Five problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Durango. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The driver side seat track has broken off. The seat now will rock back and forth when the vehicle is in motion.
While driving 25 mph front driver's side seat collapsed backward. Consumer was able to maintain control of vehicle, and drove it to the dealer. Mechanic determined that front seat needed to be replaced , and the seat was on back order from the manufacturer.
Third row of seats, when applying the latch to get out of the vehicle, the third row of seats won't allow the door to open.
The driver seat collapsed while the consumer was driving. The consumer requested reimbursement.
Seat belt web is in close proximity to second row seat base latch mechanism for the outside seat and can drop down, interfering with the latch. Seat will pivot back to its normal position, but may not be properly latched. If this happens and vehicle wasto make a maneuver, such as hard braking, the second row outside seat can pivot forward and hit driver in back of head.
