1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 06/24/2020

With less than 30,000 miles we noticed a strong gasoline odor inside and around the vehicle. Suspecting that the fuel odor was related to the ub4 recall for the evaporative emissions canister we took to vehicle to a local dealer ship. The problem was found to be a cracked plastic fitting that connects the fuel fill tube with the fuel tank. The remedy being replacement of the fuel tank at a cost of over $2600. The vehicle has never been abused or in an accident so, it is my opinion that the fuel tank and fill tube are a poor design and could fail causing extreme harm. The dealership did take photos of the cracked part but I do not have copies of them. The repairs were completed at chapman Chrysler Jeep, located at 930 auto show drive, henderson nv 89014. Phone 702-558-3000.

Gas tank leaking at seam where the two halves of the gas tank are put together. The gas tank is made out of plastic which is by the exhaust system which is very hot and could cause fire or explosion . Man at dealership parts department said this was common ,but not enough complaints have been filed to do a recall. Car can be stationary or in motion and you can smell gas inside the car. When car is parked you can also smell gas in the trunk and outside the car.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 06/15/2017

Exiting the freeway via off ramp the car suddenly stalled and just as quick as it stall it started back up. The whole time it was in gear and I never touched anything. About a mile prior on the freeway I smelt gas but only for a minute and never again. I was approximately 8 miles from home and didn't have anymore problems or the gas smell. I check my menu for any problems but the system said ok but after I got home and turned the car off and then back on the system said warning contact dealer. This is dangerous to have a call stall suddenly. I did see on the web that NHTSA has noted there is problems with srt8 (v8) and a warranty issue with the gas tank needing to be replace. Does our car fall under this?.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

Exterior lights flash constantly when car is parked and turned off. Sometimes the lights don't flash, they simply will not turn off at all after car is turned off. Has had a relay replaced 3 times since the car was purchased at the end of 2014, the issue described has killed the battery numerous times. Nowadays the interior lights flash constantly as well when the car is turned on. No recall has been issues on this VIN but this 4 year old car with 65000 miles has been worked on 6 times in just the last two years due to countless issues that include the worst and most persistent issue, being the faulty lighting. Other issues include the oxygen sensor malfunctioning resulting in the engine rattling when slowing down or accelerating and high fuel consumption ( a full gas tank would be empty within three days driving locally in a five mile radius) as well as traction control failing resulting in near accidents.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

My tank has to be leaking because I removed my back seat and found gas. Recently took it to the dealership because of a chl and the gas smell and they claim they could not find the location of the gas smell. They told me I may need to replace the canister in which they would gladly do for $$$$. I did some research online and the gas was under my seat. I'm afraid for my wife and son .

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 04/30/2015

It was observed that a gas smell was noticed while in my car when parked in the garage and threw out my vehicle cabin. After a day or so I called the Dodge dealership and requested to bring it in due to a strong gas vapor smell coming from my vehicle. They acted very unconcerned and said no appointment was available until the following week. Same day I took my care to a service shop and asked them to run a diagnostics check to locate the smell. After a hour the service repair man located and found that my right rear fuel module was leaking gas underneath my right passenger rear back seat. Immediately I called back to the Dodge dealership and explained the health hazard of driving around in a car bomb. At that point I was requested to bring my vehicle into the dealership. Come to find out that the problem was caused by the fuel tank itself. The new plastic gas tanks they use sometimes shift from over ex-poser to the weather elements and broke the seal of the o - ring to the fuel module that is connected to my gas tank. The service manager explained that it was a common issue with the new gas tanks and they will have to replace my gas tank and fuel module to fix the defect.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 04/29/2013

Since the vehicle was purchased on February 2013, we noticed that the fuel indicator would never show a full tank of gas. It would stop at 3/4. However, when you turn off the engine, especially around a 1/2 of a tank, the gauge would register 1/4 tank. On 4/29/2013, my spouse noticed the check engine light and we decided to take the car to the dealer. The onboard computer showed 68 miles to empty and we needed to travel 30 miles. As soon as we entered the freeway, the car stalled and would not start. It had to be towed to the dealer. Dealer replaced the sending or (ascending) unit. The vehicle only had 1275 miles on the odometer. On 1 may 2013 we picked up the vehicle and my wife drove it home, I followed in a chase vehicle. That night she complained of headaches(not normal for my spouse). The next morning, 2 may 2013, I open the door of the vehicle to place safety seats and was overcome by the noxious fuel fumes. My wife decided to drive the vehicle to work and could not make it there due to the fumes getting worse. She pulled over and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. Their fix was to use odor neutralizer which now renders the vehicle unserviceable. One cannot stand the smell. My spouse fears they care may combust at the first sign of an open flame and is afraid to drive the vehicle. Dealer will not entertain any ideas of checking o-ring seals.
