1 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

Burned oil and need to put oil in after 750 miles. New engine was put in, but it still have problems. The problem first started 12/4/17. I was driving my car and it completely stop without warning. I took it to the dealer and it was determined that it was an engine issue. After 6 months, the engine was replaced. It was burning oil.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2016

On 3 separate occasions, my 2013 Dodge Dart gt with a 2. 4 tiger shark engine with multiair has shut down while the car was moving on the road. The reason for this the dealership told me was due to low oil, which we recently realized uses at least 1/2 quart per 1,000 miles. The dealer says this is within normal limits. They said that before 50,000 miles it is within normal limits to burn 1 quart for every 1000 miles and after 50,000 miles it is normal to burn 1 quart for every 750 miles. This was never divulged to me when I purchased the vehicle. It first did this starting at 35,000 miles. The vehicle now has 42,000 miles. There has never been any oil light or any other engine light that goes on before the vehicle dies. It has left me stranded in the middle of the road in some very dangerous situations. I no longer feel safe driving this car and who would want to buy it from me? two dealerships have told me that it is normal for the engine on this car to burn lots of oil, to die while the car is moving if the oil is low, and for the oil light not to go on because the car will stop running before the sensor is activated. They tell me they have seen this before. The major problem is the oil sensor never activates to tell me the oil is low. They tell me to check the oil level every time I put gas in the car. I find that to be an unacceptable solution. The oil has always been changed at normal intervals.

3 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2015

Car stalled while operating under full power on the interstate. It took approx. 3 minutes and it finally restarted. Took car to dealership. They state car is not part of any recall based on VIN #. They state stalling was result of extremely low oil. However, the care has no leak and does not burn oil. It is synthetic oil and it simply break downs and dissipates. I don't believe them. This is the second time this car has done this and the first time they re-flashed the computer with a software patch to fix problem.

4 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2014

I had to take my vehicle in for service in August of 2014 because my vehicle completely turned off on me while at a red light. When I turned the vehicle back on, my transmission engine light came on. So I immediately took my vehicle to the dealership and they told me I had a transmission issue and they had to order a part for the transmission. I had to take my vehicle in for service again in February of 2015 because my vehicle turned off on me once again while stuck in traffic on the expressway. When I turned on my vehicle the transmission engine light came back on. Again, I took my vehicle to dealership, I was told that my vehicle was again having the same issue from the previous months before. Once again I had to take my vehicle in for service on may of 2015 because my vehicle turned off on me for the third time while at a stop light but this time my vehicle started to smell like it was burning oil. When I turned on my vehicle, my oil pressure light came on. When my car was being looked at, they told me that they did not find anything wrong with my vehicle and they also stated that " something worse had to happen to my vehicle for them fix the problem. " they test drove my vehicle and they did not find anything wrong with the vehicle so it was returned to me. Something is definitely wrong with this vehicle if it keeps on shutting off on me while waiting at a red light and also smelling like burning oil and for them to tell me that nothing is wrong with my car this last visit is really upsetting. All of these scenarios have happened in less than a year of purchasing my vehicle. This is very scary and something needs to be done before this causes a crash or possibly death! I sent a letter to Chrysler about this situation, and they told me that there is nothing they can do because there is no recall on my vehicle. This is so sad.

5 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving, the transmission malfunctioned and shifted gears. The failure occurred intermittently during the change of seasons. The failure occurred originally when the vehicle was first purchased. The vehicle was taken to huntington Jeep Chrysler Dodge ram (1220 e jericho turnpike, huntington, NY 11743, (631) 993-3300) where the transmission was reprogrammed. When the vehicle was purchased, the contact suspected there was an issue because the dealer was attempting to repair a defective part. The vehicle was also brought back at the time of purchase for overconsumption of oil. The contact had to pay for an oil consumption test, which was still an ongoing issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who referred the contact back to the manufacturer. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and advised the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 10,000.
