The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stopped operating without warning. All of the warning indicators illuminated in the vehicle when the failure occurred, and the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was towed to landers mclarty Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (533 university dr NW, huntsville, al 35806 (256) 830-6450) where it was diagnosed that the battery was dead due to alternator failure. There was an open recall for the alternator, NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system); however, the dealer confirmed that the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 35,000.

First,I received warning for "battery saver mode" on dashboard. Later in the day, I took car to dealership for a service visit and the car shut down right there. All lights went crazy and car put itself in neutral very violently. I am afraid of this car and what it may do if this were to happen at a higher speed. Once the car took over control, I could not shut it off, put it in gear, or anything else for that matter. Dealer says its simply a bad battery and I am very leery of the dealer's diagnosis at this point.
I was traveling around 30 mph and as I was braking to stop for a traffic light the car turned off by itself. I was able to re-start after a minute. I almost rear ended the car in front of me as my brakes were disabled when the car shut off abruptly.
