Failure Date: 01/02/2020

This 2001 Dodge Dakota comes up with code p0601 it says it is a memory check sum error. It comes on intermittent in cold weather. If you clear the code it might come right back or it might stay off it is annoying sometimes it messes with the abs making the front right brake hang up.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

The body control module has failed, which controls all the interior lights and the headlights. As of a month ago there were over 150 people waiting on this part in Chrysler's system. Chrysler has now informed me this part is no longer available and will not be made again, which renders my truck only safe to drive in the daytime. They say to go to the aftermarket, but there are no aftermarket companies making this computer module. My fca case number was 30705404.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

I was driving and the lights started flashing and then they went all the way out and the dome light and keyless entry isn't working. It finally wouldn't start and so we bought a new battery, and the lights came on and then the next day the lights were off again. The battery that was in the truck was too small and we told the dealer and they said that the lights weren't working because we put a bigger battery in it, we put the right size battery. The other day we came home and the cargo lights were on by themself. I am afaraid to drive it for it catching on fire. We only had the truck 2 and half months. We paid $6300 for it.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2014

Knock on my door from the fire department, said my truck burned up. It was not driven that day. Any electrical recalls for this vehicle?.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

This vehicle, 2002 Dodge Dakota, was driven during the day for some months. In October, 2013 I stayed out late and as I turn the head lights on, a few seconds after all the lights started to blink non stop, even all the dashboard lights. Fortunately I was not far from home, I had to turn all the lights off to get home. An additional alarm system, evs 11 mopar electronic vehicle security systems, was installed when the vehicle was purchased. At first I thought it was the alarm system malfunctioned, I had the alarm system removed but the problem was not solved. I eventually took the vehicle to the Dodge dealer and was told that the bcm needed to be replaced, after a diagnostic test was done. To replace this part is very expensive.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

Took truck to dealer because the headlights, taillights were going on and off intermittently whether the light switch was on of off and the key was in the run position (started or not) and windshield wipers would turn off when this happens. I about had a terrible accident when I found out the wipers quit working, imagine that! took my 2002 Dodge ram 4x4, 3. 7l quad cab sport to dealer and they said it was the pdc (power distribution center (fuse box)) that they are prone to corrosion and they have replaced many of them. Why no recall when many lives are at stake here and so many problems with these found? could have been me, and I have 3 children that depend on me, so Chrysler own up to it and do the right thing.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2009

Fan quit working. Replaced blower motor and fan speed resister due to melting of components. Possible fire risk.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2009

Dash is cracking in several places dropping parts of dashboard into fan motor to overheat causing interference with air conditioner operation.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2009

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Dakota sport. He received a recall notification letter for NHTSA campaign id number, 03v389000, electrical system and notified an authorized dealer. The technician stated that there no recalls that were applicable to his vehicle identification number. He speculated that there was an error in the manufacturers VIN database. There are no failures at this time.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2008

No response from larry green Chrysler dealer 760-921-8900 for recall g28-ignition/park shift interlock. 3 calls to the service department and all 3 times . . . "I'm out of the parts. I will order some and call you".

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

2002 Dodge Dakota with a recall. Consumer states that the headlights and door locks worked fine before it was put into the shop to have the recall performed. She states that now they only work sporadically. Recall # 07v555000.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2008

Ignition/park interlocksystem. Automatic transmission. Shifting lever sticks in park. Cannot shift gear out of park.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2007

Earlier in the week the power door locks were working on and off. Two days later headlights started flashing on and off and making a clicking sound before they went out completely. Interior lights are also not working. Luckily, I was close enough to home and there was still enough twilight to make it home safely. I am going to bring the truck to dealer this week, but I read about a similar problem in the 2003 Dodge Dakotas.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2006

First noticed the problem when I would forget to turn off my headlights after taking keys out. My inside light would start to blink also my warning for seat belts wasn't working. The last thing that happened was what alarmed me. I was traveling to work in the early morning with the headlights on. When I heard my low gas warning go off . All of a sudden my headlights started to blink on and off in sequence with the low gas warning. After work I check and the problem still existed then I filled up with gas and the lights worked fine. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they found that the central timer module was bad. Old part is not available it was just alarming for me and the driver in front of me when my lights started to blink I pulled and had to wait about 15 minutes for it to be light enough to get moving again.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2006

No known event or indication of failure occurred prior to incident. Headlights, dash lights, interior lights, fog lights, door locks, keyless entry, intermittent wipers all ceased to function. This occurred at dawn on a rainy day. Had this occurred during the evening hours an accident may likely have occurred. Repair pending.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2006

Timing control module, tcm is pulsing interior/exterior lights, windshield wipers, etc. To an off state at once per second continuously. When truck is parked, headlamp relay can be heard pulsing. The vehicle cannot be driven at night due to visual confusion and safety problems with other traffic. No apparent cause of failure. Truck has 18k miles and is only 4 years old. Other complaints indicate that tcm was replaced to fix problem. My concern is that the cause of failure may not be internal to tcm and replacing it will be an ongoing event. Has Dodge determined the cause of this module failure? is this not a design flaw since there have been several reports of the same problem?.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2006

At 65 mph using cruise control, daytime, dry pavement, good weather, brake warning light and abs warning light illuminated with warning chime. At next exit, operator took vehicle to repair shop. Technician found right front wheel bearing assembly worn, allowing tire/wheel assembly to be moved 1-2'' from vertical. Vehicle had been checked during state inspection less than 400 miles previously and passed. A total failure in traffic at speed might have resulted in a loss of handling/braking that might have caused or worsened an accident. Failed part is available. Vehicle has also suffered numerous premature failures including: failure of driver heated seat, failure of electric fuel pump, nearly causing accident due to engine stoppage and loss of power steering, failure of instrument cluster, failure of front suspension components, and damage to spare tire due to mis-routed tail pipe. Some of these are manufacturer design defects, others are troubleshooting or repair errors at dealer. Two events (fuel pump, wheel bearing) might have caused accident with injury/death possible outcome.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2006

The lights on my 2002 Dodge Dakota started flashing and a few days later my lights, dash lights and power door locks stopped working. I have had 3 different auto mechanics look at it and no one can figure out what the problem is. My truck has 40,900 miles on it and no wrecks of any kind. My truck is an automatic.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2006

Dashboard is cracking and falling in exposing electrical components to sunlight and intense heat. The problem is getting worse as time goes on.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2006

2002 Dodge Dakota quad cab 4x4 - headlamps and console lights flicker on and off. This causes other vehicles to think you are flashing your lights at them and also you end up driving in complete darkness when this happens.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2005

We own a 2002 Dodge ram 1500 quadcab 4x4, just shortly over a year and about 27k miles, my wife and I started having problems with the engine just shutting off. We've taken the truck in several times to the shop, under the initial warranty, and even after the warranty time out its been in the shop several times under the same "ticket". The dealership finally convinced us to let them allow one of their workers to drive it back and forth to work to have the problem happen to someone that works there and after two days, it just shut off on him. They are aware of the problem, they contacted the district manager for Chrysler and we've been told they have no clue how to fix it so we have to deal with it. We purchased the extended warranty and it still doesn't matter. Now they wont even return our calls. Just last week my wife was driving the truck, taking the exit from creswell, or and getting onto I-5 to head into eugene, which the on-ramp is a standard circular ramp, and as she was turning, only going about 20 to 30 mph, the engine stalled again, leaving her powerless in the middle of the turn forcing her off the ramp and into the muddy middle section almost causing a three car pileup. This has got to stop, this engine is failing at least once a week if not more and is going to end up killing us and Chrysler doesn't care.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2005

On 10-17-05 carried my 2002 Dodge ram quad cab into my mechanic to have checked out ac was not working and the heater was not either he traced the problem to the ing wires and found they were burned. Carried my truck to a local dealer in my hometown because bought my truck out of town. The service department at local dealer was very rude and unhelpful. Swore to my self I would not use them again. Called the dealer where bought my truck there service department was not any better. Ask to speak to person over service he told me if it was same problem as last time then they did not have to fix it because they only had to fix recalls one time only. So when I was off the phone with them I called Dodge recall center to check on this. When they told me the Dodge dealers had to fix gave local dealership one more try. There service department said there was nothing wrong with blower but ing wires were burned. I told them this in the first place so I had to pay for them taking one hour and 50 min to find this out and put a new part in. Service department was still not very nice but had to have my truck so I can work. Them number of times it quit working before it went out all the way is 6 or 7, hope other people have better luck than me. I would think if wires are burning up that Dodge would fix at their cost not mine but guess they don't give a damn.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2005

My 2002 Dodge Dakota sxt club cab has been in for service on 2/14/05, 2/23/05, 3/12/05, 3/26/05 and 4/9/05 for misfiring. It has had 3 fuel injectors 2, 3, and 4 replaced because they were leaking, and all the spark plugs replaced every time it has gone into service. To date, 4/18/05, the vehicle was still misfiring. On each occasion, the engine light came on, and each time, the dealership stated it was the same problem. I have had the dealership at my expense to flush the fuel injector system, and have had service automatic transmission. I have also had the dealership , under warranty, to replace a failing master cylinder on 1/26/05. I anticipate I will be back at the dealership sometime this weekend, as I am sure the engine light will come on again.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2004

2002 Dodge Dakota experiencing problems with the headlights, interior lights, windshield wipers, and the key fod access. The ti module has been replaced three times in the last five months.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2004

Headlights not functioning. All interior lights not functioning, the wipers worked intermittently. The high, low selection for wipers does work. Keyless entry does not work. Contact has taken the vehicle to courtesy tire twice, then to bbc Dodge three times for all of these problems. This started around 11/26/04. Was told they thought it was a loose ground wire, second time they thought it was timer module part no#ti-8035033 and this module was replaced three times, probably four times as consumer is taking care again tomorrow. When the module is first put in everything works well for awhile or until it rains. Consumer states he notices that after it rains everything listed above stops working again. Consumer has contacted his attorney general to report this situation. The transmission made a harsh sound when it was placed into gear.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2004

Consumer was concerned that the vehicle started up, and the headlights came on by themselves while parked in the garage, which was attached to the house. Dealer was not notified.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2004

While driving, the vehicle would stalled. The driver tried to restart, but was unable to start. The driver noticed on more than one occasion while turning on the lights. The interior, and exterior lights would come on and off on its own. The driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the problem could not be determine. Please fill in additional information.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2004

Excessive stoplamp failures, replaced lamps due to melting of base repeatedly,4th time in 8 mos. No service kit or upgrades available, check chevy, same tail light board set-up, same problems, perhaps they have a bulletin on problem? severe shaking under braking, started at 15k miles, servicer refuses to cover under warranty (12k warranty), have found numerous issues with these rotors. Severe shaking on sweeping right hand freeway turns, presently scheduled for service at antioch/delta Dodge. Engine intermittently stalling, unable to duplicate problem when in for service, not noted on service tickets. Independent front end leakage, presently scheduled for service at antioch/delta Dodge. This my 3rd Dodge truck since 1996, 1st one was great, 2nd had repeated rearend issues, 3rd seems to be having excessive issues across the spectrum of components, I would like help in resolving these issues, as presently I still view Dodge as the leader in customer satisfaction.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2004

Currently own a 2002 Dodge ram quad cab. I have had numerous problems with my truck. I myself have also experienced the same problems with the transmission jerking as well as the vehicle completely shutting off when idling (and not even at long periods of time). At times when putting into reverse, the vehicle will not move at all and I have to completely shut off the truck and restart it to get it to move. I haven't had it reported at the dealer yet because they will be unable to duplicate. Just noticed a problem with my rear taillights. At different times, different bulbs would seem to go out causing the "lamp out" indicator lamp to illuminate. When I went to change the bulb myself (cause bulbs are not warranty), I found that the sockets were causing the bulb housing to melt inside the sockets as well as on the bulbs. I took it to the dealer and they only replaced one side because the other they did not have in stock, yet they did not even bother ordering the other side. I have already had my rack & pinion replaced because it was leaking and also have had to have my tcm and pcm reprogramed because they were causing my check engine light to come on as well as making my air conditioning inoperative.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2003

2002 Dodge ram 1500 4. 7l truck will intermittenly stall or have rough idle at stop, also while driving the brake and abs light will flash. Dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem and refuse to fix.
