1 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2021

The tail light track across the tailgate continues to take on water. I first had it replaced in April 2018 at which point I was told that it's about $1300 fix but was covered under my warranty. Fast forward and early 2020, replacement has same issue with condensation. It was replaced again and I was told if there were any issues that I would be paying out of pocket as I was past the original 2 year warranty replacement. It is now a year later and the 2nd replacement is having the same issue. This is three taillight fixtures having the same issue. Dodge needs to pay for this. Essentially I'd be paying $1300 every two years to replace at this point or have burnt out electric components because of the water. A $40k vehicle with 64,000 miles on it.

4 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2020

The center part of the racetrack tail light leaks and the water can and will cause the light to fail. Chrysler knows of the issue and it is happening in large numbers on the 2014 to current Dodge Durango. The replacement of the part is over $1,000 us dollars and yet they will not recall the vehicles to make it right instead they use it as a money pit. The light can leak if the vehicle is stationary or moving in wet weather and simply washing the vehicle will cause water to stand in the housing. The lights have been known to go out completely going down the road along with the license plate lights causing a dangerous situation. Please help us hard working people out and make Chrysler accountable for this poorly sealed design because that much money isn't easy to come by these days.

The racetrack tail light is not airtight so water gets inside the lamp. This caused an electrical short on the led boards and smoke filled my car. The old lamp was intermittently lit before going completely out.

28 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2019

Add mine to the many complaints about water getting into the tail lights that are in the hatch. Also known as race track tail light. There is a bug inside as well so the gap in this "sealed" unit must be huge. You can see the mosquito in img_6163. Jpg. Also have trouble with water getting in the drivers side headlight about a year ago. I purchased this vehicle new and it has never been in an accident. This is an obvious safety issue when the water starts clouding the lens and/or starts shorting out the bulbs. These issues are not covered by the lifetime maxcare warranty. I tried uploading 4 photos. Hopefeully you got them all.

30 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

The rear racetrack lights keep taking on water! if I recall water and electricity don't mix! this was one of the selling features that caught my eye to buy this vehicle. But apparently this is a big problem with these lights and an expensive fix if it burns out. The tail light is fused with the plate light. So if the fuse blows you have no plate light which in my state is illegal. If the lights are out, there really isn't much illumination in the rear. I could easily get rear ended at night or cloudy out.

The racetrack tail light will fill with water during a rain storm causing the rear running light to go out. This could pose a serious safety issue if the running lights go out at night.
