general problems of the 2015 Dodge Dart - part 2

Car dropped out of gear in the middle of the highway during rush hour traffic. It was terrifying I was almost rear ended but was luckily able to get off the road safely. Dropped speed and there was no acceleration.

The check engine and tpms warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that after shifting to park(p), the vehicle failed to turn off with the message “shift to park” displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

Suspension is too easily adjusted. The littlest bump will throw out alignment and have the receipts to prove. Wheels bend easily, specifically 18 inch rims. Engine used too much oil and leaves your car to shut off automatically which is added as the issue is know to happen. I am 2,500 miles away from an oil change and I need to add oil because the car uses so much. The issue is know by Dodge and online thousands of people know about it.

While driving my car would shut down with out notice, when doing so it's hard to steer the car over out of traffic, which is dangerous. This has happened multiple times while driving with my children.

On evening of Friday November 9, 2018, the transmission began to slip and was very sluggish. The next day November 10, 2018 at 12:15 pm while driving on hwy 485 in charlotte nc and before I could take it to the dealer for a check; the clutch brake exploded like a grenade, sending schrapnal through the transmission. We were lucky it didn't come through the cab or my family would have been killed. The traffic was very heavy due to the holiday weekend, we were also lucky that we didn't get into an accident. I have driven standard transmissions all my life and this has never happened. To say the very least I am upset this vehicle should be under warrantee due to the low mileage and since I bought it on Jan 29, 2016, it is under 3 years. However, I am looking at a $3500 bill to repair or replace the transmission. This is completely unacceptable, the clutch brake should never explode like that. Chrysler is selling weak manufactured parts to the public. This should be recalled and checked or replaced with a better clutch brake before someone is killed.

My 2015 Dodge Dart engine randomly shuts off when I drive it , I've brung it to multiple repair shops and they have all said that my car is fine no codes shows up on diagnostic. This is a major safety issue if no auto shop knows what's to do and is keep saying my engine is fine when obviously it isn't if it keeps on randomly shutting down in the middle of the street.

Takata recall: the vehicle low air pressure light will chime when making a left or right turn and the car will loose power and shut off. The car will take 5 min to start up the engine and when going over a speed bump will trigger the vehicle to loose power and shut down as well.

My transmission places itself into neutral. But it is not under a recall even though it fits the category.

When I drive and brake the car cuts off and the steering wheel locks and its hard to start back up im in the middle of the street.

I was driving and came to a 4 way stop sign, after completely stopping I proceeded to pull off. As I began to turn the car slowed down tremendously and come to a complete stop and the red battery light came on. I was unable to start the car back up until about 15 to 20 minutes later. Every day following this day, the car began to start up and stop after going only a few feet with the engine light coming on.

Vehicle has scaring on the cylinder walls that is soaking up oil and causing a excessive oil loss, causing the vehicle to shut down when taking a corner and not able to restart the vehicle for a period of time. I have been stranded in the middle of the road a few times not able to start the vehicle resulting in me having to jump start it to be able to get the vehicle to move. Apparently this is a common problem with the 2. 4l tigershark engines. I am afraid I will be stranded on a busy street and the possibility to be hit. My vehicle is currently at the selling dealership and is telling me that Chrysler is denying the claim for a engine replacement, they are telling the tech to give me an oil change and send me on my way.

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. While operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator suddenly illuminated and the instrument panel electronics and gauges suddenly turned off. The vehicle was towed to friendly Dodge (1395 newlands dr, friendly, nv) where it was diagnosed that the thermostat was faulty and needed to be replaced. The thermostat was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.

When driving the Dart, the vehicle will shut off while in drive. The dealer is saying that it is a safety switch for low oil. However there is no oil light turning on on the dash board and there is oil life remaining on the digital display. This has happened numerous times with no resolve. The dealer has even went as far as to say "well, you bought a Dodge Dart". When we purchased the Dart, we bought the maintenance package, including oil changes. We use this package all the time and there would be no excuse to be low on oil that fast in a newer vehicle. This has happened a half dozen times, speeds varying from driving in a parking lot (5-10mph) , to down a street(35-45mph) thankfully never on a highway. We are fearful for the day this happens with children in the car. We have been in contact with daimler Chrysler and they have not helped. One mechanic has told me this happens more often that you would think. But still no resolve.

I have driven my 2015 Dodge Dart without issue till 2/15/17. It died in the middle of my wife driving the interstate on i40. The following day it died and my father in law had to jump the vehicle off to get it going. Today, (2/17/17), I decided to drive the car to work because my commute is shorter and much less dangerous. I pulled out of my drive way and drove to the end of the road till I got to the main street in our hometown, and it died thankfully before I got on that street. The car just completely stops. Steering wheel locks. All electronics in vehicle stop. Braking is slightly delayed. I took it to the Dodge dealership in town and they said to check the oil. We did and had them change it. My main concern is highway driving where people drive 60+ mph and not being able to steer into the shoulder.

Nov 2016, loss of power while driving, went into neutral, would start a few minutes later, but loss of power again. Took to dealership & they replaced the engine. Feb 2017 key stopped working, changed battery still didn't work, changed it again & it worked. April 6, 2017 loss of power completed died, I could not jump it, could not lock my doors, could not do anything. Picked up car from dealership on April 10, they said that they changed the battery. While still there picking up my car, my blinker lights blew out, notification on the screen says right & left blinker light out. They switched out the bulbs. Got it home & notification said low beam lights out. The next morning had no lights. Taking to the dealership again tomorrow. I am forcing them to look at the electrical system I am close to my 36000 mile warranty.

The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and restarted. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where an oil change was performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000. The VIN was not provided.

The Dodge dealership had me to come in to reprogram my cars pcm(under recall) because it was burning a quart of oil in less than 300 miles and getting extremely hot but now the engine has less oil burn as much as before but has less horsepower(tested by plugin meter) and has a ton of blowby that it blows oil out of drain plug there is no error codes or anything but the extended warranty test for a new engine isnt covered because they reprogrammed the pcm and to get a new engine under their extended warranty I would have to lose the amount of oil that I was previously before they touched the pcm they waited to show me the extended warranty after they reprogrammed it a year prior withholding that I could been eligible for new engine without catastrophic damage this car also has bcm 3 that has severe parasitic drain making the car unsafe all the way around on all 2015 models.

The electrical has a parasitic drain and it puts so much strain on the car that it will shut down on highways and in idle surging and it has no error codes popping up at all it originally started happening July 12th 2016 but a lot of these 2015 Dodge Darts are having these issues and having shut downs in the middle of intersections-highways and so on that this needs to be urgently recalled I desperately need help with this I take care of my disabled mother by myself and this has been a issue with this car for a while and well documented at the dealership with no help or recourse.

I have had issues since the day I bought the car. I have 26,000 miles and am on my third set of tires. The dealer tells me that they do not feel anything is wrong yet the tires keep wearing out and one recently had a bulge, I complained of a whirling sound and they told me it was the tires, I replaced the tires and it is still there. I keep taking the car in and it is one excuse after another. I report the issues to Dodge and they tell me to go to the dealer. A mechanic at the dealer told me that the car runs like a tractor trailer, it is idling at 2,000 rpm in park when it should be 900 or less and it sounds like there is an issue in the rear end and engine mount issues. I'm afraid the car will fall apart while I'm driving it. I need someone to help me get Dodge to figure out what the issues are. They had the audacity to tell me my driving habits are the reason I need tires every 10,000 miles. I have a camaro that I drive like a bat out of hell and got my first set of tires at 50,000 miles. Something is wrong with this car and no one at Dodge will help. Will it take me getting killed for someone to do something??.

First, I hate this car! the engine light came on! has started wanting to go dead when stopping at stop sign or stop lights. Took to dealership and would not put on machine! the seats are positioned horribly. Seems like it is declining really fast. Purchased in may 2015 with 5 miles on it.

Unexpectedly loss motive power resulted in a crash.

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 60 mph, the rpms revved independently without warning. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving on the freeway for about 10 minutes, I noticed the tach was approaching redline and discovered the car had gone into neutral but shift lever was in drive. I pull onto the shoulder and after stopping, placed shift lever into park. Revved the engine a couple of times and transmission went into gear with no other problems. This has occurred only once. I have been informed that this vehicle is being recalled by Chrysler for a similar issue. I have not been contacted by Chrysler as of yet.

Driving at approx. 20 mph, getting ready to make a right turn into a parking lot, battery light illuminated, instrument panel went black, total loss of electrical power and steering. Coasted into a parking space and returned to car in about 20 minutes. Car started and acted normal. Next incident was about 35 miles later driving about 35 mph in a residential area. Same senario, battery light illuminated black panel and loss of steering. Took 10 minutes for car to regain power and start. Third episode at about 45 mph, battery light flashed, I shoved shift into neutral, panel remained lit, but no rpm so engine had quit. I pushed start button, engine restarted and I put shift lever into drive. Took to dealer but no codes. This car is dangerous but issue cannot be duplicated at the dealership because it is intermittent. I am trying to get Chrysler to repurchase this death trap.

The car is using oil and will completely die while driving. When it becomes empty if I come to a stop it will completely die and I lose all power steering and the car struggles to turn back on. Dodge is aware of this issue on so many Darts and nothing is being fixed. This engine needs to be recalled! twice between oil changes this last time I have been completely empty. This has happened since the very beginning that I had the car.
