general problems of the 2014 Dodge Charger

The contact owned a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and then lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated while driving the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. My brakes went out on me and couldn't stop. My engine has been overheating and making a weird ticking noise. The front suspension is loose and has caused me to hydroplane on the highway and slide.

Oil filter housing failed at 70,000 miles. The issue caused leaking oil to contaminate the environment and burn on the auto components that caused smoke and unsafe driving conditions. The oil filter housing failed and due to oil loss the check engine light came on. My repair mechanic said that this is a common issue and there is a limited stock of replacement parts due to the issue. Online research shows that Dodge stopped manufacturing of this part and only after market replacements are available.

The contact then took the vehicle to another dealer for an inspection and a diagnostic test determined that the fuel pump and the connector pump had melted; they also informed her that fuel had been leaking from the vehicle. The contact was informed that the vehicle nearly caught on fire due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 193,000.

Transmission broke down. Am unable to put vehicle in reverse and it stays stuck in low gear. Slipping of rear tires. Dodge dealer as transmission failure and needs to replace the entire transmission, oil cooler and oil lines. There were no warning signs that the transmission was going out. No lights, lamps or any symptoms showed up prior.

Unknown just want to take in for recalls.

While driving on expressway vehicle automatically went into neutral. Would not go back into drive mode. Had to veer to the side of road. Very dangerous almost caused accidents. When vehicle stopped still couldn't put vehicle into drive. Turned car off vehicle would not turn back on.

Car still rolling after complicated efforts to exit in and out of vehicle as the car is still in gear it keeps on rolling. It takes tremendous effort and concentration of the possibility of danger whenever exiting in and out of my car. This is pretty scary.

All cars to date have same probems lifters will go out, intake manfold will suck oil into the air chamber, seals replacement will not fix. Car has huge elec probem, car put togather in sections so there no sold ground, so all grounding points will fail. With 60k miles I had rebuild drive train trasfer case two axles failed, car suffers from computer rebooting wich for just sec everything reset, awd system has programing probems, the motor will fail after warenty, these cars was ment to break down, they ment to have probems as no dealership talks to headcords as they lose so much money to fix these probems, I been lie to by all Dodge delear ships, pcm must be updated as in recall only part pcm was updated all the service builtions on it they never fix, in fack they told me to leave, so now I cant even get pcm updated, to note two delear ships I went to none in the shop was wareing mask none of them I must ask why they put my life at risk.

When I driving (I motion) I feel like the car wants to turn it off by it self, the panel looks like if I turn it on and off, and it wont start when I speed up.

The rear fuse box burnt out in the trunk of the car; almost causing a car fire and the fuse box is none operational but located next to the transmission, control panel,seats and airbags fuses and many other operational safety features of the car. The car has had all recalls, services, maintained meticulously with one owner no accidents.

Today my car turned off all of a sudden out of no where. I have stated to the dealer for years that it is not normal for a car to say battery saver mode and lights, radio, dash and all electrical devices in a vehicle to turn of or stutter of and on. They said it is normal and that it is my battery. If a car turns on the alternator is supposed to take all the load off of the battery running in the engine nothing else. My car has stuttered multiple time off and in while driving and even almost turned off. This is not safe for driving around, because car could turn off while driving on a highway and I lose all control off the vehicle steering, brakes and accelerating. When I the vehicle turned off today I was stopped at a red light and the car started to stutter and then it just turned off when the green light turned on. I was unable to take a picture today and I was in traffic and it is illegal to drive and use a phone. I have multiple picture from the past but was only able to upload one.

I took my vehicle into my nearest Dodge dealership, which is about an hour away from where I live. I had scheduled an appt. With them over the phone in which I had to wait because they didnt have the "parts"in for the recall. This specific recall was to repair or replace the pcm, or update it if it could be. I waited for weeks, and never heard anything back from the dealer, finally I was able to secure an appointment with them. They kept my car all day and I had to hound them to be able to come get my car as they never contacted me to let me know if it was done so I could pick up my car before they closed. Finally I called and 10 min before they closed I was told my car was completed. When I went to pick up my car it was still in the back lot and parked very tightly between other cars. My 2014 Dodge Charger's heat was all the way up and this was during the summer, and it still had the throw away car mats covered in dirt inside. After carefully backing the car out of their back lot I went upon my way. I had to reset my clock as well. About 4 months go by and my check engine light came on and my vehicle was reading misfire on cylinder 1, the light remains on, the vehicle shudders at idle and smells of fuel on start. Covid happened and I was not able to get my vehicle in to the manufacturer but did get in to my local mechanic and they could not find the problem but saw what the car was doing and suggested to take it to the manufactuer again, please note it is 48 miles from my home. I was unable to address this issue until now and it occured to me that the pcm can cause these problems and due to the lack of confidence and lack of courtesy I believe that they did nothing in regards to the recall.

I bought a used 2014 Dodge Charger less than a month ago . I haven't made my first payment and have to replace the oil filter housing and no a problem with my battery saver indicator shutting of functions of the car while driving . Dealer has recognized the issue by unwilling to pay for all cost and parts of repair .

The dealer Dodge country 1902 e central texas expy, killeen, TX 76541 (254) 200-3900 diagnosed the issue as with the steering module they recommended replacing that partbut repairs have been done yet. The manufacturer said there was no recall for this issue. The failure mileage was 80,000. Tf.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to landmark Dodge located at 6850 mt. Zion blvd, morrow, GA. Who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After retrieving the vehicle the failure continued to occur. The contact indicated that while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle suddenly shut off causing the driver to lose control and crash into a utility pole. During the crash the vehicle was destroyed and the driver sustained chest and facial injuries. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed to a undisclosed location. The cause of the failure was not determined. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 30,000. Jft.

Car experienced rapid alternator failure. Requested Dodge repair as part of recall, however they refused stating recall was limited to 160amp alternator and my Charger had 180amp. After some research in Chrysler forums, both the 160amp and 180 amp alternators are experiencing the same type of failure. Both should be on the recall list!.

Lifters went bad with only 37000mi on it causing the camshaft be get worn.

The vehicle has been having a pop up message which was stated battery save mode. I then replaced the battery for the key thinking it would help. I then started the vehicle battery and was no problems . Today when I stared my car a white screen popped up where I see the messages in the dash board of speedometer. There after when I started my car it sound like was having a hard time turning. Later that day while driving 25 mph my cst dcteem completely shut off. I tried jumping it, testing battery and it sounds as if alternator has went out. This is very unfortunate when this is a newer car and warranty just expired. I was driving.

I have been working with fca since 8/31/16, so for 28 days now, that I have been without power steering. I filed my first complaint on, or around 9/12/16. I experienced the exact same symptoms as stated in NHTSA pe14022 while driving down the highway at apporximately 65mph. Every warning light went off flashing, service transmission message, service power steering , and tach, and speedo would drop to zero , and I would lose engine power, and power steering. In dealing with fca llc, they refuse to replace the electric hydraulic power steering pump that was fried from this incident occuring. Fca is saying that it was the "2 year old mopar battery" that caused the incident, and refuse to replace the ehps pump that worked perfectly fine before this occured. I replaced the alternator per NHTSA recall no. 14v-634 a great deal of time prior to this incident occuring. Fca is trying to circumvent having to replace the pump by changing the origin of the means to the battery, instead of the alternator. I have been extremely frustrated with how fca refuses to acknowledge all of the proof given to them. I am not alone in this, there had been many complaints filed with similar results as mine in dealing with fca. It's time for NHTSA to do something to remedy this issue with fca. Fca offered to replace the $1400 ehps pump if I pay a $500 CO-pay, I refuse to accept this offer based on the principle of the matter. The true origin of all of the issue's I'm currently having, is from the original alternator that was in the car for a year and a half initially, and during that time it was improperly charging the battery that possibly caused the battery to ultimately fail on 8/31/16. Sons car was parked in garage after returning from picking up lunch in columbus OH. Minutes later while in house he notice fire, explosion type sound, saw flames coming out of garage, called 911 . . . Burned garage- completely destroyed, car totaled, flames spread to side of house. Fire officials report said cause of fire was from engine and an electrical mechanical issue in engine. He has photos and the official report. He contacted the Dodge dealer that very afternoon. The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. While driving 40 mph, the engine rpms increased to 5,000 without warning and caused the speed to increase to 90 mph. The contact powered the vehicle off and back on and the throttle warning indicator illuminated. The rpms increased to 7,000 while the vehicle was parked. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and the accelerator pedal failed to respond. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle and the push button failed to power the vehicle off until after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed that the accelerator pedal failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500. The VIN was unavailable.

The dealer was contacted and was unable to provide a time frame for when the parts would become available. The contact believed that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the delay. In addition, the contact stated that the check engine, esc, and anti-lock brake warning lights illuminated as there was a sudden increase of engine rpms. The vehicle was not repaired. I have a 2014 Dodge Charger sxt with the 3. 6 v6 engine and the new 8 speed transmission. The transmission is not shifting properly; when it is cold, the engine will rev-up between shifts, and it has severe downshifts. When the temperature,(ambient and vehicle), is normal the up-shift problem goes away but the downshifting problem still remains,(at times)! I have taken it back for repairs 3 times ,(for this problem), and nothing has helped. This is a very nice vehicle and I want to be able to keep it and enjoy it , but this problem is sure ruining an otherwise nice vehicle. I have been told that this transmission has been very troublesome since it`s introduction and I am wondering if a recall is pending?? if not, it should be!!!!!!! the last time I let the vehicle with my dealer , they said that they "couldn't duplicate the problem", even though the technician that always works on my vehicles, admits that he heard and felt the problems that I describe. I made a complaint to Chrysler and they basically told me to get lost ! they said that the service manager, (at the dealership), said that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle, that is the way this transmission is supposed to operate !!!!!!! unbelievable !!!!!.
