I have a 2002 Dodge ram 1500 p/u truck. I'm aware that it's out of warranty. I plan to keep this truck until I die. The dashboard is completely damaged. I now have a dash cover over it. And it's seem to be falling in as well. Please consider replacing my dash since it's the wrong material on all 3rd gens were made out of polyvinyl chloride. As time passes they dry out and crack. Causing pieces to fall inside causing problems with the blower and electrical system. I plan to travel from san diego CA to chicago ill. In August in my truck, I can't put anything on the dashboard without the fear of damage or malfunction to the electronics or other parts underneath. With liquids or more plastics falling inside or passing though the the dash cover its not water proof or water resistant please help. . . Please help save my truck, please and keep me safe on the road.

I was turning left on to wax rd at a red light going up hill when it was raining the truck right rear tire broke trackshion put me in a fishtail lost controll of the vehical and fliped the truck on its top dameged the driver side bent the frame caved in the froof busted my windshild I was pulled out by an padestrian but the airbag did not deploy none of the safty featers did not work but the seat belt only. Where the throtetal was sticking that gave the impression that I was playing carelessly.

As I start the truck, it kicks when I shift to drive and start to accelerate. I took it to a dealer near me when there was a recall for the rack and pinion and they did not find anything. The truck keeps doing the kick or jumps gears. Maybe the problem is in the cable or the shifter. It keeps doing this to this day and getting worse. Now I have to move the shifter to drive and put it back to park to start the truck. Also the ignition stays on sometimes when the key is removed and this drains the battery. The truck seems to use way to much gas for the driving I do. My job is less than five miles from my house and it uses a lot of gas about 10. 00 every day for such a short distance.

The windshield appears weak having many pock marks in it. This causes the windshield wipers to need to be replaced often. The dash is severely cracked and we are afraid that this is going to cause the air bag to rupture on the passenger side (besides the fact that it is coming apart).

2001 Dodge ram 1500. Dash is disenegrated. Started with a small crack and dash is all splintered up. When dash caves in, could this cause a fire with shorting out the wires? nothing was done by dealer and will not accept responsibility of a defected part. Dodge offered no reason as to why this is happening on the trucks from early on up until approxamately the 2001 year.

Dashboard (badly cracked). At this point the dash on this vehicle have been breaking off like a wafer cookie and exposing the components underneath a/c ,electrical,steering components.

Cracked dashboard for no reason. Car was parked. Opened vehicle to find cracked dash. Told by dealership not their problem. Never had any vehicle ever do this before. Have purchased Dodges for years, but now will not purchase another if they don't own up to their obligations.

I have 2002 Dodge ram 1500 with a cracked dash which is bad the cracks started out small and now there so many that the broken piece have started to fall through into the floor and down through the defrost . What these dashes are made of you would thing that they would not crack but has some of these pieces could become airborne if you have the windows down causing accident if it were to hit you in the face. I think there needs to be a recall before someone gets hurt from flying plastic.

I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 in great condition except for 2 cracks starting in my dashboard coming from the defroster vent area where the 2 screws are located. I understand many many other ram owners have this problem and many of their dashes have fell completely inward exposing wiring a such. The local Dodge dealership has stated that this is definitely a problem but they cant fix it cause their is no open recall on it yet! as much money as we pay for these vehicles we should be able to expect something as functional and cosmetic as your dashboard to last. Action should be taken soon!! Dodge let a vendor supply them with subpar material and they know it yet they are not willing to replace the dashes? makes no sense. I just purchase this truck a few months ago from a used car dealer that is why the incident date below is filled in like it is. Please do the american consumers some justice and make the Chrysler corp fix all these cracked dashes.

Purchased 2002 Dodge ram used. At first service interval, rack and pinion boots were leaking, main seal was shot. Also had manifold leak, along with a steering problem that causes shaking at 40 mph. Steering problem still remains, and there is a loud rattle that the dealership cannot find. This vehicle has been a nightmare, most recently, my fuel pump decided to quit working. Also, the interior trim, namely the hand grips on the driver and passenger door have been replaced numerous times, due to the cheap plastic that is used as a holding ring. Do not purchase this type of vehicle. Have had nothing but headaches with the truck, from the simple things, to the expensive things. . . Was just told that my head gaskets are shot as well, have spent thousands on this truck, with no returns, do not get this year/model of ram 1500.

Cracked dash.

My dash cracked just recently,from the windshield across right above passenger air bag. I see this has been an ongoing problem with this year of truck. The rest of the truck is in great shape, still looks new, except for the dash and I always use a sunshade. Should be a recall. . . . .

Noticed dash had two cracks running from the windshield to the instrument panel. Have used vinyl conditioner since 2001, when new, and have used a inside windshield screen. I called a body shop and the repair could be as much as a $1000. This all on a 2001 Dodge 1500 ram pickup with only 54,000 miles.

The dash on my truck has one large and one small crack. The large crack is on top in the middle. The small crack is near the passenger air bag compartment. This truck has been well maintained and garage kept for 90% of its life.

Dashboard cracked in many places.

My 2001 Dodge quad cab ram 1500 truck dash has within the last 6 months nearly collapsed from cracking and falling apart. It seems that this may interfere with the airbag deployment on the passenger side. I have taken very good care of my vehicle. It has almost 100k miles on it and yet on the outside it looks nearly new. I am presently looking at how I can replace this dash.

Dashboard on my 2001 Dodge 1500 quad cab is cracked. Started cracking about 2 years ago. Vehicle is parked 9 times out of 10 in a house garage or in a parking garage structure for work. It's cracked in 3 different places the largest crack running from the defroster vent all the way to the airbag location.

I have the same common problem with the dashboard being cracked,I regularly use armorall so as to keep the dashboard from fading and cracking,but to no avail.

2002 Dodge Dakota warped routers. This seems to have been a problem with many of the Dakota's this website alone had numerous complaints. I have owned this vehicle only one year and just took for inspection, power steering rack had to be replaced in excess of $900 and experiencing problem with vibration when stopping.

I have a 2001 Dodge ram truck that's dash has cracked and come apart in 6-7 pieces. This started to occur in 2003 and has continued to worsen. I first noticed the problem at around 52000 miles. I called the dealer in odessa and received no satisfaction. The dash has to be replaced and while looking on line I came across a site where a number of other customers have had the same problem.

There is a crack in the dash that started at the defrost vent and came forward to the passenger side airbag, there are seven more cracks that have sprouted off of the initial crack. The cracks have caused a six inch hole in the center of the dash. The piece of plastic fell into the dash and is now somewhere up against the airbag. There is a great concern that this will damage the airbag causing it not to deploy properly if at all. There is also concern that if it does deploy will the plastic pieces that have fallen into the dash deploy with it causing great bodily harm.

I drive a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 4x2 quad cab. I am a victim of the famous "cracked dash" as well. At around 38,000 miles I started to notice a small crack that went about 2 inches or so from the right screw (pass side) at the defrost vent for the windshield. I took it to the dealer thinking that my extended warranty would take care of it, not realizing that only the original warranty takes care of trim work, the extended warranty will not cover the work , according to the dealer, metro Dodge in snellville, GA. Shortly after I began noticing small cracks developing all around my dash, however the first one was making its way to the air bag. It has since progressed into the entire dash on pass side being almost completely broken out at the top, and just falling to pieces. I consider replacing the dash but since then the door jam cover (between the windshield and door, at about eye level, on the driver side has started falling apart as well. So I figure that their is no reason to do the dash unless I can do it all, and I do not have the money for that, however I am concerned with possible safety issues associated with this problem, and have since researched the problem on the internet and have learned about certain safety issues associated with the cracked dash. This is a major concern of mine and I would like it fixed. If I were to have an accident and my air bags deploy, the cracked dash could cause the airbags to be punctured and possibly limit my safety, along with my teenager.
