Electronic Stability Control Problems of Dodge Grand Caravan - part 1

October 8,2020 I was driving straight down hill on a city street in puyallup, wa when the car completely shut down without warning. I had no steering, brakes, or anyway to control the vehicle. I managed to coast into a nearby lowes hardware parking lot and ran into a barrier in order to stop. I was lucky there were no people or other cars in my path of travel when I entered as I was unable to stop. I called my insurer, geici, and arranged for the vehicle to be towed. Towing was performed by engels towing , puyallup, wa (253) 845-0034. Checking online I discovered that this is a known problem with the fuel pump and no recall has been issued. I believe that this is a serious safety issue. I, my family, or others could have been seriouly injured or killed.

Just more and more problems with this van. Every person who purchased this van deserve their money back! I am so sick of wasting my money on this van. The braking system is horrible, transmission slips, stalls when it wants, or just doesnt start. And what is going on with the senors?? like come on you guys know this "family" van is not safe!!!!!! recall the whole damn van all this has happened over the years of me having this van.

1st problem erratic ignition stalling while in park. Battery was replaced and taken to shop, the auto technician assumed based on p0128 p0520 p0441 it was gas fuel cap, switch oil pressure, housing thermostat, gasket intake manifold they replaced O2 sensors vacuum line read a sensor with evapo system causing check engine light came on and a host of other items checked gas cap totaled me $779. Car refuse to started next mornings for pass two weeks every morning several attempts to start car after parked overnight no start only stalling first. Then waited an hour put car in neutral see if car starts it did. After driving that day while driving car acceleration began to go fast by itself on a highway then jerk rpm dropped down while driving my children in the car. I thought maybe gear was out of place so I looked to see if it was in drive, it was in drive. Went back to auto shop they said since car is working now can't hook up system to check p codes because it won't show up if it's working. Told me drive 60 miles to see prob continue. Next morning car didn't start, no fuse signal shows. Then car was dead one click sound ,no stall. Called roadside assist and tried to jump battery. Guy said it's not battery he said it's the fuel pump. Contacted the auto mechanic spoke with mgr of shop and said it can be a tipm and cost $1200. This is a very unstable and unsafe issue my family and I drive in this van don't feel safe 2nd issue car hesitated to stop two months ago when I pressed the brakes to stop car while driving on road to stop at red light, no stop I had to pump brakes and I thought it was brakes I paid for replacement of brakes and pads as well. This electrical module has been the cause of known incidents. It can cause accidents. The van is dangerous safety hazard. Tipm and electrical system is creating unsafe braking and ignition fuel conditions causing malfunction.

While driving on the highway my van lost all power and shut off. No steering, nothing. We pulled over on a ramp putting our children's lives and our own in danger, to walk home. The tipm seems to be the problem. The van will not restart, will not crank, and is currently sitting while I see all of the recall attempts for tipms.

Doors won't open or unlock with key fob, roof panel buttons or manually. This happens randomly. Back sliding doors will also randomly open when van is parked and turned off.

The sliding power door make laud noise when closing and opens itself , I check the problem online and I noticed it is common problem , I wonder if there was a recall ?.

When driving down the road it will without warning lose power and shut off. It has even had a problem where all the warning lights flash and the windshield wipers start, while the control is off.

I loaded all of my children in my van to go do a walmart pick up. All of the doors were working fine. We got home from doing our pick up, and the back driver side door would not open. All of the children had to get out of the other side, and climb over a baby car seat. We tried to get the door open from the inside, and the outside, we tried to disengage the locks, but it seems as though they are permanently stuck. If I get into a wreck, this is a safety hazard. Simultaneously, the door on the passenger side in the back will not lock at all. These are both hazards which should be recalled, and fixed immediately! I believe it has something to do with the electrical system, however I am no mechanic. I am not the only one who has had this problem, I have been researching the problem and there are many. I just want to drive a car that is safe for my children, and my van has less than 50k miles on it, I bought it brand new off of the lot. This should not be a problem I am experiencing.

The electric controls are going haywire when van is turned on nothing will function than the rear defroster comes on nothing else works then the air comes on and cool air on drivers side heat on passenger side then some cool then heat and I have a lighting bolt simble on the dash and van was hit head on while park and the air bags did not deploy.

Passanger side rear sliding door started makeing a buzzing noise when locking and unlocking. Did some research on the web and found out it is a common problem for the accuator to stick or malfunction, and now the buzzing stoped and the lock is stuck in the lock position and will not move. I feel it is a safety issue with 3 young children in the car and god forbid and accident occurs I want to get my kids out quickly and safely. . . . . . . So say I get t boned on drivers side and passenger door won't unlock or open. . . . . Looks like my wife is crawling through the center with 2 carseats or out the back. . . . Let's get this fixed before it kills someone.

Vehicle seized up and stalled during driving. Previous cranks but won't start 1 year many times. Did a relay bypass wire to start vehicle. Transmission problems and not acceleration.

Sliding passenger doors on both sides of van refuse to open or unlock. Doors cannot be opened manually, with key fob or with the button on the interior of the car. This prevents passengers in rear (usually children) from being able to exit the vehicle, which could be particularly dangerous in the event of a crash.

Driving on highway at 70mph. The car turned off and the "traction control" idiot light turned on. I managed to struggle to get it over to the side of the highway (I-294 in chicago is not easy!) and put the car in park. With the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on our trip. This is the 3rd time this has happened since November 2019.

My ac went out only in the front 1/3 of the van about 3 months ago and started to have a slight buzzing sound under my dash a couple weeks ago when any electrical device is plugged into an outlet or the ac is turned on.

This has caused many issues with close �rear ending � issues. People rear ending me or my rear ending them because of the quick/hard shifting. Car has been seen 2x since Feb. 2020 going on 3x. Same complaints. Exhaust has thick white smoke, smells slightly of gas. Engine check light diagnostic: 2nd cylinder misfire. 1st service fix focused on thermostat and repaired it. 2nd service diagnostic showed cylinder 2misfire again. Repairs focused on changing spark plugs and fuel injection decarbonizer. Last seen 8/2020 today is Nov 1st. I have another check engine light with same issues. 2nd cylinder misfire. I feel as many unsafe issues this car has I'm afraid to drive it. So it is sitting in my drive way. I've read it could be the transmission or it could be a coil. I've heard the repairs could cost upward of $2500 and that this is a common issue with this type of engine.

I went to start my van and it wouldn't start. The dash said "bad key". Apparently the key unprogrammed some how out of nowhere. I didn't do any5to my key and it just quit working.

Very dangerous! have looked up the issue in Dodge forums and it's a known issue that could possibly have something to do with the tipm on many Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep vehicles. It's an intermittent issue. Had dropped off my kids at school and went to put van into park and van died but on its own came back on. Loses power intermittently while driving on freeway. Can even hear loss of power through the heater/ac unit. Please fix this issue before someone is killed! only way to prove is to let a mechanic/ Dodge drive it around and let them find out the hard way. Issue occurs when going o or any speed.

While driving the car suddenly shuts off and loses all power. After two or three minutes it will restart.

Has there been any airbag clock sensor recalls? when I am driving and make a turn the esp/bas light comes on and the anti-lock brakes activate. The system resets and comes on again each time I am driving and make a turn. Codes c1219,c123f,c123b,c2200,c123c are active and stored on computer of vehicle.

I have previously reported an issue with my vehicle. The problem has persisted. The issue at hand is the vehicle loses power without warning while driving. It has happened at low speeds (25 mph), middle speeds (45 mph) and high speeds (65-70 mph). All warning lights are disabled when the events occur, so there is no way to warn other vehicles of the issues at hand, increasing the probability of a crash. I have taken my vehicle to cutter Dodge in honolulu only to have been told that the battery cables were loose ($150 service fee) and that the primer that is included with new batteries to apply on the battery posts was something that they'd never seen before. The problem has persisted. I currently have my vehicle at a repair shop with a battery that won't hold a charge because the intergrated power module is malfunctioning. As seen is previous complaints, this issue is ongoing with 2012 Dodge Grand Caravans. This issue presents a significant safety hazard and should be recalled. I will repeat that the driver has no warning that this issue will occur and it puts lives in danger. My vehicle has less than 110,000 miles and it began before reaching 100,000 miles. Recall this part before lives are lost or maimed.

Vehicle electrical and engine shutdown suddenly while driving 30mph on the road. No power steering or brakes, had to pull over to the shoulder. Was able to restart the car and drive normally after a few minutes. Brought to dealer but no engine codes were discovered. Has recurred more than once in a 2yr period. The tmpi on a 20008 Dodge Grand Caravan needs to be recalled. Used car lots are disconnecting the horn and selling the 20008 Grand Caravan for up to 10,000 dollars to customers who are unaware that any time the caravan will become disabled while driving on any street or highway because the tmpi is faulty and caravan wipers will spray continuously wiper fluid on windshield. The used car lot owner will then repossess said vehicle and sell it to another unsuspecting customer who will buy the caravan that needs to be recalled because the cost of said vehicle repair part (tmpi) is $1,080. 00 and $115. 00 labor cost to fix the repair an hour. Because buyer cannot afford the repair costs and the caravan payments and full coverage insurance . . Which does not pay to replace the altered or defective tmpi. Even though there have been recalls on the same identical tmpi part on two other Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. Note. . . Battery has to be disconnected while parked.

Driver side passenger door was locked shut. Had to bring the vehicle in for service multiple times to correct the issues. The first time they disassembled the door and once on a work bench it worked fine, they put back into the vehicle and 2 days later it was back to locked shut. Brought in for service again and had the lock actuator replaced. This is a safety hazard for my children when the door is not operational. The passenger side door is also making a grinding noise which was similar to the noise the driver side made before it stopped working. If I have both doors nonoperational this is an extremely big safety issue for anyone riding in this vehicle. I have spent over $500 on this issue and am worried it will be at least an additional $500 to fix the issues on the passenger side door once that begins to fail.

Fuel relay switch continuously runs after the vehicle is shut off which drains the battery and prevents it from starting. The vehicle then needs to be jump started by another vehicle and once the original vehicle is running and put into drive to be moved it shuts itself off because the battery is not fully charged.

I was driving down a main road all the lights came on in my dash car started beeping, radio came on, windshield whippers came on at high speed, ac came on, lost the ability to steer vehicle or brake with mileage screen switching to different options within that screen. I had a new battery put in key fob but the problems continued. I had aaa test my car battery and it was good. 2nd - cluster lights began randomly flashing and dinging a few weeks ago after the key fob problems began. This last week or two the digital speedometer also began spinning upward and downward at a high rate of speed, randomly. These problems have progressively worsened becoming more frequent and with more systems flashing. One red light has even appeared under the green letter n, for neutral. No name and no symbol, just a red light. On Wednesday the 21st, I had my battery tested again and the alternator tested at auto zone and o�reilly�s, both said they are good. I had the original fob plus another new fob programmed to the car on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at courtesy Dodge in mesa, az. The next day, Thursday, 1 fob started the car and took us to walmart without incident. However, the fob would not open any door nor start the vehicle when we were ready to leave the store. Finally called my son-in-law and he brought the other fob. Neither fob would do anything for quite awhile, then finally 1 worked. I'm quadriplegic so having an unreliable vehicle and being stranded away from home in 114 degree heat is extremely dangerous. On Friday we took the Dodge to auto zone, they again said my car battery was fine. On Saturday the 24th napa and auto zone checked for codes on the Dodge. Came up with u110a. Today, Sunday, Aug 25, 2019 neither fob worked again.

"takata recall" I brought my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt, on 04/17/19 it has 30,000mile on it. Passenger side sliding door locked again last time it happens 2 months ago I spend $1200 it happens again.

For the pass year been having problems with the traction, bas, brake and esp lights coming on and sometimes losing temporarily power. Sometimes it dies and 90% of time have to reset the clock. If it doesn't die and I pull over and kill it and crank it back and the dash lights go off but most of time have to reset clock. Sometimes driving down highway, and in parking lots and sometimes backing out of my carport. . My foot usually on brake but a few times it wasnt. This is the short version on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan that has 180,000 miles.

The totally integrated power module (tipm) on my Dodge caravan vehicle contains an internal fuel pump relay that operates intermittently and fails without warning caused and still causes the engine to stall while driving which could cause a crash. There is no warning when the fuel pump is going to fail. This is a known issue on the 2012 Dodge caravan, but no recall to date.
