When filling up the gas tank extra gasoline is spit out of the tank which is a fire issue for the gas station. If we are filling the gas tank, when the pump automatically stops gas pours back out of the tank. Also the gas cap light came on recently & the gas cap was replaced but light came back on. I believe this would be the same recall as the 2005 Dodge Durango fuel system gasoline storage tank assembly. We are taking the truck to the dealer in little falls, NJ on Monday, December 26, 2011 for the repairs to be made. If you search the internet you will find other Dodge Durangos with the same issue. There is a youtube video of a 2007 Dodge Durango demonstrating what happens at the end of filling the tank. . Read more...
The fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve does not fully close at the end of refueling. It allows some fuel to escape from the vehicle filler neck. Now the gas cap light message stays on and the check engine light came on and stays on. This was a recall for the 2005 Durango mine is a 2007 is this recall still active for my vehicle?.
I have a 2007 Dodge Durango and I am experiencing problems when I attempt to fill the vehicle up with fuel. Just after the gas pump nozzle clicks off, gas sprays back out of the fuel cap and onto the side of the car, the ground and me if I'm standing to close. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact noticed that when fueling the vehicle, the fuel would spill out onto her clothing and onto the ground. The failure was similar to recall 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap). The dealer or manufacturer had not been notified and the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The current mileage was 36,000 and the failure mileage was 26,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I had been noticing that when I would fill up my Durango, when it got to the top, it would spill out all over my car and on the ground. At first I thought it was just a fluke but it has continued to do so. I called the dealership and all they told me was that they would just have to look at it to discover what the problem was. I then took it to my mechanic and he told me that there was a recall for this very thing and advised me to call the number listed 1-800-853-1403. I was told by the person on the on the other end that my Durango was not one of them. I proceeded to tell her even though when this very recall is exactly what my car is doing and it is a 2005 model. She said no. Well I am now having to have this same recall issue fixed and paid for out of my own pocket because you don't believe my mechanic. He will be submitting this on the bill as to what he had to do to fix the problem. I tried doing this the nice way but no one on the other end would listen. Go figure. I will also be filing a complaint with the bbb as well.
I bought the vehicle new and noticed within the first 1000 miles when filling up and using the auto shut off, gas would spill out of the tank on the side of the car. I thought it was the pump itself and tried others. I was told by local Dodge dealer there wasn't a problem and no check engine lights would ever come on indicating an issue. My fuel cap has been replaced several times but I can't use auto shutoff any more with this vehicle. I've gotten use to not filling up but have been told by others this could be dangerous. My car goes in the shop tues 1/9/12 under warranty and wondering what they will say.
