We own a 2013 Dodge Durango with 175,000 mile on it and has been a great vehicle up until it started losing power while driving. After having several mechanics trouble shoot the issue we found out the the engine was actually misfiring and because of a bad lifter. After our mechanic contacted our local dealership to find out that the lifter for the 5. 7 hemi engine is on backorder with no eta of when it will be in and being told that this is a very common issue. This tells me that there needs to be more investigated here, after doing some research it looks like this is a known issue with Dodges 5. 7 hemi engine not just in the Durango but in all of their vehicles and that other people have reported this issue but nothing has been done about this. This issue could have lead to a much bigger safety issue if the engine stalling would have happened and cause harm or death of my husband while driving this vehicle. Right now we are just fighting to recoup our costs for the repairs on a vehicle that we are still paying for.
Every 3 or 5 days, after starting the engine, it completely stops. All power is lost. In order for the engine to start again, I have to depress the ignition button and open up the driver side door! it seems like this is an electrical problem. I'm afraid the engine might stall while I'm driving the vehicle. Has there been a recall to address this problem? I bought the vehicle exactly one year again and this problem began exactly one month after I purchased it. June, 2018.
