The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 04v480000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
While driving with the cruise control set on 72 mph vehicle accelerated up to 94 mph. Consumer disengaged the cruise control. However, vehicle continued to accelerate. As a result, consumer turned the vehicle off, and took the key out of the ignition. The vehicle finally stopped. No impact reported.
