2 Speed Control Cable problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2001

The gas pedal broke off from the accelerator cable while we going 65 mph and my son had to drive to safty by reaching down to the floorboard and pulling the cable while trying to steer the van, as we were in a construction zone and there was no where to pull over. This seems like a very unsafe problem.
