My 2006 Dodge Charger srt8 is just under 2 years old, with 10,500 miles. My right rear brake rotor has a constant squealing when the vehicle is in motion. This noise has increased in both frequency as well as volume.
Upon braking, I experience vibrations in the steering. Took to a dealer who examined my wheels and determination is warped front rotors. I have 16, 000 miles on my car and warped rotors? service manager advised to replace rotors at consumer expense. I feel as many other Dodge Charger owners with the same problem, it is a manufacturer defect.
The brakes squeling real bad rotors warp at 11,000 miles been havin problem since I bought it.
Brake problems.
The front rotors on the 5. 7 2006 Charger need turning. They have been squeaking for some time, and I was told the brakes were fine. Now, I am being told they need turning at my expense. The car will be a year old tomorrow.
Front driver's side brake rotor is grooved. Breaks squeal. Car only has 12000 miles. Yet brakes that are to last 50-10000 miles are already in danger of premature failure. Rotors needed to be replaced by manufacturer. A TSB identified it as a defect and not a recall.
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger r/t with 19,000 miles. At approx. 15,000 miles, I noticed the car shaking slightly when braking. During a recent trip through the mountains, front wheels shook violently with slight braking when descending down a mountain. Took the car to the dealer who said the rotors needed resurfacing. This vehicle is not driven hard and rotors should last longer than 15,000 miles. Dodge would not cover any cost of resurfacing the rotors. Mechanic at the dealer said Dodge owners were having a lot of problems with the brakes on 2006 Chargers.
Brake rotors warped. . . . Have been since about 20,000 miles. Brakes have been squealing longer than that. I understand that the upgraded Chargers are being swapped out for slotted rotors because this is a known issue. I can't keep replacing parts on this car due to manufacturer defects.
While braking the vehicle skids and pulls to left or right at slow speeds. Informed dealer and Dodge of issues. Has not corrected issues as of yet. 1st the dealer turned the rotors left the old pads then with in 3k miles the y replaced the rotors and left the old pads and with in the same 3k miles they machined the rotors while onto he car and then replaced the rotors with " police issue" brakes for my vehicle. I feel all of this and my vehicle only has 9500 miles on it. I feel the manufactures and should give me free brake service for the life the car apparently the vehicle has manufacturer brake issues.
I own a 2006 Charger r/t. Purchased on 12/26/2007. I currently have 3200 miles on the car and for the last 500 miles the front driver's side rotors were squealing. Seeing that there were so many owners with the same issue I will be calling the dealer in the morning to schedule this to be resolved.
Brake rotors are glazed and brakes squealed after about 11,000 miles, pad thickness 65% remaining. Braking distances are dramtically increased as a result of the glazed rotors.
Rotors are grooving.
Front brakes whistling when brakes are applied.
Warped front rotors after buying car and personally placing less than 2,000 miles on it.
Me myself had problems out of my front rotors I had a lot of vibration in my steering wheel when I went to brake and had to switch to high performance drilled slotted rotors.
Intermittent brake squeal on 2006 Dodge Charger vehicles.
My brakes have been squeaking severely since the purchase of my vehicle. I brought my car in to the service department where I bought it at, which is also my place of employment and they said it was normal and not to worry. This was almost 2000 miles ago and the car still continues to squeak. . Read more...
2006 Dodge Charger daytona top banana developed grooves in brake rotors. At 5600 miles there is severe rotor grooving that resulted in severe brake fade that resulted in the car striking a curb since the brakes failed.
Front brakes are requiring a resurface for the second time in 11,000 miles. Dealership will only cover brakes for 12,000 miles. This seems like a problem that should not happen to a performance vehicle. I have had no issues like this on any other vehicle.
I purchased a new Dodge Charger r/t + rt on 7/29/06 from westoaks Dodge in thousand oaks, CA. Starting at around 1500 miles, I noticed a squealing sound from what sounds like the front passenger wheel. This sound seems to happen on a consistent basis when braking lightly. I waited to see if the problem would go away. The problem persisted and so I brought it into westoaks Dodge service department on 10/16/06. After westoaks inspected, they returned the vehicle to me in the same state and told me that the brake noise is normal and they would not service the car unless daimler Chrysler approved. . Brake squealing!!! I have a 2006 Dodge Charger daytona r/t and I only have about 9k miles on it. But about a month ago I notice a squealing on my brakes. Everytime I coming out of my drive way, and after a stop at the light, etc. . . . Seems to happen also, about a 40 mph. So, I took to the dealer because is still under warranty. And they said that is caused by a panic braking. I don't drive this car the much and I don't brake hard. But you would it think that a 40k + car would have a better brake system on it, because doesn't matter how you brake is a problem. I really don't feel safe braking. Here's what it says on the receipt :cause: rotors out of specs. Road tested and inspected. Trued surface of all 4 rotors, cleaned.
Front brake squealing @ less than 10k miles. Returned to dealer, rotors found to be warped and grooved. Dealer turned rotors.
Brake rotors on my Charger daytone keep warping others are having the same problem but Dodge is doing nothing about it started happening at 7k still ongoing 6th trip to dealer.
Front rotor warping and front rotor premature deterioration. I took my 2006 Dodge Charger daytona in at 600 miles with premature rotor gouging. I was told by keene Dodge in jarrestsville MD that this was normal. I believed and told them no way it was a normal problem with a vehicle. They took the car back to their service area. After a short visit to the service area I was told by the service writer that nothing was wrong with it. I was not happy, but what is one to do in a situation where one is blown off. I drove the car the way it was and kind of ignored the problem. Well it got worse as the miles went by until while braking the car had shaking at highway braking along with pulsating. I took the car to cook motorcars of aberdeen MD and at first was told this was a normal situation. I again objected. I made an appointment. My car now had 7900 miles on it. I dropped the car off while I was at work and called around 1pm and was told that the rotors were indeed warped. The service writer told me that they tried to turn the rotors and when they did there was not enough metal left for safe braking. They replaced the rotors, with the same kind that was on the vehicle when I purchased it. I belong to the Dodge Charger forums and there are 100's of Charger owners having the same problems and are being told this is normal. Here is a link to my thread on the forums and you can read all the complaints that I have gotten. This needs to be addressed because there are Dodge Charger owners who are paying for this apparent defect on our cars. . Read more...

I was driving my car and the brakes have had a slight noise to them. Not so much a squeak. Now today while driving I pushed my brakes pedal down and it pushed back. I asked a mechanic at my job. I work for fedex and he told me that the rotors needed to be turned.
