My father has a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and on may 14 2014 he went shopping stopping at 3 different places and then returned home picked up the mail and drove to the top of the driveway. He put the van in park and shut it off he got out and walked over to my mom and handed her the paper then he turned around and walked back to the car and reached over the seat to get the rest of the mail when the car started rolling backwards dragging him with it for around 30 feet and then hitting the porch on the house next door. He was pinned underneath the vehicle and my son was home at the time and called 911. The fire department and ambulances came and they had to use air bag pumps and wooden blocks to get the car off of him. He was rushed to the hospital with a crushed leg and cuts to the bone. He had to have surgery on his leg and he was in there for 4 days and then they sent him to a rehab for his injuries. Then he came home after 2 weeks and then 8 days after with the home health nurses checking on him and changing bandages it got a massive infection so he ended back in a different hospital for another surgery this time they removed all of his skin on his leg in the front on the affected areas to the bone and muscle. He now has a phony skin graft on the open holes that are at least a quarter of an inch deep and he has to go to the wound center once a week until further notice and also the home health nurses are now back every other day to keep an eye on it and change bandages my mother is so disgusted no one will listen to her we told the state police who came that day that the car was in park and after rolling back 30 feet was locked in park and would not come out but the steering wheel and tires were still turning. He admitted that yes there is something wrong with this car but that is as for as it went. Also when we called geico we told them the whole story.

Upon starting vehicle the fobik may not fully seated in "on" position. If not fully seated, the fobik could inadvertently move to "accessory" mode. This could unintended shut off the engine and passive restraint system, including airbag shut off. This could increase risk of crash under certain driving conditions and increase risk of occupant injury. Also, the wireless ignition node module may have unintentional movement of fobik. Two new fobik's are a part of recall procedure and will have to be replaced. Recall is a part of Chrysler notification codes: l25, r03.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2013

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan v6 3. 8l engine, 75k miles, vehicle has rear ac/heather blower option. The y heater hose, dealer part 4677603ak, in the engine compartment start leaking coolant at the ruber hose connection & the y pvc, coolant was dripping on the exhaust shield back of the engine close to the double wall. At that time I have have been in slow trafic for at least 30 min when I noticed a burning smell coming from engine compartment. I shut off the engine, but coolant was still keep dripping for a while, had the hood open and tried to vent out engine compartment preventing a fire under the hood. Home I replaced the bad heater hose with a new one purchased from napa auto parts, part no 16599.

The back passenger sliding door keeps opening and closing on it's own. The key fobs can be nowhere on our person and the door continually does this, even when locked. I have seen this complaint numerous times online. Something needs to be done. Our dog got into the van when the door was open and the door closed trapping her in there. Thank goodness my husband saw her and got her out before she died of heat exhaustion. If that had been a child, it could have had a very tragic ending. Please use whatever pull you have to make Dodge fix this problem before someone is hurt, maimed or killed!! thank you.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2013

Both of the wheel bearings were completely worn out, causing grinding, harsh road noise, and clicking when turning. The bearings assembly have been reengineered by Dodge but they are not issuing any recalls. Dodge is making you replace both hubs at the same time. Failure of the wheel bearing while driving on the interstate can cause the vehicle to have an accident.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2013

My wife and I were driving down the road, when the van started to lock and unlock the doors. The next time this happened my three kids were in the van and it was 85 degrees out and the only way we got in was to talk my son into trying to unbuckle his car seat. We have also had a problem with the ac not working witch is great when it is soo humid out. The doors still continue to lock and unlock by themselves at least once a week.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

The ignition fobik gets stuck in the socket forcing the car to stay in acc and exhausting the battery. The car can be restarted when this happens and after repeated attempts usually releases the fobik. This often involves forcibly shoving the transmission lever from d to p. I believe this is related to the l25 and r03 recalls as sometimes you can hear an electronic noise when the fobik is locked or released. My primary complaint is that I've called the dealer 4 times or so over the last year since l25 came out asking to fix the problem by fulfilling the recall. Each time the dealer, rainier Dodge, says they will order parts and get back to me, but never does. I will be calling again this week after problems over the weekend. I'm very dissatisfied with Chrysler's response to this potentially serious problem.

44 Equipment problem

The side sliding doors are not functioning properly. This is a safety issue and a recall is needed. The side sliding doors have reopen continuously on many occasions after we have closed & locked the doors. The doors have tried to close when we are getting in & out of the car & we have had to quickly open the door to make sure it did not close on us. The doors has failed to close completely they reopen on their own. I have observed this many times. This is a very dangerous situation & is not safe & can cause injury. Our vehicle can be easily stolen at anytime because the doors open randomly on their own. We have come out of the store, the mall, to find the doors open. My husband have been called out from work to lock his van door because the door reopened on its own. This problem is a nuisance. *** we have had this problem before & greenbrier Dodge said that it was the keys so they reprogrammed them. The problem has reoccurred & we have had our vehicle diagnosed again by greenbrier Dodge on 03-13-2013. They stated that the problem is the latch-sliding. We paid for the parts & labor out of pocket. . 03-20-2013, greenbrier Dodge replaced the latch. We realized after we left that the problem was not fixed. We returned to greenbrier Dodge & our service advisor observed the door opening & closing on its own. They checked the vehicle again. Our service advisor informed us that they don't know what the problem is. They will call Chrysler in the morning. 03-21-2013, received a phone call from our service advisor who told us they retook the door down & adjusted the latch. She wanted to keep the car in overnight to make sure that the door didn't open again. A recall needs to be done & Dodge customer assistance refused to assist with the repairs. We haven't had our van for 5 years yet & we purchased it new.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

There is a coolant leak coming from the y shaped diverter tube. The rubber has apparently been overheated due to its location over the hot engine. Many people have complained about this on forums. There needs to be a recall to have this replaced. The noxious smell of anitfreeze comes in through the vents, and smoke pours out from under the hood. Radiator is soon empty of all collant and the engine can overheat if not carefully watched. Coolant and water has to be constantly added in order to drive. This is clearly an issue with the placement of the tube over a hot engine and not insulating it well enough.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

The car was parked stationary at the top of a hill. It started to roll down the hill while it was off. Three children were in the car. Their brother tried to stop the car, and got caught under the car wheel, and died. The car was in park.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2012

I have noticed that the rear a/c blows hot air while it is set on the a/c position. At that time my kids; 2 years old, 5 years old where apprently sweating and did not know it was not normal while the 12 years old kept repeatedly saying it is warm here at the back. I inspected why it is warm and noticed that the rear ac blows warm air on a/c position while the front a/c is blowing cold air. First, I thought it is the rear a/c blend door but it is the "expansion valve" it has visible corrosion and it is located under the rear right wheel fender where it is subjected to dirt, salt and road debris. . . I think Dodge/Chrysler needs to fix these design issue since this could be a fatal issue if I did not know it and the older kid never complaint about it. Since then, I have only used the front ac and chryler charge a fortune to correct the issue. This is very dangerous situation if you are travelling on a long drive. It is the equivalent of leaving your child in a hot car on a warm days of summer specially in July. I hope we can consider this to be a recall.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2012

We were pulling out of the parking lot and after a couple hundred of yards the vehicle just turned off without warning and all control was lost. Although there was no accident we were alarmed because what if there was a car immediately behind us. After that incident this problem has occurred several times which I think is a safety issue. I hope this will be addressed by the manufacturer.

2008 Dodge caravan. Consumer writes in regards to a defective key fob. The consumer stated he currently has one key fob that works, and one that doesn't work, and it needs to be replaced. The dealer informed the consumer, they would not replace the key fob free of charge. The consumer was informed it would cost $250 for the key fob, plus to reprogram it.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2008

We bought this van new in April of 2008 and in August 2008 and with 16,000 miles I had to replace the brake rotors pads and one caliper. Then two months later I had to replace the rear brakes which included the rotors, pads, and calipers. In late 2009 I have to replace both front and back brake systems do to failure. Now it is septempber of 2014 and after replacing the brakes on both front and back axles 5 times there needing to be replaced again. I have taken the van to our local Dodge dealer and was told it's just hard driving. I had to replace the rear evaparator at 89,000 along with rubber heater lines that you can only buy as a set at over $120. 00. Now the right rear door can only be opened from the inside and the door locks only work sometimes. Went out 09-17-14 to move the van to my garage to work on it and all of the lights went out and the horn went off along with the wipers and wiper fluid pump. How long before someone is killed before they fix these issues. This is my last Chrysler product after owning 5 good ones. This is do to there inablity or negligence in fixing these problems.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2008

I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with 16,700 miles. Despite the fact that my brake pads were not ready to be changed, I had to replace the rotors in both front tires. I was having difficulty breaking at 35 mph. The van was driven only one half of a mile to the mechanics and the mechanic measured the temperature of the air near the front tires at 198 degrees f; the rear tires measured 140 degrees.
