Failure Date: 12/09/2019

I have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 4. 0 liter motor, 6 speed automatic transmission. My van just passed 119,000 miles and it just started to shut off while driving at speeds between 30-40 mph, on city streets. This is a major concern as I transport my children around. I have not been in an accident and I hope not to anytime soon. I've been reading forums online and many Chrysler owners are saying it could be anything from the egr valve, to the ignition switch and even bad battery. My check engine light is not on so no codes to decode. Please fix this major problem before people get hurt driving these vehicles.

6 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

Two years ago there was a recall on the 2009-2010 Dodge caravans for the ignition switch turning off while the vehicle was being driven. I was told that my van was not a part of that recall, however there have been 5 instances where I have been driving in a parking lot or down a neighbor street when the van's engine just turns off and I loose stirring and braking ability. This morning when I was pulling out into traffic onto a main road this occurred again, but this time I was in danger and almost hit by several cars. The only way I can get the van to restart is to put it in park and try and start it. It usually takes to or 3 times before it will start, it seems to get stuck and the engine keeps trying to start until finally it will start and I can get it moving again. This van is the main vehicle for our family and after this morning I m in fear of my life and the lives of my children. Please look into this and help me get this fixed by the manufacturer. The number of impacted vehicles is greater than the recall they did a few years ago.

7 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

We have been experiencing intermittent issues with our van not starting or stalling for no reason. We are also having issues with our key fob working to lock and unlock doors intermittently. This does not happen every day and cannot be predicted but appears to be related to the ignition switch. We have taken it for service and replaced batteries in key fobs. However, the issues have not been replicated during service. Our van was not included in the ignition recall. We would like to request reconsideration.

25 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

After placing shifting lever in park, stepping on the emergency brake I tried to remove ignition key and it would not come out. I doubled check to make sure I was placing in the off position. Placed shifter lever in various postions and then back into park and the key still would not come out. Sat there for about 5-10 minutes and then the key finally came out. Took to dealership and they could not dulicate issue but dealership lubricated the ignition cylinder and it seemed to help. Then it happened again about 6 months later and I again took to the same Dodge dealer (rockwall Dodge in rockwall TX 75189). They removed the ignition key and removed a spring or replaced a spring and stated this should fix it. However, over the last several months it is doing the same thing. . . Ignition switch stuck. I am afraid someday I will not be able to turn engine off or get key out. Have others had this problem?.
