At 3,000 mile the brakes began to shudder, the entire front end of vehicle would shake, then at 9,000 mile service bulletin repair was completed, now at 22,000 I am experiencing the same problem, dealership states that once service bulletin is done Dodge will not repair again, and now warranty is expired on brakes.

At any speed during braking, hard or soft, there seems to be a wash board effect. Truck seems to buck. From reading other reports, it seems to be a manufacturer defect that is being ignored by the manufacturer. I purchased the truck with 62000 miles and at the time, there was smooth braking. Now at 73000 I have the above described problem. I will not take it to a dealer, rather I will take it to a reputable brake shop to have the problem fixed.

2004 Dodge Dakota with 14,000 miles truck <1year old front brake rotors warped not covered by Chrysler from searching the internet it appears this is an on going problem as numerious other individuals have reported the same problem in Dodge Dakota trucks. Rotors sould not warp in 14,00 mile s under normal driving conditions. This appears to be a material defect in the rotors. I have replaced brakes numerious times on other vehicles I have owned and never had this occur with so few miles.

My 2002 Dodge Dakota sport 4x2 has approximately 15,200 miles on it. At approximately 13,000 miles I began to notice that the front end started to rattle and seem loose when going over bumps. After doing some research and having someone look at it, I found that the ball joints are failing prematurely.

I am concerned about the front bake rotors on Dodge Dakotas. Mine were warped after less than 8000 miles of regular use, no towing or hauling with the vehicle. I have talked with and searched for others with similar problems and find that numerous other Dakota owners have had the same problem. These rotors warp so badly that it becomes difficult/dangerous to stop the vehicle safely. When I took the vehicle in for service I was told that this is an uncommon problem and that it was most likely due to my use of the brakes. Now after a total of 17,000 miles the brakes are now warped again. I have owned several other vehicles, many weighing more than a Dakota and have never encountered any brake problems. I wonder if there is a design flaw with the Dakota's brakes that is causing repeated warping. This warping does make it difficult to saftely and effectively stop the veheicle, especially in emergency situations.
2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4, mileage 20800, the front brakes were pulsing and ineffective, the rotors were so badly pitted that they had to be replaced. The Dodge dealership indicated that other trucks were coming in with the same problem. This is a safety problem, defective rotors, and Dodge should issue a recall.

Consumer state the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes at 35mph. Dealer was notified and replaces the front rotors and pads. Again at 10 miles will replace rotors and pads. Please provide further information. Ts.

The rotors on my 2000 Dodge Dakota continue to warp. I have replaced them at my expense (because the dealer won't recognize the obvious engineering problem) various times. Aftermarket parts don't seem to help though it does slow the process down.
Premature corrosion of front brake rotors causing failure of nys vehicle inspection.
Brake vibration with less than 11,000 miles, got rotors turned. The vibration returned, had rotors turned. Six months later they started to vibrate again and still are. Replaced rotors with high performance rotors.
Front disc warp severely, front end shudders when brakes are applied, turned and replaced rotors several times.
