Bought the vehicle Saturday 4/18/2015. The vehicle was taken in for wash and fill up as my wife and I signed the paperwork. Following signing paperwork we found the driver side bottom trim popped out. The clip that holds the small trim piece in was broke. Later in the day my wife got her arm pinched hard by the driver side auto closing door leaving a nasty bruise on both sides of her arm. The door hesitated to reopen and continued to close on her arm. Took van back to dealer on Monday 4/20/15 to have trim piece fixed. Found out they had to order the part. The service manager said this was not the first time they saw this issue. After looking at the popped trim piece I noticed the bottom corner of the van behind the popped trim had began to rust out with the paint chipped. Now will have to have paint and new trim piece on a brand new vehicle. Regarding the auto door closing the service manager said she was not aware of any sensitivity settings but would look into it to avoid the injury happening again.

Air conditioning failed around 50,000 miles. Had system recharged and started to fail again in a couple of months. By that time, weather started to become cold. By 80,000 miles (following summer), told that the rear air evaporator part was leaking and while Dodge did not "recall" the part, they extended the warrant to I think - 75,000 miles. The part took about 2 months to come in and cost over $1,600 to install. I was never given notice of the "extended warranty. "
driver side automatic door no longer works for the second time (first around 50,000 second time around 75,000). Rack and pinion needed replacement around 90,000 miles. That cost around $1,500. Fuel gauge is about 1/4 tank off in the bad direction. Can no longer trust gauge under half a tank. Paint started to peel and metal underneath rust around 50,000 miles.

2000 Grand Caravan has multiple rust points. The most dangerous of which is the rusting and deterioration of the front left strut. The top portion of the strut cover is rusted and falling apart, with a crack in it. Other parts of the car that are showing many rust areas include:
passenger door (can put finger through rust), hood (bubbling paint and cracking), paint peeling from antenna housing, rear hatch rust, left rear wheel basin. My largest concern is the strut rust for safety issues, but this vehicle should not be rusting so poorly being only 5 years old!.
