Five problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 2000 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Braking system on this vehicle is sub standard for stoping, on a emergency stop the brake pedal goes to the floor, but will not stop as it should. Was in an accident the other day, that could have been prevented it the brakes worked as they should, I have a (2002) darango and the braking sysem is like night a day virs the dakoda.
Brakes are not working properly. Dealer told him to come in 2 weeks for a brake checkup. By the time the consumer went in his brakes were shot. ( nothing left on the front brakes).
Consumer states front end shakes when brakes are applied almost causing a loss of control, dealer states this is not covered under warranty even though vehicle only has 19500 miles on it.
While driving around a slight curve the driver ran off the road with the two right wheels of the truck, when he got back on the road and slammed on the brakes and the left front wheel locked up amd steered him into a tree totaling the vehicle. Nlm.
Consumer has had numerous problems with brakes, consumer is approaching the end of the 36,000 mile warranty and is still experiencing problems with brakes, consumer states that brakes need to be replaced every 3 to 5,000 miles, and dealer is starting to deny claim for repairs.
