My van cranks, but won't start, it happens on and off. . . It seems to be the fuel pump relay everyone's talking about.

The tipm failed, this has been confirmed with a mechanic. It is available for inspection. The car's fuel pump keeps running even when the car is turned off which drains the battery. I am concerned that it may cause a fire and burn my house down. This is a known problem with these vehicles and certain VIN numbers are recalled. I was told my VIN number is not on recall. With this being a know problem, all VIN's should be on recall. This makes your car unusable and if the car cuts off in traffic, a real safety concern.
When turning the key over to start the vehicle it will keep turning over but not crank and it will not stop turning over until you switch the key in off position. Also, at times the van will stall while runing and shut off. So far in parked position but I am afraid it could happen while driving. The fuel pump will keep runing after the ignition has been shut off and the key taken out. This runs the battery dead and will leave you sitting.
Fuel pump remains on even when the ignition is off, this has happened 4 times, and is continuing more frequently.

Vehicle started have hesitation with starting. Once started after many attempts, during acceleration the vehicle still can be hesitate in moving. I recently replaced battery whereas the issue is the external fuel pump relay with the vehicle not receiving proper amount of voltage which currently is 1. Your other vehicles such as jeeps were recalled but not the Dodge vans especially this particular year which is 201 when it should have. Currently my vehicle had to be towed to a dealership for me to incur cost of the relay package which should have been under safety recall p54. Part #cbp4p541an. Unfortunately, I can not wait due to family needs the van done immediately but reimbursement will be necessary. Many of your vehicles have this same part and all should have been recalled especially with many mothers with their families utilizing your vehicles so heavy.
Relay fuel pump is not functioning.

It started with my vehicle not starting intermittently. As the problem got worse at first thought it may be the fuel pump. Having this replaced. The van has completed went dead while driving in traffic and had kids in car with me. Tries to go dead while sitting idle at redlights and will shake during accelaration and tries to quit. Reading alot on this and others having the same issues. Other vehicles have been recalled for same issues also. This needs to be recalled and address ASAP before someone is injuried or killed due to the vehicle going dead while driving in traffic. Please help on getting this recall going. This is not safe at all!!!.
Faulty timp causing issue with fuel pump module/relay. Faulty start and unable to turn on vehicle. This happened approximately 4 times in a parked position within a 24 hour period before vehicle was no longer drivable. Intermittent check engine light within the previous 3 weeks prior. Vehicle was inspected by a certified dealership to diagnose the issue.
October 8,2020 I was driving straight down hill on a city street in puyallup, wa when the car completely shut down without warning. I had no steering, brakes, or anyway to control the vehicle. I managed to coast into a nearby lowes hardware parking lot and ran into a barrier in order to stop. I was lucky there were no people or other cars in my path of travel when I entered as I was unable to stop. I called my insurer, geici, and arranged for the vehicle to be towed. Towing was performed by engels towing , puyallup, wa (253) 845-0034. Checking online I discovered that this is a known problem with the fuel pump and no recall has been issued. I believe that this is a serious safety issue. I, my family, or others could have been seriouly injured or killed.
The car was parked in the driveway. We attempting to turn the care on it just cranks and won't kick over. The fuse for the fuel pump has gone bad in the tipm. And the car now starts intermittently. I need to have a rely put in.
Our Dodge Grand Caravan was stationary and experienced intermittent starting problems over a period of months and sometimes when it did start, it would stall shortly after starting while in motion. Finally, it would not start after repeated attempts, waiting are trying again. We had it towed to our mechanic who tested it and found that it was the fuel pump relay. He said it was common to may Dodge and Jeep models. They all have the same circuit board. He recommended taking it to a dealer for repairs even though it had not yet been recalled. The dealer confirmed that they had the parts for the fix and fixed the fuel pump relay problem. The repair has a 2 year warranty. An employee of dealer expressed that it may be 3 months from the October 8, 2020 repair, but eventually Chrysler would issue a recall since so many models with this part have been recalled. We were advised to keep the receipt for later reimbursement. It is now March 14, 2021 and no recall has been made for our vehicle. Please try to expedite this recall. The NHTSA probably is not getting many complaints because everyone with the problem expects it to be handled soon. Thank you for your help.
Within 500 miles of owning this brand new, it started having trouble starting. Long story short, we were told it was a defective fuel pump. Fast forward to approximately 105,000 miles it's having the same symptoms but won't start at all now. Chrysler has issued recall v62 for durango's and cherokee's with the same tipm and engine as a Grand Caravan but didn't include it in the recall. Approximate cost of repair is $1350 and the part is on back order for at least 3 weeks. Leading me to believe there is a serious problem with the part!!!.
1st problem erratic ignition stalling while in park. Battery was replaced and taken to shop, the auto technician assumed based on p0128 p0520 p0441 it was gas fuel cap, switch oil pressure, housing thermostat, gasket intake manifold they replaced O2 sensors vacuum line read a sensor with evapo system causing check engine light came on and a host of other items checked gas cap totaled me $779. Car refuse to started next mornings for pass two weeks every morning several attempts to start car after parked overnight no start only stalling first. Then waited an hour put car in neutral see if car starts it did. After driving that day while driving car acceleration began to go fast by itself on a highway then jerk rpm dropped down while driving my children in the car. I thought maybe gear was out of place so I looked to see if it was in drive, it was in drive. Went back to auto shop they said since car is working now can't hook up system to check p codes because it won't show up if it's working. Told me drive 60 miles to see prob continue. Next morning car didn't start, no fuse signal shows. Then car was dead one click sound ,no stall. Called roadside assist and tried to jump battery. Guy said it's not battery he said it's the fuel pump. Contacted the auto mechanic spoke with mgr of shop and said it can be a tipm and cost $1200. This is a very unstable and unsafe issue my family and I drive in this van don't feel safe 2nd issue car hesitated to stop two months ago when I pressed the brakes to stop car while driving on road to stop at red light, no stop I had to pump brakes and I thought it was brakes I paid for replacement of brakes and pads as well. This electrical module has been the cause of known incidents. It can cause accidents. The van is dangerous safety hazard. Tipm and electrical system is creating unsafe braking and ignition fuel conditions causing malfunction.
2015-2020 on approximately 45 occassions the fuel pump continues running after ignition shut-off. It then drains the battery which requires jump starting to keep from being stranded. 2015-2020 on multiple occassions (approximately 4 times)the fuel pump will not kick on at all leaving vehicle and driver/family stranded. 2020 3 times while driving the van just shut off. This has been going on for 6 years and now will not start at all. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge caravans have the same problem. *refusal to recall due to undocumented complaints and requests is a failure to public safety. A quick internet search of issues regarding the tpim im Dodge Grand Caravans is proof enough to show that the fault lies as significantly with these vehicles as the durangos and jeeps. *** a new investigation should be conducted. I have sustained injuries in my neck and shoulders as a disabled person by having to raise and drop my hood to disconnect my battery terminal everywhere the vehicle sits on every occassion possible for 6 years to avoid intermittent battery drain and being stranded with my two young children. Is a gross disservice to consumers and public safety that this model has yet to be included in the tpim recall.
February 2020: van turned itself off while city driving about 25mph and restarted after coasting to curb. March 2020 van failed to start at home, starter motor working but engine wouldn't start. Mechanic replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay after many days and great difficulty obtaining parts. June 2020 van engine wouldn't start, as before, and was towed to mechanic.

Fuel pump keeps running. It then kills the battery. The fuel pump will not kick on at all. When driving the van would just shut off. This has been going on for a few weeks and now will not start. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge caravans have the same problem. Could you please look into it for us. The part to fix it could be up to 2000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving on the freeway the vehicle stalled out twice. Both times the contact was able to coast to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. The contact tried to press on the accelerator but there were times when the vehicle would speed and others when it would stall out. The it stalled the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who found that the fuel pump relay was the issue with a connection malfuntion. The mother board around the fuel pump relay had burn marks. The contact checked with the dealer dick hannah Jeep 3517 ne auto mall dr, vancouver, wa 98662 (360) 342-9650. They said there were no recalls and quoted a repair cost of $1273 just for the parts. The vehicle was currently still with the independent mechanic unrepaired. The manufacturer also stated there was no recall and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 131. 660. Tf.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise(electric motor spinning) coming from the engine when the vehicle is turned off and the key is out the ignition with with warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (anderson Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 5711 e state st, rockford, IL 61108) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and in informed the contact to place a complaint with NHTSA . The failure mileage was approximately 151,774. Ck.
Chrysler's tipm is a computer run amuck owners report that their vehicles act as if possessed and leave them in dangerous situations stalled vehicles stranded without warning on the highway, fuel pumps that won't shut off, windows that open and shut, airbags that won't deploy. center for auto safety director, clarence ditlow the fuel pump not turning off and burning out the airbags not deploying or deploying randomly the engine stalling while driving the starter cranks but won't start the horn going off at random times power windows not working doors locking or unlocking themselves as I was driving with my 3 children the van started acting up. Over the last 6 weeks, on occasion when attempting to start the vehicle- it will crank without turning over and running. This requires multiple attempts before the vehicle would run. It has become a more frequent event to include briefly running then shutting down. Wthin the last week, the battery has drained without casue- requireing charging. As of today, the failure to start issue persists requireing multiple attempts. This happens on a cold start as well as when the vehicle has been running/is warmed up. Ddiagnostics lead to a failure of the fuel pump relay in the tipm. This is a well documented issue for this engine/tipm however the caravan has not been included in the recall as the druango and Jeep vehicles have been. The failure of this tipm has been documented to include sudden engine shutdown while in operation representing a significant danger to the public. Based on reviews of other complaints, an ordinary reasonable prudent person would believe that this tipm failure is a iminent threat to safety. The manufacturer should be required to expand the recall and repair to all vehicles equipped with the suspect tipm. Currently, a non recalled vehicle would have the tipm module replced at a significant cost to the owner or, a non dealership installed "recall" repair (new relay) installed that would negate any further/future responsibility of the manufacturer. Authorized service centers should be required to provide the option of paying for the "recall" repair when servicing a vehicle not on the recall list. Knowing this tipm failures potential, I would suggest that, regardless of any class actin settlement- the manufacturer be required to mitigate this issue at the least possible expense to the vehicle owner.
Van doesnt always start, taking many tries to turn over. Has been to Dodge and other mechanic several times. Been told that the tipm/ fuel pump relay is the issue. Van has shut off intermittently on the highway on two occasions.
The fuel pump relay on the totally integrated power module (tipm) on my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan is operating intermittently which is causing engine stalls and hard starts. After researching the problem, I found that there is already a recall (safety recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115) for the same issue for other Dodge and Jeep vehicles equipped with the same engine & tipms. Troubleshooting has verified that the fuel pump relay is indeed the issue. An attempting to purchase the relay kit cbwpr091aa specified in the recall from my local Dodge dealer in conway arkansas failed. They tell me they can't sell me the part because the recall does not cover my vehicle and that I would have to bring the vehicle in for a $1000+ tipms board replacement. Dodge is extorting exorbitant amounts from their customers for expensive repairs that could be done at a tiny fraction of the cost if customers were allowed to purchase that simple relay kit. Meanwhile I'm having to operate an unsafe vehicle until I find another source to obtain the specified part in the recall. This model vehicle should also be part of that safety recall and Dodge/Chrysler should be investigated for putting their customers at risk as a result of their unethical business practices.
Bad tipm module, had my fuel pump replaced and the battery and now the repair shop says the module is bad and it keeps turning the new fuel pump on and off and it will ruin both of those new parts if it is not fixed. All the Chrysler and Dodge trucks have had a recall on this, why not the Dodge vans. This is very unsafe.
Driving at 55mph on a main city rd vehicle started to hesitate then shut off with no warning. Vehicle acted like it was out of fuel . I was able to cost vehicle to the shoulder vehicle would not start back up. It would continuously turn over when trying to crank but would not start I bought a tester to test the vehicles fuel pump as well as the fuss and relays. I have also paid a shop to diagnose the issue and results were a failed tipm and failed fuel pmp relays which are built in. Due to high costs of the tipm and back order we had to tow the vehicle to were it currently sits until a solution can be made.
I turned off my 2013 Grand Caravan and noticed a sound like a fan buzzing coming from the rear tire area. In a few hrs I came back out and tried to start it and the battery was dead. Research tells me it's the fuel pump relay.
I started to have a problem starting my van I called my mechanic and he asked me what happened I told him that I tried to start the van it doesn't start immediately I have to try several times and after a while the battery will be dead in the morning and I started to disconnect my battery terminal he said he seen this problem before it's very common in Dodge Grand Caravan it's the tipm ( the fuse box ) the fuel pump relay is welded into the fuse box and can not be replaced and if it goes bad it will cost 1200 $ to replace that is crazy if this was Toyota the cost of fuel pump relay is no more than 20 to 30 dollars it's a bad design and Dodge should pay for it.
I recently have been experiencing battery drainage to the point of needing 2 battery replacements. I then realized that after I turn off my vehicle the fuel pump is still on. I replaced the fuse and relay only to still have the same problem. Replaced the fuel pump and the problem is still there. This vehicle stalled on my three times while driving to either work or on the highway with my children. This is a safety issue and I have ran out of option to fix it. Dodge needs to figure out the cause and fix it.
I am having a problem with the fuel pump relay. There is a recall on the Dodge vehicles but my VIN was not among the list. What steps should I take to fix the problem?.
It started with my vehicle not starting intermittently. As the problem got worse at first we thought it may be the fuel pump. After extensive searching it was revealed to be a faulty tipm module that causes issues with the fuel system. I contacted Dodge and they validated that they are aware of the problem. There has been recalls listed for most vehicles with this same module, however not for the Dodge Grand Caravan, I do not understand why. The issue has now escalated. While driving in the pitch dark to work the vehicle started acting funny, then all power shut off, steering locked, fob locked in ignition, no lights, no blinkers, right in the middle of the road while driving. I had just dropped off my son so glad he wasn't with me. It seems the problem all goes back to the tipm which has been draining my battery and causing other electrical issues. This is a safety hazard. I contacted Dodge and they refuse to do anything to help because my vehicle is "outside the warranty". I explained how this problem doesn't even start until approx. 70,000 miles(I'm currently at 60,000). Beyond that the warrant y was expired when I purchased it used from the Dodge dealer 3 years ago. I've contacted Dodge numerous times and no one of any stature will even talk to me since the caseworker called the case "closed" based on the warranty. I think this is immoral on the part of Dodge being that this has been a persistent problem with theses modules that goes as far back as 2010, yet they continued to use it. I purchased this vehicle so my wife can move my child around safely, and am scared to even let her drive it. At the moment no one is driving it because it died on the road and smells like the electrical system was burning. I am currently looking for a way to fix this issue. The estimated cost of repair is around $2,000. 00.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle would shut off however, the fuel pump relay was running with the ignition turned off as a noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. The failure would drain the battery as the battery was replaced several times. The vehicle would also stall when driving at 60-65 mph without warning on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep of ann arbor ( 3900 jackson rd, ann arbor, mi 48103) whom advised no recalls on the vehicle. The contact stated that an independent mechanic advised that the total integrated power module (tipm) would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly shut off. After restarting the engine the vehicle would operate as normal. Also on occasions the vehicle would not immediately start causing the battery to drain and the fuel pump would sometimes continued to operate after turning the vehicle off. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer mike anderson Chrysler(417 s. 3rd st. Logansport, in. ) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.
Problem starting from faulty tipm causing fuel relay to work intermittently. Fuel pump works by testing. The problem is faulty power in tipm.
After vehicle sits for a period of time especially when it is cold or wet out the vehicle will continue to turn over without starting the fuel pump relay is not opperating at all times as it's faulty with no way to replace it as it is not separate entity from the tipm circuit board. So there are days where the vehicle is not drivable as it will not start do to the problem of no fuel being injected into the engine due to a bad or faulty fuel pump relay.
For several months now I have dealt with a problem with the fuel pump not turning off after the vehicle has been shut off. It has drain the battery dead. Now it has evolved into a problem where the car is stalling and shutting car systems down without notice. Thank goodness I was not moving when it stalled. It appears it is a problem with the fuel pump module relay. Dodge needs to fix this problem. This is a major safety hazard.
My car kept stalling and cutting off. It would cut off at times while driving on busy city streets, just before totally shutting down. Thought it was the battery and had that replaced. Nothing else was reading as an issue that would cause this problem. I knew it was larger problem when I was unable to jump start my vehicle or feed it gas using the pedal. Car no longer starts. Apparently I no longer have power to my fuel pump, and the relay is integrated into the fuse box. Upon doing some research this is a common issue that causes the vehicle to randomly shut off. Dealerships want $1200 to fix.
