general problems of the 2013 Dodge Durango - part 1

My vehicle constantly stalls at idle or while stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. I was so bothersome is that the vehicle rolls back during these endeavors. It usually happens 3 or 4 times a day. I've taken in to the dealer for the recall they replaced the recall parts, but it still continues to stall. It's more frustrating when I'm at a stoplight and I have people behind me honking because the vehicle rolls back as it stalls.

While driving the vehicle occasionally stalls without a check engine light or codes showing up.

My vehicle just clicks when I try to start it. The engine will not turn-over; it just clicks. Risk is that there wasn't any engine light warning or anything, and it is 19 degrees fahrenheit with a -14 windchill outside. My vehicle was brought to the Dodge/Chrysler dealership a few times for noises and overheating issues, but they said there weren't any problems. I knew there were issues because my vehicle's temperature gauge would go high for no apparent reason. I've been consistent with oil changes and fixed recommendations of wear and tear.

Fuel line disconnected from fuel rail, causing gasoline to flow onto engine while going 55 mph, stalling motor with resulting loss of power steering and power brakes.

The Durango showed no signs of a check engine light prior to. I called out a professional (aaa) to see what was going on and he said the there is no fuel going from the tank to crank the car. As if I was out of gas. I just had the recall serviced in 2023 I believe. It has not been long ago at all. I get my vehicle serviced regularly. I had my children, nieces, nephew, mother, & sister in law with me stranded because of this.

Took my vehicle to 1 dealership to get fixed they said they couldn’t do it because my vehicle was too old and wouldn’t be able to find parts. Took my vehicle to 2 mechanics shops that said they could fix it. Insisted I need a wire harness after completing other work they thought would fix it. My daughter came to visit and I told her what was going on. She began to look through wire diagrams of the vehicle and noticed the tipm being a common factor in the systems that were effected. She took my VIN and noticed a recall that has not been addressed. I bought this vehicle not long ago from an independent dealership… I don’t understand how it is legal that neither vehicle maintenance facility informed me of the open recall that has yet to be perform on this vehicle. I don’t understand how it is legal for a dealership not to inform me that a recall has yet to be address with this vehicle. Yet for every-time I get maintenance the VIN is to be recorded… so as I’m trying to fix the vehicle mechanics enter this VIN sees a recall that could very well be related to the recall and do nothing but charge me for parts and don’t even inform me? how is any of that legal!?.

I took my car to do the recall for the fuel pump relay it worked for about a week but same problem after that I took it to a Dodge dealership and they charged me almost 900 bucks to do the recall.

My car sputtered put after it was in motion. Upon trying to restart, the vehicle continuously shook while trying to restart during this time, I could not stop the car from trying with the start/off button or keys. I had to wait for the car to “give up”. The car could not restart. This is unsafe because I could have been killed by other traveling vehicles to abrupt stopping or killed while trying to restart the vehicle. The vehicle could not be put into drive or reverse and I could not stop it from trying to restart once I pressed the button. This could’ve caused a collision with other vehicles. I had the vehicle towed to an auto shop. They told me that the fuel injector fuse went bad which caused the stalling because gas could no longer travel through the vehicle. I have attached towing receipt and will post report once it’s emailed.

At 40 mph and more vehicle stalls and shake intermittent stalls, stumble. Vehicle do not cut off. But stumble real bad. It's really bad in overdrive. 2 or more people in it.

My 2012 Dodge Durango was serviced under NHTSA campaign 19-v813. This called for the replacement of the fuel pump relay to correct a potential no-start or stall situation. This also prevented fuel pump failure due to the unit not being switched off by the tipm when the car is turned off. This repair has not corrected the problem. The car would be available for inspection upon request. The safety of the occupants could be at risk. The problem is intermittent and has not been able to be duplicated at the dealer. There are no warning lamps or codes that can be read. The car will crank over for an extended period of time but will not start. This is an intermittent problem and occurs two times a month or more, has been happening since fall of 2020, and has been increasing in frequency. The fuel pump relay was replaced in June 2021 and the car had a no-start two weeks later. The check engine light does not come on. No codes are found by the dealer. The engine has not quit while in motion, but possibly could as this problem increases in frequency. On two occasions while the car was in motion the right rear window went down for no reason. The window could not be raised until the car was brought to a stop, turned off and started again. The window could then be raised using the driver's door control. This poses a danger to the occupants of the vehicle especially during severe weather and is at least a distraction to the driver. The common denominator in these two problems is the tipm. I think the fuel pump relay problem is actually a problem found deeper within the tipm. Chrysler is simply saying that the "flix" is a relay and not the real culprit, the much more expensive tipm. The dealer says they cannot diagnose this problem unless it is happening on their lot. They have inspected the fuel pump relay work that was done under recall and said that the installation was correct.

Crank wont start engine light etc sign and abs and crank forever then start then cut off within 5-10 secs with high rpm.

I believe that my vehicle falls under the Dodge r09 recall. As I accelerated on the gas, my car stalled out causing me to coast to the median. After about 30 minutes the car began to run without issue again. My vehicle acted exactly like the description from the recall for the fuel sensor. However, Dodge told me to pay out of pocket because it was not under the recall.

The contact received a recall notification from the manufacturer advising to schedule a recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000(electrical system), however, the dealer informed parts are not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated the vehicle had been stalling suddenly while driving between 35 and 50 miles per hour. When the failure occurred multiple warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel; however, the contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure was related to the electrical system recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. VIN tool does not confirm whether parts are unavailable.

My vehicle has been recalled, I believe, twice for the fuel pump relay (campaigns r09 or p54) . On June 21, 2021 I scheduled an appointment with my local world Chrysler Dodge Jeep store to have the recall performed. For approxmimately 1 month, other than sluggishness, the car functioned normally. In the July, the car began stalling for no reason again. The recall performed on the vehicle has not corrected the issue with the fuel pump relay. I had once incident in June 2021 where the car stalled in the middle of an intersection and I was in serious danger of being hit by other vehicles travelling toward my car. I was fortunate that there were a few people who pushed my car off to the side of the road. This past week alone, my car has had three incidences when I start the car, the engine turns over, and then immediately stalls. You cannot immediately restart because the engine will just crank, but not turn over. You must wait a few minutes before you can restart the vehicle. There are the same issues I was experiencing before the new relay pumb was replaced. In my opinion, in addition to the stalling, the new relay has made my car run very sluggish. It is not very responsive when pressing my foot on the gas pedal, it bogs down first, and then it begins to respond. It has been dangerous when I am trying to enter a busy roadway and need the vehicle to go quickly so I can merge in to traffic. It just bogs down. This is not just a one time incident, the car has stalled at least 5 times since the replacement in June 2021. Today alone, August 28, 2021 it started/stalled twice. No inspection of the component has been done. I tried to get a second new replacement but was told that too many people were on the waiting list, and there weren't enough new parts to redo the work already done on my vehicle. No warning lights of any kind come on and there are no other symptoms of the proble before it occurs. No one has been able to reproduce the problem.

Since I purchased this vehicle in January 2020 11th, it drove like it had bad gas in it. It wanted to go when I accelerated but slow to move. I was not told by the dealer nor given car fax about the recall and the dangerous it could pose to me and my family. I had a leak, which had to do with transmission and I repaired it out of our own expenses bc it wasnt covered. It also stopped turning on as well. My husband was visiting his sister, and it cut off while coming onto the on the ramp of a local street. Exactly what the recall said as notified in December 2020 happened while in motion on a busy road. I am thankful it was my husband and not me and my three young children. That day was January 1st 2021, the car was towed to my home, aaa only allows one tow. And gate of dealership was closed. It is still there. And I was told it was on back order the part and wont be in until February. I am without a loaner as well as a rent a car. Unfortunately the dealership in my home wont have the part until febuary and I already drove to the dealer I purchased from over 100 miles away 2x since our pruchase and its not safe to drive.

After my vehicle stalled while driving as stated by the prior recall, I have had the same problem as though my car will just stop running at any time. It is quite scary to think that I am driving a 'fixed' car and am experiencing the same problems as before. My car now unlocks and locks as well, which is a huge safety concern because I cannot keep safely any personal information in my vehicle or prevent it from being broken into. The intial recall repair did not fix the underlying problem. I am waiting for it to stall out.

My Durango started to spurter around 30 mph and again at around 50 mph. It also seem to not have to power to get the Durango to get up and go it seem to lag and not have the power. I am not understanding why there is no replacement for the recall parts for this vehicle. Back in 2018 I had to get the vehicle looked at and they said there is no new product to replace the recall part and here we are in 2020 and still Dodge has nothing to replace the bad part with. I am having to purchase the part that is not working and replace it with a new bad part. Dodge it is time to get it together and fix it.

My vehicle get stall once on a while it takes a few turns to get it started it it happened three times already.

Durango has stalled at high speeds. While slowing down at lower speeds, the vehicle will, on occasion, start to stall as it sort of rumbles and shakes. Now the Durango will not start. All symptoms seem to align with known recall issues, however, recall repair is not yet available. Has been symptomatic since April 2019 until present. I have taken this problem to the Dodge dealership for diagnosis and repair. They are unable to replicate the issue but were able to run up a bill of $3000 for items that did not fix the issue. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and worry about having a total power failure while at high speed.

A safety recall, NHTSA 19v-813, was issused in November 2019 and it is June 2020. Speaking with a Dodge recall rep today, they dont know when it will be available. When I quoted their website that indicated the owner will be provided an interim repair, the rep informed that I would have to take it in to the dealership to have it diagnosed so that they could escalate it but still didnt couldnt tell me if I would receive an interim repair and what that might be. On top of that, I would have to pay for the diagnosis to eslcalate it for a known recall. This vehicle stalls and shuts down at any speed or when I hit a bump in the road.

Recall v62 has been partially repaired twice. My vehicle continues to shut off while driving- always when I am going down the road with my children in the car and randomly shuts off- I lose power steering and have to hope that it doesn't cause an accident. I have complained about this and nothing has been solved yet. This issue happens all the time- no specific day- everyday. Please address.

I purchased a 2013 Dodge Durango from new smyrna beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep at the end of July 2018. The morning after we purchased it the car wasn't acting right and wouldn't start. After having my vehicle up there until the end of August they finally replace the fuel relay pump. I got a letter saying that there's a recall on the vehicle and the part that was put in was a part of the recall. My vehicle started acting funny and doing the same things that it did less than two years ago. It's been struggling to start and I have video of it from from less than two years ago and now doing the same thing. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership and they told me that my battery was dead and they couldn't do anything until I replaced it. My battery was not dead when I left my house and this is what the recall does it drains the battery. I was almost in an accident less than two weeks ago when my car stalled while I was driving home with my four children in the car. The dealership made me purchase a new battery and are asking me to get an authorization from Chrysler to cover the charge and the part of I have to now pay for that too. I looked my car up and it's showing other recalls as well. I reached out to gibs law firm because they have a huge class action suit because of my same issue. My family is struggling and my husband is missing work because we don't have our vehicle.

Truck as stall a couple of times and starting up properly. The Dodge dealer is saying there is no remedy for this or there are no parts to fix this issue. This has stall in motion and stationary. In my drive way and on a city street.

Stalling while vehicle is in motion and now the vehicle won't start at all. Loss of power when it stalled.

Car shut off in middle of road while driving. I was stuck in the middle of the road. Luckily, I was on a secondary road and not on a major highway as I normally am. This put my safety as well as the safety of my family at risk. Car would not restart and could not be moved out of the road. Appears to be related to NHTSA recall 19v-813. No remedy is available. Dodge wants me to have the car towed at my cost to a local dealership. My husband tried to replace relay but part given by auto store doesn't match up exactly. Recall was from 11/14/2019. Why has the remedy not been released? will it take a death for someone to take this seriously? I do not feel that I should have to pay to have the car towed and diagnosed.

My car stalled on the highway and eventually would not start. Nov 18th I was made aware of a recall ro9 which caused the issue . I waited for the backordered part unit the 29th incurring rental car costs. Nov 14th another recall was issues v62 for same problem. Related to the par they installed on by car the 29th. I also cannot be reimbursed for my rental until the par for the first recall is available and it is under development . I am forced to drive a unsafe car with the potential to cut out on the highway with no remedy and no eta on that fix. My last stall on the highway almost caused a serious injury. .

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that on several occasions the engine would crank but would not immediately start. The contact indicated that the failure had gotten progressively worst and engine would not start at all. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified. The local dealer findlay Chrysler/Dodge(10305 us 224 west. Findlay OH) was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA campaign number 19v813000(fuel system ) but the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 110,000. Jft.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango rwd. The contact stated that while having a emission test performed it was informed that the check engine light indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer(courtesy Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 1890 dogwood dr se, conyers, GA 30013 (678) 210-2489) where a diagnoses test was preformed and determined that the (evap)( vacuum seal) failed and need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, has now experienced oil leaking. The contact attempted to take the vehicle back to the dealer but was unable to have the vehicle repaired. The contact mentioned that while driving at various speed the vehicle loses power and sezed without warning. The vehicle at this time was taken to a different dealer (ginn Chrysler Jeep Dodge 5190 us-278, covington, GA 30014 (770) 679-2202) where a 2nd diagnoses test was performed and determined that the oil filter was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to contact NHTSA to place a complaint. The failure mileage was approximenlty 227,118. Ck.

I was driving and braking for a stop sign and the vehicle started to jolt. I pulled in to the garage and the vehicle shut off on its own. I went to restart it and it would turn over but would not start. I tried again later that night, and it started again.

The vehicle has shut off while driving a few times. Had to start it back up. Once, it shut off then turned right back on. No lights on, warnings nothing.

Same as Feb 2015 recall. Fuel relay replaced June 2019. As of July 9 2019 back in shop for tipm issues and replacement. After 4 days and a 3hr diagnostic study it was determined that the timp would need to be replaced and possible other modules. Vehicle originally had starting problem. Once fuel relay was replaced that ended. Then vehicle started but all dash lighting and error messages started flashing stating fcw was off, showed hill ascent indicator, showed brake indicator neither were on, showed service engine indicator and others. Wipers would randomly swipe even though they were off. Warning bell would randomly ding as if the seat belt was not fastened. It was. Headlights would randomly flash and the doors would unlock (this problem has been happening for 3-4 yrs but service would say to check key fob battery or possible interference of something else. Did drive vehicle to work approx 4 miles and home the first day of problem. Next day vehicle went straight to dealership approx 8 miles away. Still there 4 days later. Not repaired. Apparently my VIN is not part of original recall and now I will have to pay a minimum of $1560. 00 for repairs in addition to the $472. 00 I spent on the fuel relay.

I was driving in some pretty hard rain going about 60mph. I slowed the car down to about 40 and when attempting to accelerate again the car would not accelerate. The vehicle then seemed to stall and lose both breaks and steering. I was on a hill so it was very scary. I was able to pump the emergency break and get the vehicle to stop. Something is wrong with this vehicle causing it to not accelerate, then lose power and breaks. I was reading an issue with the alternator may be the case but I am not sure how that would cause loss of breaks. Also my dealership states they already fixed the alternator recall on this vehicle.

Upon trying to start my vehicle it starts tries to start but seems it is not getting fuel to actually turn the motor. This happens several times and then it will start. Once already I was driving down the road when the vehicle started sputtering like it wasn't getting enough fuel. Then it shut down suddenly in the middle of the road. I was almost rear ended by another vehicle, they had to run off the side of the road to keep from hitting me. After several tries to restart the vehicle I let it sit for about 5 minutes and then tried to restart it again. It restarted and I was able to drive the rest of the way home. Had I been in an accident it would have been very bad as I had a box of honeybees in the back of the vehicle. I am unable to recreate the issues to show anyone else. Although I finally had a family member witness the cranking of the car issue. As it happened again today 03-28-19.

Vehicle is having issues starting while parked. I have seen that 2012 - 2013 Dodge Durango's do have a active recall from chrylser on certain models for the tipm. The issues stems from the cars inability to start due to the tipm not providing fuel when attempting to start. The starter is attempting to start the vehicle but it does not fully turn over. .
