Without warning the car completely shuts off. This is very dangerous because it happened on the freeway (luckily the cars slowed down behind me). It is intermittent and two different mechanics have not been able to detect the problem. Was there a recall on this issue? what can be done to make this vehicle safer to operate. This has been going on for about 2 years.
When attempting to start the vehicle, ignition key inadvertently moves into the "off" position, turning the engine off suddenly. If this safety issue occured while driving, it would depower various key systems including the airbags, power steering, and power braking. In the event of a crash following an accidental rotation of the key, the airbags would fail to deploy causing serious injury or death. The dealership is aware of this problem now and confirms this is a significant safety issue, but that their hands are tied unless crystler helps. L25 is the known safety recall for the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravans- build dates 3months less than ours- July 2010 verses oct. 2010. With our Dodge experiencing the same issue and safety concerns as the recalled ones, we then called crystler at (800) 853-1403 to report the issue and advocate for the repair and/or extension of the recall. An employee named myah said "there's nothing we can do b/c recall is VIN specific and doesn't show yours as being recalled for this issue". I asked to speak with a supervisor to further discuss how to get the recall extended to our VIN, as the same safety issue is occuring, and the rep was very dismissive and told me "they were sorry they could not help and "no one is available at this time". I told her I didn't mind waiting on hold so the issue could be properly reported and addressed with a supervisor. She put me on hold again and then said "a supervisor can call you when they are available", but then she did not even ask for my phone number. I do not trust that she was acting in our best interest and feel she was being negligant. No one has called back. Please help. We are writing to #1) inform you of this safety issue #2) inform you of the known recall to address this safety issue- does not currently extend to our manufacture month #3) report crystlers negligence in responding to this safety issue #4) to respectfully request a safety investigation should our VIN not be added to this.
Interior panel lights will dim and flicker, headlights dim, radio will lose power, cabin fans for air conditioning will slow then the engine dies. This can happen while idling or driving at highway speeds without warning. When the engine dies all power steering is lost and braking and control is extremely difficult. After stopping the gear shift will not move into park and the key will not move to the off position for several minutes. Diagnosis narrowed this down to the tipm. It was replaced and the issue stopped for 6 months then reoccurred. Tipm replacement again fixed the issue. Obviously the tipm's have a defect and has been widely reported. Major issue is that only remanufactured tipms are available from the same defective build. Dealer charges over $1000 for the part and more to install it. There should be a class action lawsuit on this obvious dangerous defect that has not been addressed by Dodge.
The engine shut off while driving. This has happened with my wife and myself over 20 times. I can shift it into neutral and restart the car. Sometimes it takes 2-3 times to start the car (again). One time I was going down a hill on a curve about 30mph and it shut down. I could barely turn the steering wheel manually to prevent me crossing the double yellow lines into another car. This could be very dangerous! I have not gotten around to taking it to a dealer 60 miles away. My car has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lights or messages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failures.

The contact stated that after shifting the gear into park(p) and turning off the vehicle, it was able to restart again. The contact stated that various unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel lines, spark plugs and throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition node (win) module needed to be replaced, and the contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was unavailable.

The engine on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt turned off while driving down the road. This has happened over 5 times in the past 2 weeks. In these several incidents, the vehicle was warmed up and was travelling anywhere between 20 mph and 45 mph when the engine just completely shut off, which forced me to coast to a stop, sometimes in traffic. The engine could then be restarted with no issues. This vehicle has been serviced for recall 14v-373 (regarding a faulty electronic ignition switch that could cause the vehicle to shut off without warning), but the problem described in recall 14v-373 seems to be recurring.
Engine has shut off while driving, van 2010 Dodge purchased used from dealership @ 98,000 miles less then a yr ago. While driving dinging noise can be heard all gages go crazy and all lights come on from dashboard. This has occurred many times, my biggest fear is causing an accident while my children are with me. Van was taken in for service at local dealership, after a week I was told that there was no issue with the van. The frustrating part is this problem is not constant, and I can go weeks without any problems. Two days after pick from dealership problems started up again. Maybe a second trip to the dealership will give me some answers. I shouldn't be afraid to drive my van, but every time I get behind the wheel that is what if feel. This single mom can't afford to replace the van.
While driving in the city or in a highway all lights and engine stops also the steering wheel and the breaks harding you hardly steer it to the side road to stop the vehicle after few yards depends on the vehicle speed. We ere lucky no body was behind us in many occasions, I had this issue a month after I bought it used from a dealer and they told it is fixed, and now it is back, I coinsider it danger to me and to other drivers on the road.
Driving down the road vehicle does and lose steering, brakes highway ,turning,in motion.
The van cut off on me while driving on a city street. . There was no warning ahead of time. At first I was told that it was an electrical issue but even after fixing that the van don't want to start back up. And now the second shop is saying that the engine is gone but I don't think that that's the issue because I had a diagnostic test 3 weeks before and it said nothing about a bad engine.
For the past couple years my van just turns off when I'm driving. Nobody can figure it out. Then my doors randomly open. This happens anywhere. Interstate or in town. Steering wheel locks up and I have to put in numeral and start. This happens daily.
When driving down the road it will without warning lose power and shut off. It has even had a problem where all the warning lights flash and the windshield wipers start, while the control is off.
For the pass year been having problems with the traction, bas, brake and esp lights coming on and sometimes losing temporarily power. Sometimes it dies and 90% of time have to reset the clock. If it doesn't die and I pull over and kill it and crank it back and the dash lights go off but most of time have to reset clock. Sometimes driving down highway, and in parking lots and sometimes backing out of my carport. . My foot usually on brake but a few times it wasnt. This is the short version on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan that has 180,000 miles.
The engine turns off while driving. It happens at any speed. When this happens, the esp indicator lights. When you coast to a stop and put the car in park, it will restart.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. When the key was removed from the ignition switch, the vehicle failed to shut down and the battery was disconnected. Additionally, the vehicle failed to start occasionally. Also, the bad key message was displayed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact called kelley sales & service (74 clinton st, springfield, vt 05156, (802) 885-2186, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 172,000.
The engine will turn off while driving and then nothing works. No air bags, no power steering, no power brakes. This happens frequently. This has happened while driving on city streets under 35 mph. At highway speeds this could be fatal.
A few weeks ago I had a problem with my ignition, and started to look information abount it. I found a recall for my vehicle (r3 / NHTSA 14v-373) where the remedy the win module and fobiks must be replaced. I called to palmer Dodge (770) 410-1111 (address: 11460 alpharetta hwy, roswell, GA 30076 - worker: luis) and made a appointment to fev-19 (today), and they told me that it will be replaced, but today they told me that they just will update the win module and it will be fine. The report say: the win module and fobiks must be replaced, so I don't fell good because they didn't fix the problem. I tried to contact recalls. Mopar. Com by chat, and they could not help me. I ask the palmer worker and he just say that update is enough, but the report says must be replaced.
My vehicle has stopped running while driving 3 days in a row which has caused close collisions. I have lost my trust in my "family safe van". I loose control of my power steering and have to pull over to the side of the road and put my vehicle in park/neutral and then restart it. I've read numerous online posts about this problem and I believe some of these models have already been recalled because of the ignition switch failing. I'm unhappy that the manufacturer hasn't done what they are supposed to do and contacted the consumer and reported this issue to them properly. This will cause accidents and isn't safe. I've read multiple posts online where the dealership/Dodge has informed multiple people that nothing is wrong with their vehicle because they can't replicate it. What ever happened that the customer is always right? please help me make sure Dodge takes care of this safety recall before it causes injury/death to multiple family's that this issue could happen to them when they least expect it because it is supposed to be a family safe vehicle. Sincerely, travis dusharm.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.
I have had to replace the catalytic converter 3 times already. I went this month to get a safety inspection and was told it is the catalytic converter again. Do you have a recall on catalytic converter for this vehicle?.
Often after starting the vehicle and in drive it will automatically shut off. I have to put in neutral and turn ignition over again to make it drive again. This happens at stop lights, city streets and expressways. The radio and air will still work but I'm just coasting with no power steering.
While driving, the engine suddenly shuts off. This happens at various different speeds and occurs multiple times per day.

My Dodge Grand Caravan, 2010, has started cutting off on me while driving. My stabilizer light comes on, rpms drop to 0, and I lose my power steering along with low break reaction. I feel this is very unsafe. I have changed several sensors to no avail. I started doing research and found that they have safety recall l25. Called my local Dodge dealership to set up the repair, only to find out my van was not included in the recall, even though it is in the alotted years (2008-2010). What am I supposed to do. This could easily cause a wreck.

The vehicle has shut down while driving about 15 times over the last 2 years. While driving, usually at slower speeds but once on the freeway and a few times at about 45 mph, the abs light comes on and then everything shuts off -- engine, power steering, brakes -- everything. It is a miracle it hasn't killed us yet. We have taken it to the dealer several times and they can not replicate it or find any code that is the problem. It is not the ignition recall as we have had that fixed. During my research I have found that this is a problem with this vehicle.
Sudden loss of engine, power steering and brakes while vehicle is in motion. Happens at low and high speeds, driving straight and when turning. All electrical components remain operational. Dealer unable to duplicate.
While operating vehicle the engine quits running and the vehicle becomes hard to handle as power steering and brakes become stiff. The only code that comes up is an abs failure. Started about 6 months ago with an occasional happening now it has happened up to 3 times per day. Seems to happen at slower speeds when vehicle is in motion. City driving so far but concerned about safety of this continuing. Dealer seems to have no clue at this point or are just playing dumb because there are a lot of forums with people discussing this issue.
Van started and key stuck, then when the key get finally removed the engine stay on and won't shut off unless remove cables from battery. When the battery cables are connected again the engine start by itself without a key or the ignition is on without the key and the only way to shut off the van or to turn off the ignition is to disconnect the cables from the battery or it stays on or won't shut off. Running the battery out and your gas tank empty.
The heater hose y pipe is defective. It's made of plastic, and it lasted less than 5 years before it burst at the seams and sprayed coolant all over the engine compartment when my wife and four children were driving on the highway, leaving them stranded. There was absolutely no warning before it burst, and there is no maintenance that will prevent this from happening. The part is defective, and this is a common problem with these Dodge models. An internet search shows that this problem is happening everywhere.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after numerous times. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who stated that the tipm needed to be replaced; however, the part was unavailable to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Key went from on position to accessory while car was stopped at red light. We were able to restart and continue on our way. This could have easily caused a crash if the car were still moving in traffic.
While driving my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, on numerous occasions, I have lost all power leading to the inability to steer. Last event, I was in a round about and, switching into neutral, was barely able to prevent a crash. I have nothing attached to my key fob. This is the known ignition problem and I find it unacceptable that Chrysler thinks it is ok to wait until August to fix this. This is extremely dangerous. I do not have the means to get a new vehicle and with 2 young children, this is extremely dangerous. Please force them to move faster to correct this problem!!.
