The drain for the ac leaks under the passenger side dash. A recall (k25) was issued because the leaking water can affect the air bag control. Chrysler will not cover this vehicle claiming the VIN # is not included. The problem and safety concerns are the same and the recall should be extended to cover all affected vehicles.

We were stopped behind an ambulance in traffic when a large pick-up truck barreled into us. Driver was intoxicated. My 5-year old daughter was strapped into the built-in booster seat in the middle bench. On impact, the whole bench came out of the floor and flipped her forward and then backwards. She sustained a black eye.

I purchased this vehicle used in 2011 and about three months later I took into the dealer for an oil change and they said I need to change out my rack/pinion/steering since it had a small leak. Now I have a larger leak underneath the van wherever I park. I checked myself to see that the small plastic clamps have come loose and transmission fluid was leaking out. That did not fix it since it is now leaking in the front passenger side. Also I have a sunroof that leaks when we wash the van and when it rains, I have cleaned out the drains but the seal is worn down and I would have to purchase the entire assemble to fix the problem at $500 for the part does not include labor? I am happy with the vehicle other than the lemon part of the axle going bad.

The vehicle is not properly sealed. The grounds were all corroded and letting moisture or salt into components. First thing that happened was all the lights came on and then all went out. Couldn't see speed or gears. I have had to replace the basic control module and having the body control module checked out today. Everything under the hood is corroding at a fast pace. You can see even the metal on the engine. I hoping my wiring harness is ok. But the tech hasn't gotten that far yet.

My 2006 Grand Caravan has had problems almost since I bought it in 2007 (it had 18,000 miles when I bought it). It now only has 68,000 miles on it. My drivers side electric door does not operate when it is warm outside (29,000 miles). The passenger side axle broke and had to be replaced (65,000 miles). When it rains my power steering goes out periodically (65,000 miles) . My engine light is on (haven't taken it in to check it yet) (66,000 miles) and now my airbag light is on (68,000 miles). Also I have replaced the battery and still have problems starting it. It clicks clicks clicks like a hundred times then eventually it starts.
The strut tower is defective and fails causing loss of control and possible injury
this happens on all new (1995 and newer) body style minivans made by Chrysler/Dodge and driven in climate where salt is used on the roads in the winter. The strut tower requires patches welded to reinforce the corroded area.

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan February 2010. During a recent snowstorm, after using the rear defroster and front windshield defroster and sitting in the van for about 1/2 an hour to DE-ice the windows and warm up the vehicle, I pressed the rear window wiper button. The rear wiper started its normal motion and then stops abruptly as it broke through the rear window which shattered into many small eggshell like pieces. There was glass almost all the way up to the driver's front seat. Half the rear window was completely shattered and gone while the remainder of the rear window glass was still attached but shattered into many small cracked eggshell like pieces. It was fortunate this happened with the vehicle parked.

While changing the front struts of my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, I found the front left strut tower to be extremely rusted. It hasn't rusted through yet, but looks like it will only be a matter of weeks. I called my local Dodge dealer and they said a recall had not been issued, but a TSB had been. This means I have to pay for it, even they know it's a problem. Bad customer service on Chrysler's part. I will not buy another product from them, as they don't stand behind their products.

2006 Dodge Grand Caravan automatic sliding door opens approximately 8 inches; then stops. Must manually open the remaining distance. Same incident when closed. Door automatically closes until about 8 inches from "fully closed". Must manually close door remaining distance.
Driving down a highway, and the right rear window of our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan (63k miles) just fell out at ~60 miles per hour. There was no warning, the car has never been in an accident, the window was not vented, and nothing was up against the window. We are fortunate that this happened while we were in the right lane, and it was the right side of the car, so the window probably fell to the side of the road. We are also fortunate that we did not have anything fall out the window that could have caused an accident. We reported the incident (informally) to the police so that they could drive by the area where it occurred to ensure there were no road hazards. We have nothing to explain why the window fell out. We contacted Chrysler and they concluded it was not a defect. I'm not sure how they came to that conclusion, but they seem content that this could have happened without any explanation. Chrysler provided no help in covering the $700 charge to replace the window. Also, when I asked which government agency I should contact to report this as a safety issue, they would not give me an answer. They only stated that the incident will be kept in our own "personal" file, and implied that keeping this information in a private file is sufficient. I disagree, and feel that this complaint should be known to the NHTSA in case there are other similar occurrences.
Dodge caravan has corrosion in front strut tower. This is a unibody frame. Was told by a Chrysler employee that this is a common problem and rarely does Chrysler assist with repairs. On oct 14, 2002 Chrysler issued a TSB report #23-044-02, stating issue with left and right strut towers and the correction of the condition. Chrysler is aware of this potentially dangerous issue and chooses to ignore it. After phoning Chrysler they will not assist me in the repair of the vehicle. I was told by Chrysler customer service that until something happens or breaks they will not correct problem. If the strut tower completely breaks as it will, it will render the vehicle inoperable and poses a significant danger to persons.
2003 Dodge Grand Caravan sport. Undercarriage and rocker panels are severely corroded and holes forming throughout the bottom of van. This van is too new to have this severe of corrosion. Could exhaust be leaking in van and pose hazard while we drive also, van will not pass massachusetts safety inspection so either it has to be repaired or scraped.
Corrosion of strut towers, this has been ongoing since the van was new. We it is cosmetic and is not covered by the warranty. For the warranty to cover it, it will need to fail within 5 years or 100,000 miles. Well we are past that now and it has failed. What to do? the dealer can fix it but it costs me $1200 to $1400. For an ongoing problem this is not fair and reasonable. Not to mention, more than half of the complaints on this site are of this exact issue. And it runs through many years. Do we need to wait until someone is injured before this is corrected. Dodge is aware they have even made up a kit to assist with this issue. Is there a class action? this van was $33,000. New in 2000 when we purchased it. This is not fair or reasonable. Who needs to be talked to get this fixed? is the scope so large that they can not all be fixed? do I need to junk the van because the repair is more than it's street value?.
I own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan that I purchased new in 2000, I recently had new struts installed on the front and was told that the left front strut tower was severely rusted and should be fixed as soon as possible. I was also told that this was a serious safety issue that Chrysler was aware of,I did some research and found that this is a common problem with 1996 to 2000 Chrysler Mini-vans due to a design defect.
I bought this vehicle on June 25, 2008 and the very next day it started making a loud squealing noise from the passenger side dash board area. It does not do it all the time. It comes and goes. It is loud and has been in the shop twice and they do not know what it is. It is going to the shop tomorrow for the 3rd time. This loud squealing noise is loud and happens a lot.

Corrosion of both front strut towers on late 1990's - early 2000 Dodge caravans. Dodge is aware of the problem as they address it in a TSB. The refer to it as a cosmetic problem when it is clearly a safety issue. If not repaired at high cost to many thousands of vehicles, control would be lost without warning.
About the beginning of October we noticed the passenger floor area began to have white spots. I tried vacuuming the area but the spots quilky reappeared and grew larger. Then I realized the spots were mold. Yesterday, I pulled back the carpet. To my horror, the underside of the carpet was engulfed in a white fuzzy mold. The mold was growing in the carpet, the underlayment and up the underside of the dash to a round plastic area. I believe this is either for the ac or heater or both. I'm sure this is from some type of water leak as from time to time passengers would say the floor area was wet. For some time, my family has been complaining about getting sick every time they ride in the van. I believe the mold is the culprit.
Shock absorber tower on drivers side of vehicle is seriously deteriorating. Rust is penetrating inner and outer portions of tower causing serious safety concerns about stability and integrity of vehicle suspension.
The problem described herein is about my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. Over the past year I noticed some rusting at the left top strut tower. I questioned it at the time, but was told it was not serious. During the past week I was replacing the air filter and noticed that now over one half of the strut area was heavily rusted and had large cracks on one side. I took it to my local Chrysler dealer to see if the rust through warranty would apply, or if it was a common problem. The manager looked at it, looked up my warranty and said even though the time period is good until 12/2006 the mileage of 69700 was over by 9750 miles. He would not admit that this is a common problem and said it could be very dangerous, take it to a body shop for repair. I since have investigated this complaint on NHTSA, and found that there are many identical problems, and Chrysler has even developed a corrosion kit for this problem. See odi 10147504 can you advice me of my next step. We are not driving the van until it is repaired. This is a garaged vehicle.
: the contact stated that while driving at 10 mph through a flooded area, water seeped in through the plug opening for the spare tire. Due to the water, the plastic cover was pulled halfway off the tire, causing it to drag on the asphalt. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer determined the cause of the defect was due to water spraying under the cover of the tire therefore weighing it down.
The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact noticed rust on the top of the strut tower. The rust has worsened over time. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a body shop so they could weld a piece of metal to the strut tower. The body shop stated that would not solve the failure and stated that the strut tower should be replaced. The current mileage is 73,500 and failure mileage was 40,000. Updated 02/01/08.
The cup holder in some vehicles is located directly adjacent to the dashboard. When the vehicle stops, beverage splashes onto the dash, in this case into a computer board in the dash through slots in the dash for the heater controls. The result is total failure of the front and rear window defroster, windshield washer and wipers, front and rear heaters, and air conditioning. The lack of ability to clear the front and rear glass constitutes a safety hazard. This particular vehicle is a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan se VIN 2b4gp44r1tr779538. Possibly several brands of vehicle have this engineering design problem. The response that I got from Chrysler when I asked about replacement parts is that the warranty is for three years, and after that "tough. " their e-mail response is attached. At a minimum, replacement parts should be available for a reasonable time after production stops, and this vehicle is still in production. Since it is a design error, I feel that this field failure should be corrected without charge. If that is not possible, then I should be allowed to purchase and install this $20 computer board myself. It requires removal of four screws. --->snip<---
your vehicle was provided with a warranty against defects for a period of 3 years or 36,000 miles. Your concerns, particularly in view of the expense and inconvenience involved in this issue, are understandable. However, your request for consideration in this matter must be declined.

Incident #1: 1. We were returning home from a weekend visit to iowa. We had been traveling about 5 hours. We were slowing down to exit off highway 212 near glencoe, mn. 2. The passenger side window exploded at about 4:00 pm as we were slowing down to make our turn. Glass was spread throughout the inside of the vehicle (2003 Dodge Grand Caravan) and chipped the paint along the side of the van. 3. The window was replace by our insurance company (progressive) and the van was repainted and detailed (vacuumed) to remove the glass inside the van. Incident #2: 1. On the same vehicle (2003 Grand Caravan) a second window exploded on October 7, 2004. This time it was the passenger side sliding door window. I was accelerating into a passing lane east of cokato, mn. 2. The window exploded at 6:45 am. Glass chipped the paint on the side of the van and was spread throughout the inside of the van - again. 3. The side window on the sliding door was replace by our insurance company (progressive) and the van will be painted again soon.
My 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan has been a headache since I got it. Right after I got it I had to pay $600 to get my dashboard fixed because all my gauges quit completely. Now my windshield wipers will go off by themselves even when they are off. This happens when I hit the brakes or unlock the doors or open the driver side door. My check engine light stays on all the time. We have it put on a tester and they cant find why its on. The rear end rattles pretty bad also and sometimes there is no pick up and go.

Just above both sliding doors (left and right side) on the drip rail there is aproximately a 3 inch crack in the seam of the sheet metal in a total of 4 spots. The dealer states I will have to wait until 11/03/2003 for them to have their body shop which is not on site have a look at it. I have made known my concerns with Dodge corp whose number was supplied by the dealer and spoke to teresa whom said all I have was warranty, well my concern is the srtucture of the roof one, two is the water entering the inner sheet metal parts of the vehicle after all as they stated after the 7 years they are done with the warranty. It would seem to me that they know there is a problem and as a customer who stills owns a 1994 Grand Caravan with 155,000 miles on it I wish to keep my new vehicle. I am not asking for a new roof as was asked by the dealer just a little assurance that if in 7 years and 3 months ect. If the vehicle rots from this factory defect why should I be liable for the repair if it is a factory defect. As I also said what about the structure and safety from this problem there has to be a reason why the seam is opening up.
The top of the strut tower, under the hood, is rusting. I haven't approached Chrysler, but will try. I have seen this problem on two minivans and am wondering if Chrysler is doing anything about itl.
We took our 1996 Grand Caravan in for recalls that Dodge sent us. They called my wife back and told her it was condemnable and unsafe to drive, because the strut tower was very badly rusted. By the time I had the chance to call them, because I was at work, the person she talked to had left, however I did talk to another person acquainted with the vehicle. He said because of the mileage and that I wasn't the original owner Dodge wouldn't do anything for us. He also said it would cost $2000. 00 per side to fix and the van wasn't worth it. I said this is a serious thing and it should be fixed by Chrysler because they obviously used inferior materials on that part of the van. He said that they would not fix it, and the weather where we live had something to do with it. I said so I am just out of a vehicle to drive?, and he said you can drive it but it's not safe. Now the other man told my wife that if she hit a hole or went over rr tracks it could come completely through and she would lose total control of the vehicle. The auto body man we took it to said that the part should have been galvanized when they made it and this wouldn't be happening. Another thing I would like to note is that our 1994 caravan did not have this problem and it had over 270,000 miles on it. Also this 1996 does not have rust anywhere else. Someone is going to get hurt or killed if they don't recall these and fix them. They recalled a clock spring for the airbag, and they didn't ask the mileage of our vehicle, and they performed all the other recalls on it that day so they could get there money, but they won?t do anything about a suspension component that is life threatening. I would like also to add that your car doesn't need to have an airbag to be safe or run, but it does need a suspension. This is not an only case, we have another 1996 Grand Caravan that looks like rust is bubbling under the paint at that same spot, so it is a very easy thing to not see.
On 12/5/2002, my husband & I were sitting at a red light in our 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan when we were rear-ended by a Ford taurus. Being lower to the ground than the caravan, the taurus hit the dealer installed tow bar causing the frame to buckle above both axles & minimal damage to the body of the van. The case for recovery of medical bills & wages lost is now coming up & we found out that they are claiming that we were hit between 8-10 mph. I talked with someone in your legal department & she told me to see if Chrysler could give me info on the strength of that frame & if not, to file a complaint. We heard back from Chrysler this morning & they said that they couldn't help us.
When a/c is on passenger floor gets soaked. Rotting out the carpet and floor mat. As well the radio stops working for periods of time.

Five days in dealer's body shop and one day in service shop, unable to stop the water leak into front driver-side cabin. The water leaks into vehicle when it rains. Vehicle is always parked when water comes into cabin. It comes in with heavy or light rains. Body shop manager remembers two other vehicles with water leak problems.
The body structure which held the strut to the front suspension was badly rusted. The consumer was told if he drove over a railroad track, the strut could go completely through the body structure it's connected to and he could loose control of the vehicle. Ph.
