While driving on city street (between 20 and 30 mph) the vehicle engine shut off. The power steering and power brakes also stopped making the vehicle difficult to stop or maneuver to a safe stopping location. There was no warning of a failure and the only indication was the traction control/stability dash indicator. After the vehicle was stopped it was placed in park and restarted, then drove fine. There were still no indications of a failure (cel or ses light). No diagnostic codes were stored on the computer. Because this happens completely unexpected, if it were to occur while going around a curve or in an intersection there is a safety concern.
In June had the tipm replaced as it was causing the horn to go off and stay on, the wipers to go off and stay on and other electical issues. These symptoms returned in the last month (I was traveling during the return of the issues) and this time, about two weeks ago, while doing 55mph down a secondary highway, the car's horn and wipers came on and the car completely shut off - the engine shut down. The dealer replaced the tipm again.
Engine shuts off while driving!!! dangerous situation if I was going faster I could have crashed with my 7 year old daughter in the car. Isn't this the same thing that happened to gm and they had lawsuits? respond please: iteachhs2@gmail. Com.
The engine shuts off while driving down the road. This has happened several times. I must coast to a stop and restart the engine.
There is a current recall on our vehicle, the l25 win module detention ring. The vehicles key can move into the accessory mode and the car shuts off, no power steering, no bower brakes, no airbag etc. Vehicle just rolls to a stop. This has happened 5 times while my wife is driving the car with our 3 children inside. This is extremely dangerous for my family and others on the roadway. Dodge does not have the part to fix my vehicle and can not tell me when this part will come available. They are not willing to do anything for me and just tell me they understand my situation and they are sorry. I'm told by Dodge customer service, 800-334-9200 that they have been aware of this problem since 2011. I would hope that you can follow up with Dodge as this is a huge safety concern.
They did not open in 3 van wreaks - the faulty tipm fuse boxes were put in at the factory (reconditioned fuse boxes) Dodge has admitted to this in the Dodge durango's. There are many many more models in the Chrysler/Dodge group of cars and trucks with this same problem but they are making money hand over fist at their repair shops so why fix it there is a easy fix they are not telling you about, the capacitors in your car,van or truck are over loading to fix all you have to do is disconnect the battery both the negative and positive sides for 24 the fist time, then 3 hours, then again each time for 1 hour when you see a faulty light come on or lights on you dash panel flashing or your engine shuts off while driving. This should clear up after 3 times of doing this. This worked for me my van does not shut off anymore,no more dash lights flashing. You may have to do this more than 3 times ?. But it works has been over a year now. Happen while driving and sitting still.
2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Consumer requests reimbursement for wireless ignition node module detents recall repairs. The consumer stated the vehicle shut off, while in the midst of driving. The crankshaft position sensor was replaced.
As I was driving home from the store this morning, I was taking a turn onto my street when the engine shut off and I lost power steering and brakes. I was barely able to muscle the steering wheel to complete the rest of the turn and avoid hitting another car that was turning to go the way that I was coming from. The lady in the other car was looking at me in fear with her arms raised like "what are you doing!?" I tried to turn the engine on several times with no luck as I coasted down my street forcefully pumping the brakes to slow down and stop in front of my house. Once I took the key out of the ignition and tried to restart the engine, it started. I did some research on the internet and this seems to be a problem with other models as well. There is even a recall on Dodge Grand Caravans that were manufactured from 3 August 2009 to 17 June 2010 for this exact problem. I have read on this website and many others that this issue exists outside these dates though and that the Dodge company is not doing anything. I have not consulted with my dealership yet but I am hopeful because they seem to be great people. Whatever the case, I do not feel safe having my wife drive my children around. I do not feel as if she would be able to muscle the steering wheel without power steering during a turn in the event that the car turned off in the middle of a turn as it did to me. This is a huge safety issue and there should be a recall issued to encompass all the years that are affected and not just the ones where people have been killed.
Driving down normal road when car shut down, engine died. Was able to pull over and restart the car. This same event has happened three times.
The van has shut off while driving approximately 7 times in the last year. The engine shuts off and there is no power to the brakes or steering. There are no error lights that display on the dash. Once the car is stopped and placed in park the engine is able to be restarted. There is a big safety concern when this happens. It appears that there is a recall on a similiar issue on the 2010 caravan with the vehicle shutting off while driving. I have also researched the problem and found that there have been alot of the same complaints from consumers owning a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Is there going to be a recall on my van for this problem? thank you.
