Headlight failure to come on. Side lamps, tail lights etc. Worked but headlights would not work except by holding the multifunction switch in the "flash high" position. Multifunction switch has been replaced twice after similar failures since the original problem. Problem reoccurred 7/27/12 with no warning. Vehicle is unsafe to drive unless you can be sure to be home before dark as the on board computer diagnostics are no help in diagnosing the issue so it's a game of russian roulette on whether the lights will work when you get in.

Rear passenger wheel gets extremely hot while driving. It appears that the caliper may be locking up. The rear wheel on the driver side also makes a high pitched whine, which is intermittent and usually goes away by tapping the brake pedal. We took it to the dealer and they said we needed a rear brake job. However, I believe this is due to defective calipers which are not releasing the pads from the rotors. The rear brakes on every car I have owned always last significantly longer than the front. The fact that the rear pads are worn excessively while front are not indicates a defect in the rear brake assembly. The ignition was repaired as part of a recall. However, after starting the car, the key does not return to the "on" position. This allows the car to run and be driven, however none of my lights or directionals work. I can wiggle the key to get it into the correct position, but sometimes it is not obvious that the key is in the wrong position. This results in me driving without headlights in the rain and thinking that I am signaling properly in turns when in fact everything is off.

Following the advise of many whom have posted on the following website;. . Read more...
For no reason the headlights turned off regardless of the light switch position, while driving down the highway, very scary and very dangerous, please issue a recall before someone gets hurt!! I have visited many forums and most say its is the switch but some say its the main grounding post located under the battery box. And it is always an 05 town and country or Grand Caravan. Thanks.

The headlights on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan would not turn on. Only my parking lights would turn on. After several dozen attempts at turning on the low-beam headlights they would finally turn on. This is not the first time this has happened. The headlights on my Dodge Grand Caravan have also failed at night while I have been driving. Fortunately, I was only a couple miles from home. The lighting system in this vehicle is not reliable and I would hope the government would examine this matter closely.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the headlights stopped illuminating while driving at various speeds. The failure occurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and was informed that the headlight module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Headlights only work sporadically. At times, they won't turn on at all (running lights and rear lights still work) and it often takes several tries to get them turned on. Holding the lever activates the high beams, which still work. Early this morning, they simply failed while I was driving down a busy road in the dark. Extremely unsafe. Research indicates a recurring problem with the switch as my exact issue has been detailed by many, many individuals. As big as a safety issue as this is, it's hard to imagine how this hasn't spawned a recall.
While driving, the left headlamp stopped working. It started working again a few minutes later, and has continued to turn on and off for no apparent reason. High beams work ok. The same problem occurred with two different bulbs. When the ignition is off, I can turn on the headlights, but the left light has a slight delay turning on. When I turn the ignition on, the left headlight goes out. I cannot find any relays or fuses for the headlights. Two mechanics have looked at the problem, and have not been able to fix it. This seems to be a common problem on the web, but I can't find any solutions.

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the headlights would blink abnormally before shutting off. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The manufacturer then advised the contact that they would contact him at a later date. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 45,693.
While driving the headlight began to flicker and dim almost to where the light would completely go out.
The sliding passenger door locks no longer lock automatically lock while driving. They have to be locked manually. This is a safety issue. With children in the back seat, they can now open the doors while the car is moving if an adult forgets to lock them. The lift gate in the back no longer chimes when opening. This is a safety issue. Someone can get whacked with the door, not kowing that it is about to open. The parking lights stay on or come on spontaneously after the headlights have been turned off. This is a problem. Very easy for the owner to come out in the morning to a dead battery and a car that won't start. Some owners have reported the headlights cutting out while driving, a serious safety issue.

Headlights either will not turn on or go out while driving. Parking and tail lights not effected. Flipping switch on and off will sometimes work. Updated ivoq 10/19/11.
When the low beams are on one headlight is out and when the high beams are on the other headlight is out. I had it fixed twice by two different shops until I found that the problem is the front computer module. The fix is a new front module which is around $550. 00 (part is 450/labor 100). My complaint is that it is a safety issue and very expensive to fix, also it took quite some time to figure out exactly what needed to be fixed, during that time I didn't feel safe in the vehicle driving at night. I believe there should be a recall on this module as I have seen many other people who have had the same problem.

Intermittent headlight failure on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. Upon turning on headlights, they occasionally don't work. They intermittently fail completely while driving without notice or provocation resulting in a very dangerous situation. There are numerous complaints of this well known problem concerning other years of these vehichles on internet forums. There are no known reasons for the problem. I've asked my mechanic and a Dodge dealer and they both say it's a well known problem without any answers.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan - headlights randomly turn off - they do not dim - they just simply turn off.
Headlights on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan randomly turn off by themselves. No event leading up to the incident. The failure occurs randomly while driving. Nothing done so far to fix the problem.
Headlights turn off while driving. Mechanics and dealerships have no idea why. Looked on internet and this is not something rare. Major safety hazard for me, my kids and others on the road.
My headlights (both high beam and low beam) will turn off while I am driving at night. It can also happen in the daytime, but I notice it at night. Sometimes they will just go off for a few seconds and sometimes they will turn off and stay off. When they turn off and stay off I have to pull over (which can be hard in the dark with no headlights). Stop the car and turn off the car. Then when I restart the car the headlights will work again at least for awhile. Sometimes this happens several times a night and other times it won't happen for days or even weeks. The problem first started happening about a year ago with approximately 50,000 miles on the car. I have taken it to the dealer, but they can't find a problem.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the headlights were activated while driving approximately 50 mph, then suddenly without warning, the headlights became inoperative. The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the headlights failed to operate until after numerous attempts the headlights began to function normally. Headlights turn off on their own while operating vehicle.
Headlights randomly go out.
When the headlights are turned on, they do not work. The parking lights and interior lights work but not the headlights. It was happening once or twice a month, but now it's 3-4 times a week. When driving at night, it is a hazard.
My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan headlights intermittently go off and won't work. This is a real safety issue.
Turning out parking lot and did not see pole. Damaged my left front headlight and my fender.
