Gas over flowed twice when filling tank. Thought it was a one time thing but I can no longerfill my tank for fear of it overflowing.
This truck was purchased used in November 2011 with 45000 miles. I have filled the tank 3 times and every time the pump auto shut-off clicks and a few cups of fuel overflows and spills down the side of the vehicle. The 2005 model year was recalled with this same problem, but 2007 had not yet been recalled.
My Durango is having the same problem that I see complaints all over the place for. I have the fuel spewing back out of the tank when I am pumping gas. . . The nozzle will click off, then a geyser shoots out and it's a lot! this is absolutely ridiculous that nothing has been done to recall/fix this problem. How long or how many vehicles is it going to take before any action will take place. Are ya'll waiting for someone to die. . . A fire. . . Etc?? this is a hazard, not only for the person who is filling up the tank, but for the gas station as well. When this happened to me, my hand burned for the majority of the day, and this was after I washed it several times. . . . Not to mention my scrubs were ruined. Something seriously needs to be done to correct this issue before someone gets hurts!.
While filling up the fuel tank and relying on the automatic shut off, gas will spew out covering the person standing there, the ground, and the side of the vehicle. Even when approximating the tank being full and trying to control the flow by hand, gasoline will overflow just not with the same force. Besides the annoyance of being covered in and smelling like gasoline, this defect poses major safety risks. Man up Dodge and help us get this fixed.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that fuel spilled from the fuel tank when filled to capacity. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was told that the check valve in the tank was broken and causing fuel to spill. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 33,000.
When removing the nozzle after filling the gas tank to full, quite a bit of fuel splashes out of the tank. This has happened several times, nearly every time I have filled up the car.
2007 Dodge Durango. When refueling the auto, fuel spews from the tank extremely dangereous situation and fire hazard. This happens regardless of the flow of gas into the tank. Please do someting before a serious event takes place and lives are lost or serious injury takes place.
Fuel tank over flow, thanks to Dodge my three year old son spent six hours in the emergency room and patches over his eyes for over a week after being sprayed with gas that shot out of the tank on fill up. I will be advising an attorney next Monday.
Fuel spill occurs every time tank is filled. When pump senses tank is full, it shuts off and moments later fuel spouts out of car from fill tube. This occurs even when filling slowly. Car was purchased in 3/20/11; this is on ongoing problem from day one.
Fuel spill occurs every time tank is filled. When pump senses tank is full, it shuts off and moments later fuel spouts out of car from fill tube. This occurs even when filling slowly. In new york most stations are self service and require you hold the trigger of pump nozzle; one's hand (or worse) is frequently sprayed with fuel. Car was purchased in 12/10; this is on ongoing problem from day one.
When filling my 2007 Dodge Durango with gas at many stations, the nozzle shuts off but then about half a quart of gas "burps" back out of the tank down the side of the truck and onto the ground.
When filling the tank on my 2007 Durango 5. 7l 4x4 the auto fuel shut off doesn't work resulting in a major fuel spill. This is an enviornmental concern as well as a thermal event hazzard (fire hazzard). Happens at all gas stations that ive used in the last 5 fill-ups. I now have to turn the electrical on to view the fuel gage on the dashboard and stop the delivery pump manually.
Failed check valve in fuel tank on my 2007 Dodge Durango caused fuel to overflow and splash out of the filler neck when full. Extreme safety hazard to all in the vicinity, including the service station if ignited by a accidental source.
While filling our 2007 Dodge Durango, it routinely overflows gasoline from the fuel tank. We have owned this vehicle since new (Aug. 2007) and this also has done this to varying degrees. It happens regardless what station we happen to fill up at. Once the pump's automatic shutoff kicks off the fuel, approximately a 2 seconds later a gush of fuel comes spewing out of the filler nozzle. Until recently I thought these occurrences were due to the pumps, but I have seen videos and read other reports of exact occurrences on other like-durangos. This is a very hazardous condition that so far Dodge has not corrected for us.
When you fill up the gas tank and the nozzle shuts off, gas shoots back out of the filler tube.
On my 2007 Dodge Durango every time the gas tank is filled it overflows onto the ground which is a safety hazard. The fumes are bad inside the truck after this overflow and I have a child riding in there so I have to wash the truck every time this happens. At first I thought it was a faulty gas pump but after it happened repeatedly at various stations I realized it was the vehicle. Then I thought it must be the filler neck so I took it to a shop to have it replaced because it is out of warranty and $213 later it still overflowing on the ground. Next I looked online to see if anyone else was having the same problem and discovered many many people are. 2005 through 2008 that I have seen and everyone says you have to replace the fuel tank because of a defective valve. There was a recall on 2005 models and I can see why Dodge would want to ignore the problem on the rest because it will cost them money but I cannot understand why the government has not forced them to do a recall. This problem is obviously a manufacturer defect. What other vehicles dump gas on the ground when they are 3 years old? none! a recall needs to be done on these vehicles before someone gets blown up or burned.
The fuel tank shut off or overfill device that prevents overfilling is failing on all Dodge Durangos in our fleet. This allows the vehicle to "burp" out approximately 2 quarts of fuels with enough force to hit the adjacent pump.
I own a 2007 Dodge Durango. At the conclusion of gas tank fill-up gas squirts out of tank opening. Covers side of car and anyone standing beside gas nozzle with gas, and also heavy pounding on the ground. Approximately 1/2 gallon discharges under pressure. This has been occurring over the past 3-4 weeks at several different gas stations. I contacted my local Chrysler/Dodge dealer and was told that this was not a defect covered by recall. They provided me with a phone number for Chrysler 888-992-1997. I contacted them and they confirmed that this is not a covered recall. They did however take my complain and will have a service rep. Contact me regarding it.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that fuel would spew out of the fuel tank while refueling. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer or a local mechanic for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 63,000.
My 2007 Dodge Durango 4x4 limited overflows gasoline at the fuel filler neck each time I allow the auto-shutoff to fill the tank. This problem started at approximately 55,000 miles. The fuel shutoff always works, but a second or so later, a large spray of pressurized fuel squirts out of the filler neck from around the fuel nozzle. Again, this happens every time the vehicle is filled, no matter what gas station and no matter what temperature or prior fuel level. It has happened continually for the past two years. I can prevent the overspray by shutting off the fuel before the tank is full and allowing the nozzle to stand for 20 seconds before removing it. The Dodge dealerships I have talked to do not believe it is happening. This is a fire-safety issue and needs to be investigated.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that when fuel was added to the vehicle it spilled out of the fuel tank. The dealer inspected the vehicle and when they added fuel to the vehicle the identical failure recurred and sprayed from the filler tube once the tank was full. The dealer stated that the fuel tank was neither under warranty or recall. The failure mileage and current mileages were 66000.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while filling her tank, the fuel spilled back out onto the ground. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000. The VIN was unavailable.
This started about 2 months ago. When I fill up my 2007 Durango with fuel, the second it is done filling, the fuel comes back out of the tank onto the ground and the side of the car. I have tried filling it manually and the same thing happens. I took it to Dodge and they said the only way to fix it is with a new gas tank, $785. 00!! my car has 45,000 miles on it and is out of warranty. No way can I afford that kind of money right now so I told them to forget it. I see now where there was a recall for this problem on the 2005 Durangos and 2006 -2008's are having the same problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango 4x4. The contact stated the when refueling the vehicle, gasoline fuel would spew back out of the fuel tank uncontrollably. The contact stated that approximately one half gallon of gasoline would spew out of the fuel tank and had been a recurring failure for approximately seven months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure where the contact was advised that the fuel tank would need replacing. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) which applied to the 2005 model but not the 2007 model yet the dealer and manufacturer agreed to assist with fifty percent of the repair costs. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000 and the approximate current mileage was 51,000.
When you fill up the gas tank and the nozzle shuts off, gas shoots back out of the fill tube connected to the tank.
My 2007 Dodge Durango slt started overflowing during pumping gas about 6 months ago. Once the tank fills up, it shoots about 500 ml of gas out of the tank before the pump shuts off. I first thought it was the pump, so I tried different station and different pumps and always the same result. I also tried to fill up the tank about 90% of the way, pull out the pump to let it vent, and then continue pumping after the tank was vented. This didnt help. This is a very serious problem. I shoots a half liter of gas onto the ground that soakes into the ground, pools on the ground, and runs all over the car. If someone was smoking or something sparked, a lot of people can be killed. It should be a recall! this has happend to me at least 20 times, in the last 6 months to some degree even while knowing it is going to happen. Something needs to happen.
Everytime I try to fill the gas tank, it spews gas back out at me. The automatic pump shutoff will trip followed immediately by a bunch of gas squirting back out of the vehicle. This cannot be safe.
While trying to fill the fuel tank, there was a gas overflow spewing gasoline all over myself and vehicle.
When fueling, the vehicle overflows, the gas pump won't shut off and gas spews from the filler neck. Happens almost all the time when filling the fuel tank full. Could be a fire hazard and also bad for the paint.
I have a 2007 Dodge Durango. The last three times I put gas (at two different gas stations) the gas sprayed back out with lots of force. The last time, I did not even fill the tank completely and still the gas spilled out. At first I thought it was the gas pump, but it has occurred at two different gas stations. The employee at the gas station indicated that they seen the same problem with other Dodge Durango. I am very concern because of the danger this situation represent. Can anyone please help?.
Fuel spews out of filler neck when the tank is filled.
Every time I fill up the gas tank thinking the pump will stop on its own, it does not. Gas flies out of the tank down the side and all over the ground. No way to stop this, no mater how fast u fill up it still does this. This is dangerous since their is a stop in the tank for this purpose so if your in a accident fuel does not spill.
Gas sprays out of filler tube 3 to 5 feet after the gas pump shuts off. Started at about 40,000 miles. I have a 2007 Dodge Durango 4. 7 lt, 4wd. It happens every time I fill up the gas tank. The car has about 43,000 miles. Dealer says there is no recal and I have to pay. There was a recal for the 2005 Durango.
My 2007 Dodge Durango 4x4 started throwing back gasoline from the filler tube. This started occurring about 4-6 weeks ago and now happens everytime I fill the tank. Does not make any difference where, when, or if I hold the nozzle or not. Sometimes the gas comes back with enough force to get all over my clothes and shoes. Very dangerous situation. I read about the same problem with '05 Durangos and called Chrysler. They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and told me to take it to the dealer. I have made an appointment at al west Chrysler for Mar. 25, 2010. When I explained the problem to the service writer, he also acted like I was the first person with this problem.
I own a 2007 Dodge Durango and it has begun spitting out the fuel if I attempt to fill the tank. Besides being frustrating this is a serious accident waiting to happen. My Durango is no longer under warranty and I currently can not afford to pay to have the issue diagnosed. However, I have joined a Dodge forum and this problem is occurring on several Durangos to include the 2005, 2006, and 2007 models. This should be a recall on all models. Apparently in the past this same issue was reported in the 2005 model and a recall was generated.
