Seven problems related to air bag have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
So many of these trucks have dashboards that are literally falling apart and the recall on the airbags can't be done without the dashboards being replaced which is above $1400. 00! my 2004 Toyota 4runner dashboard did the same thing, only not as extreme as falling apart like my Dodge ram 1500. Toyota did the right thing and recalled the dashboard! this truck was just purchased for my son and now they can't and won't replace the airbag unless we pay to have the dashboard replaced? if the manufacturer of Dodge doesn't do the same and I or one of my passengers is hurt because of the recall airbag, you best believe there will be a huge lawsuit coming their way!.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v354000 (airbag) however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The dash board on this vehicle is cracking all over. It has cracked around the passenger airbag and pieces have fallen into the airbag compartment. This has not caused injury yet, but if involved in an accident, the broken pieces will definitely cause injury and I hope that they do not affect the airbag deployment. Pieces blow into your face while running the defrost which if struck in the eye could cause an accident.
The windshield appears weak having many pock marks in it. This causes the windshield wipers to need to be replaced often. The dash is severely cracked and we are afraid that this is going to cause the air bag to rupture on the passenger side (besides the fact that it is coming apart).
I have a 2003 Dodge ram and the dash has 2 cracks in it. I am afraid that the cracks could somehow cause the air bags to deploy.
2003 Dodge 1500 quad cab, consumer concern about what type of accident you must have for the air bags to deploy properly. The consumer did not stated if he had an accident.
Airbag failure on 2003 Dodge Dakota sxt. Force was such that frame of truck is bent and will be replaced but neither airbag deployed. Driver side shoulder harness on seat belt also failed. A visit to consumer affairs. Com quickly made me aware that daimler has this problem on many of its vehicles but sends the same "form" letter to each consumer reporting the problem.
