Mileage: 100,000 the engine will cut out while driving. Dash lights will flash, warning chime will beep, and the vehicle will rev and lurch forward before dying. This leaves the car at a coast. When the vehicle is brought to a stop, it restarts without a problem. Has happened in cold and warm weather alike. . Has happened while coasting, braking, and accelerating. Most stalls have been while driving straight in the city. No highways stalls to date . Cause: unkown; we have not been able to reproduce the event reliably, though it now occurs with some frequency (e. G. Driving more than 20 min). I suspect the power control module (pcm) or the ignition switch somehow moving between on and accessory modes. Available data: issues similar to this one can be found on forums, it does not seem that many have been able to resolve the problem, despite replace the computer and alternator.

17 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

Car stalls while I am driving it. Took it to car dealer and it doesn't pop up with codes, so they say they can't figure out what is wrong. Head over mechanics drove it and he was driving it at 30 miles an hour and it turned off and he said he almost wrecked my car. Mechanic also duplicated it, but no codes, so they are saying they don't know what to fix. It is the only transportation I have, but is very dangerous to drive as when it stalls I have no power steering or brakes. I am at my wits end, because I have tried to reach Chrysler itself and all I get is customer service and they have a case open, but getting no results. I also have clunking in my transmission, but again no codes. I am at my wits end and don't know where to go from here. I can't afford to keep putting money in this car and it not get fixed. I still owe 5 years on this car also. I have had people riding in the car with me when it has happened. I am going to put a date at this end here, but not sure of when it first started happening, but know that the transmission started happening last year and told them about it and they said that was natural for that type of engine, but they hadn't even drove it.

After stopping at a stop sign she took off and was going approximately 35 mph when the vehicle abruptly stalled. She lost power steering and was able to get it stopped before going into the ditch. Had she been traveling faster she probably would have wrecked. She had my two year old with her and is currently 13 weeks pregnant.

While driving the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan it suddenly stalls. There does not appear to be a reason behind it, at least the dealer is unable to pinpoint it. It has happened 4 times, with the most recent being just after having it into the dealer where they replaced the battery and the battery cable and did an oil change, with a total cost of $325. However, they also said it may be the module that needs to be replaced at a cost of over $600. 00. However, they apparently do not know or just trying to run up the cost of repairing the vehicle. 25 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The vehicle stalls while driving between 30 and 35 mph. There is no warning and it just quits. When it does you lose all power steering and electrical systems. There is no rhyme or reason as to when this happens - it can be shortly after starting the morning drive or after you have been driving for 20 minutes. It also happens sporadically so it is very hard to determine if and when it will happen. We have had the car checked many times by the dealer where we purchased the vehicle and they have not been able to find anything. It has continued to stall sporadically over the past 5-6 months. We now see that there is a recall for 2010 Dodge caravans based on this faulty ignition switch, however the dealer informs us that our car is not included in the recall and there is nothing they can do.

The failure mileage was 77,431.

27 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2014

In the first drive of the day (no matter what time of the day) within 4 blocks of my home, the vehicle stalls while driving. This has so far happened 8 times over the last 9 months. This incident has occurred with 3 different drivers and in the same exact location 7 out of the 8 times. Vehicle is always coasting (not accelerating) around 20 miles per hour. When this incident occurs, the engine turns off, which disables the steering, brakes, and acceleration. This leaves the driver and its passengers in serious, potentially lethal, danger. We have taken this vehicle multiple times to the dealership, and they claim that this vehicle is not included in the recall. They state that there are no error codes.

31 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

Our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan, has been for the past 6 months been stalling sporadically. Today, it came to a head. We were 45 minutes north of our house and heading home. 10 minutes of driving to get to the freeway and 20 minutes on the freeway, in the center lane, 3 lanes wide, pouring outside, it is 8:50pm, and lightening out as well. Our minivan just died on the freeway, with a fair amount of traffic. We were able to pull over quickly as the minivan shook to a halt, we were going 70 miles per hour. Yesterday, when I tried starting it died right away, twice. The dealership knows about this as they see the minivan for this about every month, and they always say nothing comes up on the computer, nothing is wrong with it. I have complained to Chrysler about this. They say it is because it happens right after we have filled up with gas. Well, we didn't just fill up with gas today, and have only a half tank of gas, when this happened. Out of the countless times this has died on us, it has only died 2 times after filling up. There is no rhyme or reason when this happens, can be morning or afternoon, we rarely drive in the evening. Cold or hot days. Chrysler has said that this issue is related to the new key, and recalled it, well we have had that changed at least 3 times already.

Once the vehicle has come to a complete stop and been shifted into neutral or park, the vehicle can be restarted. Vehicle is a 2010 Grand Caravan sxt w/ the 4. 0l engine.
