.

I have experienced numerous breathing difficulties, I suspect have been caused by the air blowing out the vehicles ventilation system. . . I regularly develop chest pain in my breast area and migraine headaches after being in the vehicle for an extended period. I have reason to believe that the vehicle had been tampered with prior to my purchase . I've recently discovered false information related to the ownership of the car, through a carfax search.
Car shut off while driving on the highway at 70 mph. Was able to restart and then it shut off again and wouldn't start, the shop says it is the fuel power control module, $1,500 part requiring complete rewiring for a total repair cost of $2,200 and still waiting for repair completion after almost 2 weeks. I am not sure that this will repair the problem. . .
Both my 2015 Challengers have the same dash lights on traction control, abs, and brake light. Upon starting to accelerate from a stoplight the car suddenly accelerated on its own & the brakes would not work. Their was a vehicle stopped at the next intersection (4 way stop). To avoid hitting them I went to the right of the stop sign. There was just enough room in between the stop sign & a telephone pole. I had shifted the car to neutral, & finally got it stopped in front of a house. I was very shaken up by this & called my husband. He said he would be there ASAP. A man came out of the house & asked me was I ok. I told him what happened & let him know my husband was on the way. When my husband got there, he got me calmed down & said he was going to try to drive it cautiously to the dealer. I followed him in his car (Toyota) & we made it to the dealer without any other incident. We called Chrysler corporation & they opened up a case file (29522357) trying to get information from Chrysler, my husband left multiple messages for them to get the status on this. He finally got them & they said they couldn't duplicate the problem & they were closing the case. I was charged 130. 00 from the dealer for diagnostic test. Now I have a car that I am afraid to drive & can't conscientiously sell it to someone else.
I was driving my car in traffc and the car just shut down and it would not crank up ,I had to have it towed, because the gas pedal is not pumping gas into tthe car. And the key gets stuck in the ignition. Chrysler says its the acc pedal sensor.
I purchased a new 2008 Dodge Challenger srt-8 in 2008 and every since have had problems. Chrysler would fix every time something would have problems. After the first motor went out (due to engineering of the 6. 1l hemi) Chrysler agreed to repair. The 2nd motor that went out in less the 6k miles also started an electric fire with my family inside, Chrysler replaced motor. The 3rd motor was replaced once more at about 9k miles by an independent shop and the car on cruise control up speeds. Since the car was purchased, the smell of fuel is still apparent when full. Called chris at 855-778-8326 (Chrysler corp) and asked for a complete history of repairs and was not offered much help. He encouraged me to write NHTSA.
