My "clockspring" wiring harness that controls power to the driver-sdie airbag, horn, and cruise control has failed on my 1999 Dodge grand cavan (~45,000 miles) VIN 1b4gp44l3xb886901. This is a safety issue and a clearly defective part that is involved in other recalls, yet Chrysler will not replace the part for free.
Clockspring failure at 99,400 miles. It's been recalled 1996 - 1998 and 2001 - 2002 and 1999 Dodge durango's have all been recalled. Westport Dodge refused to fix under recall or warranty. It's a safety issue as the horn and air bag don't work. Cruse is out but not a safety hazard. Dodge should be required to fix as almost all vehicles I searched have this problem and it's the result of a manufacturing defect (it was put togather wrong, causing the failure).
While driving 25 mph the vehicle went over a pot hole and both front air bags deployed. The front passenger's side axle also broke.
The vehicle experienced a problem with the air bag, there was a recall regarding the issue, # 02 v 293 000, however the vehicle identification number was not included.
While traveling at30-35 mph on gravel roads driver's and passenger's air bags deployed without any warning. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything.
While driving at 35 mph vehicle in front suddenly stopped and consumer rear ended the other vehicle. Front hood went under the other car, and none of the airbags deployed. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further information.
1999 caravan air bags deployed when the consumer was rear ended. The air bags should only have deployed during a frontal collision, however the manufacturer wrote the consumer explaining, that based on their inspection, it was revealed the vehicle had severe damage to the undercarriage that would cause the air bag to deploy.
