Van will bog down and then just shut off. Will also take 5-6 times before it will restart. The electrical goes haywire randomly. Found out the tipm is bad and there was a recall on other vehicles doing the same exact thing during the same years.
Takata recall. 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. We bought it in June 2018 . . Problems began in jily 2018. It began with tire sensor light coming on and staying on but no issues. . . . Then advanced to not starting at all. . Evaluation resulting in several towing bills even after 2 new fuel pumps put in. . Then a fuel pump relay. Ran for a while and continued to shut power off while driving on highways, back rds. No warning lights just shut off. More towing costs. Very dangerous situations due to no warning and while driving when vehicle just off. Now u understanding numerous Dodge Grand Caravans dealing w same issues and refusing recall. . . Putting lives at high risk especially w a special needs in vehicle, my little kids and kids scout friends. Its currently unable to safely drive due to its unexpected shut off while driving.
Severe electrical issue with engine shutdown while driving on highway, stalls at intersections after dash lights "go crazy," no-start, all dash lights on/off, wipers randomly going on, doors and windows inoperable, killing new batteries, brake light sporadically functional, and a/c in rear randomly changes settings. These incidents occur at random periods with no specific causation.

The failure also caused the doors to lock on their own. The contact also stated that the failed tipm drained the vehicle battery and every time they attempted to drive they would have to disconnect and connect the battery in order for the battery to function properly. The van's engine shutdown while my wife was driving the van at night and barely had enough time to pull to the side of the road before losing control of steering. She had just made a right turn onto the highway. Towed the van to a local dealer and found the issue to be the diode on the alternator failing causing electrical feedback to the powertrain control module (pcm). So had to spend a lot of money to have the alternator and pcm replaced. I am aware other vehicle lines of 2011 have a recall for this specific issue and am unsure why the Dodge Grand Caravan is not on the list. There needs to be an investigation and have this vehicle added to the recall.
As I am driving the car just shuts off with no warning. It has happened multiple times both on the highway and in town. I lose instrumentation, power steering, and power brakes. I have had to glied to a stop and try and restart the vehicle.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving at any speed, the engine shut off without warning. The vehicle restarted after a few minutes and was taken to haasz automall of ravenna (4886 OH-59, ravenna, OH 44266, 330-296-2866) where the technician stated that there was no recall. A diagnostic test was performed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The technician recommended a more extensive test, but the contact declined to pay the high cost for the test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
My van does not always start. --when parked in driveway or parking lot; no difference if flat or hill or anything. Some days it starts with out any problems, other days it will not start ever--it might start at 8am, not at 11am, but work for a week. . . No pattern. I have had it to the show 3 times in the last 3 months--each time it stayed for more than 3 days. They thought battery; bought a new battery. Next day, no start. Only warning light was key battery low--so they changed that (even though I had already done that). Next day, no start and same low key bat warning. Then it would be fine for a few days. . . And again random start or no starts. The last time the red "electronic throttle control" light was on--it shuts off after a few seconds. Sometimes, when it doesn't want to, but then does start, it acts like it wants to shut down while I am driving. It will sputter and seem like it wants to shut off. The folks at the garage are completely perplexed by this and have offered to come to my house/work the next time to see it bc it doesn't always do it for them--we think because if I jump it, it does a temporary fix. But, they also warn based on over charging/shocking a good battery. Anything we google says to be careful driving and get to shop. . . Well shop can't figure it out. I have heard about a few recalls for ignition and keys, and I have a call in to the dealership about this. I am worried that I will be stuck out with my kids; end up crashing with my kids; or with the bad weather coming, we will have either of them happen and be stuck in the snow.
I was driving approximately 30 mph and the vehicle just shut down, the powering steering went out and the engine stalled which we later found out was due to the faulty tipm. We had also been having a few issues with the fuel pump. . . . . The fuel pump was not shutting off and all lead to problems with being able to start the vehicle sometimes it took several attempts to even get vehicle started.
Well from the time I purchased the car I told the dealer about the ignition. The car speeding off while I'm driving in a regular street or highway. The warning lights doesn't warn . Enough is enough. Riding in the car in street yesterday once again the steering wheel locked in me in traffic and it shut down. No warning. So dangerous. There is no way there should be so many complaints about the same issues and they not have a recall and repairs . My alternator actually fried and we could have been killed along with my children!!!! I'm scared. Im paying $500. 00 dollars a month for a vehicle that is sitting and I can't drive. Please give hello me to get justice.
