39 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/27/2015

First I was told it was the battery then it was the alternator then it was the key fob. After all these repairs the Dodge dealership says now it's the timp module. This van only has 65000 miles. I have seen hundreds of complaints about the very same issues for customers with the same type vehicles. I have also seen the lawsuit and recall for defective timp from 2013 and 2014. My vehicle is one that was listed as an addendum lawsuit that may be affected by this module. This vehicle was purchased in florida in 2012.

Tried to leave babysitter after 5 minute pickup and van wouldn't start. No power for anything like battery. Charge did not help. Slight click when you turn over key similar to starter but not as loud. Read all reviews for others and with tipm failure and their combined issues sounds like tipm. No power, won't start, shifts rough.

41 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

The front and back wipers came on. The back wiper fluid was squirting. The horn came on and stayed on. The interior and exterior lights turned on. All of this occurred while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The engine had been off for 10 minutes. The battery had to be jumped because it was drained too much.

42 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/06/2015

He's lights flicker while driving, which makes night driving dangerous to the the annoyance of lights flickering and dimming. The dash lights are also flickering.

43 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/29/2015

For a few days my van has been having issues starting. (not battery) every light on the dash bored has been popping on. Then all the dash lights go out and so do the head lights. We were driving at night. Parked the car for a minute and let it run. It shifted out of park into drive and drove up a little knoll and into a parked car. No one was in or around the van. My bumper was damaged. Luckily no one was hurt. I am a mother of 4 young children. This is a very dangerous situation. Today it rain a bit but prior to today it was not raining. When in parked, lights and wipers were in the off position but they continued to stay on. At a very fast rate it would idle up and down quickly. We refuse to even turn on the van for I am scared of what may happen.

44 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/12/2015

My van has started having problems changing gears between the speeds of 30-60 mph. This most frequently occurs around the speeds of 40-50 mph, but have, however, occurred at all speeds within the 30-60 mph range. The van also often accelerates slowly after coming to a full stop. During both given instances, it will be sluggish and sounds like it needs to shift gears yet does not do so. This process also greatly depletes my gas as the transmission isn't shifting properly. I have inquired about a recall on this issue but have found that there aren't any. I, however, have found many complaints online from other owners with this same issue. The date I will provide below is approximately when this started occurring, but does not imply that this situation only occurred once as it continues still.

45 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

We were driving down the i5 in California when the all the warning lights on the instrument cluster lit up or started flashing. The indicators, wipers and windshield wiper fluid started and would not shut off. I could not turn any of these items off. This lasted for about 1-2 minutes before the van all of a sudden went back to its normal operation. It has happened one other time since then.

46 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Some of my dash lights are not working. I took to my mechanic and he said, "this would be an eight-hour job and cost about $800. 00. He did not want this job and suggested I contact Dodge to see if there were any recalls. I cannot afford to have this repaired. Is there something Dodge can do to fix this problem. I never had this kind of problem with any of my vihicles before and thyis is the fourth Dodge I have owned. The problem is that at night, when I need to see my dash lights, I cannot see my speedometer, ect. I had to put a light above my speedometer. Nor very attractive and not real helpful.

47 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 04/20/2015

(I do have the 2nd incident recorded on my daughters cell phone. However, turning off of sr795 onto main street coming home from work - my wipers began to work on their own, as well as the message light center - all started blinking rapidly, and my seat belt sound was continuously beeping. Then last week as we were going on the expressway (280-75-475) my speedometer would jump from 60 down to 0 back up - continously, while my wipers were going, all the message indicator lights were blinking, as well as my window would not not (still don't) work nor can I lock/unlock my van from the drivers side. The incident on the expressway, incident #2 - is the one I have recorded. I phoned grogantown Chrysler - and was informed they were never sent the l25 part that is recalled. My complaint is this: if my van is a 2008, the orginal recall was in 2011, how can a dealer put the van back on the lot for sale if the recall has not been addressed or fixed. Insane - and an inconvenience - I was told I could drive it til rouen (which is closer to me) can do a diagnostic test on may 26th. What happens if it is indeed the l25 recall and myself or my kids are injured in an accident cuz Chrysler corporation has not made this part available.

48 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

The vehicle just quite--it died in the middle of the road. . . There was a recall on this vehicle from Chrysler but they stopped 2 months before this one. . Called the dealer and they said sorry. . . It happened numerous times. . . The recall was on the ignition module which was what they changed on my van. . $850. 00 dollars worth.

49 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic that could not duplicate the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000. Bp.

50 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

Ii purchased the vehicle on 10-30-14 and took it to the dealer service dept. On 1-13-15 with the complaint the radio function / station /time display is so dim that it can not be readily be seen in daylight unless it happens to be shaded . On a bright sunny day, it is almost impossible to read it, even the time display is hard to read. I was surprised when the dealer told me it was normal. The safety issue is very clear to me. In order to even see the time, a driver has to take their eyes off the road and look at it for a longer than normal time. Same for seeing the radio function or station. Also a driver may shade the display with the right hand in order to see it. Gm vehicles all have a bright clear display that can be seen in the strongest sunlight. I can say for sure that accidents are going to happen because people will be taking their eyes off the road and right hand off the wheel to see these radios. I consider this to be not only a major design defect , but a lack of common sense. Thanks.

51 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/02/2014

The vehicle's engine suddenly stop functioning, causing the vehicle stops and turned off itself. Also the electrics malfunction made dash lights and signs turned on. This vehicle being inspected by authorised in la CA and advised me that this recall can not be completed due to the Chrysler unable to supply the relevant parts. This vehicle being used for terminal ill patients and requires urgent repairs of this vehicle. Please advise urgently your decision. Kind regards.

52 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

The interior in the front of the vehicle went out. When I took it out to replace it, it was melted on one side. That happened to me with the other side of the front interior lights back around 2011 and when I went to the dealership I was told I would have to buy the whole assembly at a cost of about $150. 00 I think. I asked then if there had been a recall on this and was told no. I asked what would cause the light to melt and he said he did not know. I left it as I still had the one on the drivers side but now I do not have either and there isn't any light in the front of the car when opening the drivers or front passenger door. Please advise me if this has been a problem and or what can I do about it.

53 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/21/2014

While driving between 30 and 35 miles per hour, at around 7:40pm, the low beams on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan went completely off. I pulled over and was unable to get them back on and had to drive with my high beams on. Took it to a mechanic, explained to him exactly what happened, but when he went to check them they turned on and he found no visible problems. The mechanic told us that he had researched online what the problem could be and found that there were many complaints about this issue. I am now afraid to drive at night or in the rain after seeing all the complaints online about this same problem. I can only imagine what could happen driving at night time on a curvy road and the lights fail.

54 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/25/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the head lights have malfunctioned. The high nor low beam head light would turn on. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000. Rg.

55 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

The vehicle was struck by lightning July 2014 when it was parked under a tree during a bad storm. It eventually was declared a total loss by progressive insurance after they attempted several times to have all the electrical components repaired. Several times they repaired it and put me back into the dangerous vehicle which was accelerating on its own and several times would not brake. I insisted they declare it a total loss before something terrible would happen. They finally agreed in October 2014. However, my concern is that I was told the vehicle was sold at auction and that puts someone else in danger. The vehicle should not of been handed over to someone else.

56 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

This is the second time I have gone out to my car only to find that the interior cabin lights are on. The van was in my garage at the time so I know no one could have entered the vehicle. I see that Dodge had a recall for there durango, but not there van in the year 2005. I purchased the van from coon rapids Dodge in mpls. Mn. About 3 years ago. I see by the Dodge recall on the durango this could cause a fire. Was there a recall on this van for this condition, and should it have been taken care of by the dealer.

57 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

My airbag light has been on for over a year. I recently had it checked out at tire kingdom where they checked it and told me that the diagnostics are coming back that it is not an air bag issue, but rather a seat belt issue. When I inquired about this at a local Dodge dealer, I was told it would be a $110 charge just to check it. I am concerned that this light being on could indicate that there is a larger problem that could result in my airbags not deploying properly in the case of an accident. I should not have to pay to find out that this is a manufacturing issue or a part malfunction. I hope that others are reporting the same issue so that we can get help for this problem with a recall.

58 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/09/2014

Just bought a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and realized the front reading lights were not working. I took of the plastic covers in an attempt to change them and observed that the bulb had completely melted the plastic and burnt part of the casing. It appears as though the plastic housing was very close to, or had already, caught on fire. I am worried that if we put a new light bulb in the same housing it will likely catch the whole van on fire. The safety of my family being paramount, I do not feel safe doing so. After reviewing this problem online, I found numerous other Grand Caravan owners claiming to have had the same problem. This issue needs to be fixed before someone gets hurt, or even worse, killed.

59 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

I have had the problem of having to toggle the lights to go on and off since I purchased the van used in 2009. From that point the lights would work with toggling them off. But then the problem has worsened and the head lights will not come on. This has happened ever so often. I thought I could turn on the high beams to be able to see, however the high beams won't stay on either. Toggling them back and forth doesn't work anymore. I need a solution to this problem. I purchased this van for a reason. I have children. . . . . . . I see that there have been other complaints about the same problem. . . . . And that this has put families in dangerous situations. . . . . And to a divorced woman with 2 children this would be costly to find out exactly what the problem is. . . . . .

60 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/09/2014

My sliding door quit working half way thru cycle. My power went dead in doors and locks I took it to the Dodge dealer they could not find the problem said it was either the ecm or the bcm but not sure. They did not want to replace as they would just burn out again if this was the problem and still a short somewhere it was safe to drive. I drove it home and next day went to start it and the main wiring harness under the battery and above the drivers side wheel well burst into flames burning the entire main electrical harness and ecm and fuse box up. Took it by tow truck to Dodge dealer again they said looks like wiring harness was worn through where it was fastened to the frame at the assembly plant. Called Dodge and they said this has happened before suppose to send an inspector and no one showed up it has been over a week and no help from Dodge or the dealer who told me it was safe to drive. I received a letter from Chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!.

61 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

Sometimes when the vehicle is started only the driver side daytime running light comes on. Turn the lights on and the driver side light goes out and the other side comes on. Turn on the high beams, the driver side light comes on and the other side goes out. Took the vehicle to a dealer, cause was said to be the multi function switch shorted. The multi function switch was replaced, lights worked properly for about 2 weeks, then the problem returned. Took vehicle back to the same dealer and was told they could not duplicate the problem. When both lights are on at the same time they flicker, the problem has gotten to the point to where only one light is working more times than when both lights are working. I researched the problem on the internet and found several other owners having the same problem as early as 2005. I contacted Dodge and was told they were unaware of the problem and that there were no recalls on my vehicle. All 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan should be recalled at once, because of this safety issue with the lights. It should not take someone having an accident whether minor or fatal in order to get this defect corrected. We are at risk of receiving a traffic ticket for driving a vehicle with defective equipment and or being in an accident because of the lighting problem. We have lost use of this for up to 3 weeks because of the problem with the head lights, and we can not afford to replace it at this time. Even if we replace this vehicle the problem would only be passed on to someone else. All 2001 Dodge Grand Caravans need to be recalled at once.

62 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/19/2013

Our van was parked outside our house (after being driven 6 miles & sitting for 10 minutes) & I started hearing the horn trying to make a honking sound, went outside & noticed the lights flickering, the wipers going at top speed w/washer fluid spraying, & the horn was trying to honk. I tried pushing the unlock button on my key fob & nothing happened. I was able to unlock the door with the key but entering & opening all the doors did nothing. I tried starting the van & it wouldn't stay on. The horn eventually went on at full force & a solid sound. We had to disconnect the battery for it to stop.

63 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

The first incident occurred while care was sitting in the driveway, no key in it. Horn started going wipers and wiper fluid started going full speed, and lights started flashing, door locks engaged and could not be stopped by key fob. This continued for about 10 minutes. I had to pull the fuses and disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Took the car to dealership twice who stated there is nothing wrong with the van. The van continues to do this intermittently. Most recent incident driving down the highway 60 mph with children in the car when all the previous symptoms started to occur and gauges would drop to zero and then back up over and over again. All lights went out at this time and transmission began malfunctioning. I was barely able to pull the car off to the side of the road where it continued to do this for 15 minutes. The third time I took it in they reported it was my tipm and want over $1100 to replace it. I called doge customer service and explained the issue hoping they would fix it without cost to me or offer some solution. Their rep was very rude and told me to try what the dealership suggested. I expressed how it is a design/manufacturing flaw and got the reply, "well MA'am, there is no recall on this so there is nothing we can do". I informed him I would never buy another Dodge/Chrysler vehicle and received the reply "ok, have a good day". He then hung up on me. This is a serious safety issue and after reading many forums have realized I am not the only one experiencing this issue. . . Dodge needs to be held accountable!.

64 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/11/2013

The power door locks on this 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan just stopped working. Key fob sounds horn when locking, but locks do not engage. Very dangerous for travel as locks do not engage when vehicle reaches 18 mph.

65 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/08/2013

Lights will not turn off when switch is turned off. Parking lights stay on for several minutes, turn themselves back on when car is unlocked. Occasionally blinks out when driving (less than 1 second blink).

66 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

We were driving along and the headlamps randomly turned off for no apparent reason. We jiggled the switch and they came back on. This now happens frequently.

67 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/24/2012

Head lights stopped working. Not simple bulb replacement, major electrical problem in power distribution system.

68 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/03/2012

Upon entering vehicle pressing keyfob to unlock any door or hatch the horn would start to sound, the windshield wipers (front and rear) would start to go on its on including windshield wiper fluid as well, lights would start to flash as well. I would have to open up the hood and hit the fuse box located next to the battery on the drivers side firewall just to get it to stop. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership on several ocassions to no avail because they cannot duplicate the problem and now I am out a diagnostic fee of $94. 00 x2 and the cost of a rental car both times for my wife and three children because my 100% full warranty does not cover the cost of the rental because the problem could not be duplicated. After searching and reading about this problem that my wife and I are having with this cara van I think something should be done before someone is seriously hurt or killed by the caravan doing something that it was not asked to do!!!!.

69 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/02/2012

Intermittent electrical issues - fails to start; interior dash panel lights, driver side passenger door not closing, drivers door not locking - all intermittent.

70 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/06/2012

Should a vehicle owner continue to keep their older vehicles the headlamps on many vehicles have plastic faces that become etched over time making it impossible to drive the vehicle at night without putting on the high beams. Hence night driving has become hazardous for these vehicles and to others. The kits to clean them do not work. The entire headlamp on the vehicles need to be replaced to correct this problem and that costs hundreds of dollars. It is not so simple as to just replace a plastic cover. The vehicle manufacturers should replace them free of charge. Plastic doesn't remain clear and visible specifically in the northeast where salt and sand are applied to the roads for winter driving. Highway driving is havec on plastic also. Are the stats up for night driving accidents???.
